  1. Part 3
  2.
  3. >Careful Anon, watch where you step.
  4. >Your hoof suddenly slips, and you start tumbling down.
  5. >Maybe this wasn’t a bright idea.
  6. >You could have just teleport-
  7. >Right, hindsight.
  8. >You just wish you co-
  9. >You glance at your horn.
  10. >Oh right, unicorn.
  11. >You give in a little focus, and you teleport away.
  12.
  13. >Cadance was getting tired, she knew it.
  14. >But she had to go on; she had to get out of here.
  15. >The shine was rattling now.
  16. >Either there is a cave in-
  17. >Cadance ran faster, not caring for her wounds.
  18. >She could rest when she’s dead.
  19.
  20. >You tug on the locket, but it is stuck tight.
  21. >Damn these jagged rocks.
  22. >The reflection is going off everywhere, as you struggle against the terrain.
  23. >Bet you’re signaling everypony out there.
  24.
  25. >Shining gasped, as he slowly fell to the soft mattress.
  26. >The sensation was… indescribable.
  27. >The way the soft coat brushed his tip was-
  28. >Heavenly.
  29. >He looked over to his fiancée, who lay right on top of him.
  30. >She purred, as she slowly took him in.
  31. >Shining moaned, but he stopped the mare.
  32. >”D-don’t you think-“
  33. >Cadance moves up and down, eliciting a squeak from the stallion.
  34. >”W-w-we should stop?”
  35. >”Only after two rounds?”
  36. >Cadance coos, and nuzzles to his neck.
  37. >Shining is at a loss of words.
  38.
  39. >You are at a loss of words.
  40. >This is absolute bullshit.
  41. >A part of you want to incinerate the trinket and go fuck a mare, but the other side is preventing it.
  42. >It’s saying you should go for stallions.
  43. >But strange thoughts aside, you are now biting onto the locket.
  44. >You’re tearing this off, even if it means your death.
  45.
  46. >Cadance was getting closer to the light, as it shivered faster.
  47. >Maybe it was responding to her proximity?
  48. >Possible.
  49. >But what if it was a trap for her?
  50. >At this point, she didn’t care.
  51. >This ‘Chrysalis’ could bite her.
  52.
  53. >Shining gasped, as Cadance slowly nibbled on his neck.
  54. >Then she took him entirely with her mouth, biting onto him.
  55. >”Careful there, honey…”
  56. >And then, he felt a sting down in the spot.
  57. >He gasped and tried to pull away, but Cadance held on.
  58. >”Uh, Cadance?”
  59. >The mare turned her pupils to him, before her form slowly melted away.
  60. >Shining could only scream as he faced the changeling.
  61. >This bug creature was chewing into his neck.
  62. >Shining could feel the warmth in his body leave.
  63. >He tried to teleport away, but he couldn’t move.
  64. >His magic was being drained away.
  65. >Shining struggled, but the changeling held him in his place.
  66. >It pulled away, and licked its reddened fangs.
  67. >”Oh my, aren’t you delicious, my love?”
  68. >It hissed.
  69. >Before he could scream again, the changeling plunged once more to his wound, chewing.
  70. >Shining squirmed, as his limbs fell limp.
  71. >His mouth was agape in an endless scream, but no sound came.
  72. >Chrysalis pulled away again, noticing his moving eyes.
  73. >”Good, you are still alive. I only wanted a taste of your love, but now-“
  74. >She leaned closer.
  75. >”I need to have it all.”
  76. >Chrysalis started to lick the wound, causing the stallion to whimper in pain.
  77. >She laughed at his crying form, and continued to feast.
  78. >Shining held onto his sanity, and reared his legs.
  79. >Just one shot…
  80. >In one single stroke of strength, Shining pushed Chrysalis off, and kicked her off the bed.
  81. >Clutching his wound, he rolled off the bed, and crawled away to his door.
  82. >While the changeling was still fazed, as the captain of the guards kicked the door open.
  83. >And then, he screamed again.
  84. >The three guards by his door were chopped to pieces, limb from limb, and joint from joint.
  85. >He saw the pale expression on their severed heads.
  86. >Lesser changelings, in tens, were sucking out every pinch of the guards’ magic and emotion.
  87. >They gorged on the flesh, as they emptied it of all possible auras.
  88. >Then they turned their heads to Shining.
  89. >They smiled, and slowly made their way to him, fangs bared.
  90. >He could not move anymore, he was too weak.
  91. >They all jumped at once.
  92. >Every corner of his body was bitten, and Shining finally found strength to scream.
  93. >Chrysalis appeared behind him, and bit her spot again.
  94. >She then lifted him with the bite, and gave a powerful flick.
  95. >His head snapped to an odd angle, and he was quiet.
  96.
  97. >You were feeling the locket coming loose.
  98. >You gave one last pull-
  99. >And with some rocks broken, it comes off.
  100. >Following your gained momentum, you fall over backwards.
  101. >You quickly realize your mistake, and you scream.
  102. >Unfortunately to your terrible scream, the ground was just below you.
  103. >Your landing was quite soft, actually.
