Colossus By Design: Myths and Monsters

"Welcome to Mythology class, students! Today, we'll be going over one of the most controversial topics covered in this course: Atlantis."

(Teacher): Now, it's been discovered that the society we call 'Atlantis' was once a part of the Asian continent, on what would become the Chinese coast.

(Student): But sir, I thought Atlantis was Greek!

(Teacher): A common misconception. You see.....

(Teacher): Although initial finds nearly a century ago were discovered off the coast of the former Greek region, it was only partial evidence. The truly groundbreaking discovery was made around 50 years ago, where large pockets of previously undiscovered ruins were found clustered in a single area, here.

(Teacher): The Asian ocean, off the Chinese coast. We found remains of a vast city, and it's believed that these aren't even the full remnants of the civilization, but instead of the centre of the entire empire.

(Student): Wait, sir... how do we know that it's the heart of the whole thing?

(Teacher): I'm glad you asked. You see, on all of the Atlantean artifacts we've found, a very unique structure served as the symbol on them all. In the city we found, at the very centre of it all, was this structure, the main symbol of all Atlantean artifacts we've ever found. This indicates the structure was the main building complex within the entirety of the society, likely a major religious or governmental complex.

(Student): Did we ever find anything else besides ruins and pottery?

(Teacher): Yes, we did. As you can see here....

(Teacher): We believe this to be an ancient Atlantean vessel used in a similar manner to modern day submersibles. As well, there are multiple instances of other vehicles in resemblance to others of our own time, and even weapons. However, it wasn't known how these devices worked until shortly after the very beginning of the very first P.E.M.F. attack in 2062.

(Student): What do giant monsters have to do with Atlantis?

(Teacher): Very good question. You see, the P.E.M.F.s work on the exact same principle as Atlantean technology by way of harvesting the unknown energy within every living being that completely defies normal laws of physics, 'non-standard dystopic exotic energy' as it's known amongst the scientific community. It is also this method of energy harvesting that gave rise to the Warmongers that defend us even to this day.

(Student): If they were so advanced, why did they disappear?

(Teacher): Nobody knows. It's a mystery we're still working on. All we know is they were extremely advanced, and have influenced many other cultures around the globe.