  104. >”Ow!” You hear a voice, as you hit the ground.
  105. >That is no ground.
  106. >You roll away, to go face to face with-
  107. >Cadance.
  108. >Fate conspires against you, Anon.
  109. >She shakes her head, and regains her composure.
  110. >She looks to you, as the blur in her vision disappears.
  111. >”Shines?”
  112. >She giggles, before going in for a hug.
  113. >You back away, and stare at her with disgust.
  114. >”W-what’s wrong?”
  115. >You look over her, trying to summon up all of your anger.
  116. >But-
  117. >You just can’t.
  118. >You still loved her.
  119. >And she looked… Different.
  120. >Her mane was a mess; she had bruises here and there.
  121. >Her pink coat was stained with blood and dirt.
  122. ”Cadance, how the hell did you get here?”
  123. >”What do you mean? I was trapped in the cave since days ago!”
  124. >You pause.
  125. “What?”
  126. >”Yeah, I was kidnapped by some bugs!”
  127. >Oh wow, that PERFECTLY makes sense.
  128. >”Wasn’t I missed since our fight last time?”
  129. >What is this mare going on about; she was there the entire time.
  130. “Really, am I going to be a minotaur now?”
  131. >Cadance looks to you with annoyance, before taking a step closer.
  132. >As she tries to rebut your statement, she steps on something.
  133. >A metallic click to her own shoes is enough to get her attention.
  134. >She brings it up, examining your locket.
  135. “No, give me that!”
  136. >You take a few steps forward, but Cadance stops you with a hoof to the chest.
  137. >She smiles, and starts looking at the enchanted trinket.
  138. >Her magic prods it here and there, until she clicks something.
  139. >It starts to glow, until the golden aura is almost blinding.
  140. >You close your eyes, and protect it with a raised hoof.
  141.
  142. >When you open your eyes again, you’re not looking at a hoof.
  143. >A hand.
  144. >Your old hand.
  145. >It’s also covering the sun light, the warm sun.
  146. >Was it always this warm?
  147. >You feel a certain weight on your shoulder, and you turn to see Cadance.
  148. >You’re resting under your old tree, back in the park.
  149. >You can see Twilight in the distance playing around with her magic.
  150. >You sigh.
  151. >Not a disappointed one nor a sad one, but a content, happy sigh.
  152. >You then rest your head on hers, and close your eyes.
  153.
  154. >Cadance saw the scene through her own eyes, the park, Twilight…
  155. >And you.
  156. >And then, remembered.
  157. >She remembered why your song was so familiar.
  158. >She remembered why your smile curled that way.
  159. >She recalled everything.
  160. >Scenes after scenes rushed past her mind in an instant.
  161. >She staggered, and shook her head.
  162. >She seemed fazed for a second, and then she looked at you.
  163. >You stood there, missing the warmth.
  164. >Cadance slowly neared you; glancing you back and forth- as if she was making sure you were there.
  165. >You stand there, wondering what was going through this mare’s head.
  166. >She then pauses, and locks eye with you.
  167. >You smile sheepishly, as she leans closer.
  168. >Her movement is twitchy; she shoots back once in a while.
  169. >She finally brings her lips to yours, and you accept.
  170. >Your eyes automatically close, as you begin to taste her.
  171. >The kiss holds for a while, before Cadance pulls back, her eyes still closed.
  172. >She then smiles, and jumps to you.
  173. >”Anon!”
  174. >You smile and receive her, as she holds you tight.
  175. >”I-I thought you were dead!”
  176. >You can hear her sniffle.
  177. >You pat her back, and nuzzle on her cheek.
  178. >You can feel her tears drop on you.
  179. >”Ho-how did you become a pony?”
  180. “Celestia.”
  181. >”Celestia? She really is kind.”
  182. “That she is, Cadance, that she is.”
  183. >You pull her for another kiss.
  184.
  185. >Celestia paces worriedly to Shining’s room, ever since Anon’s disappearance.
  186. >If something happened between them…
  187. >She takes the turn to the captain’s quarters, until a certain smell reaches her.
  188. >It is a piercing, metallic smell.
  189. >She continues her path, lighting the darkened torches.
  190. >She screams at the sight.
  191. >Three guards, cut to tiny bits- all over the floor.
  192. >Guards rush in immediately, and them they see the horror as well.
  193. >Celestia, in her shock, immediately incinerates the gore.
  194. >The smell of burnt flesh stings her nose.
  195. >A guard passes out.
  196. >Celestia slowly moves towards the captain’s room.
  197. >She orders the guards to stand guard.
  198. >She opens it-
  199. >Shining’s pale face stares at her, frozen forever.
  200. >His body had bite marks everywhere, and his blood filled the room.
  201. >His head was slightly chewed, and it was bent to an awkward angle.
  202. >The room was a mess, and the windows were shattered.
  203. >No sign of the offender.
  204. >Celestia exits, and closes the door behind her.
  205. >She could not have the public know about this.
  206. >”Sergeant.” She turns to a guard.
  207. >He salutes.
  208. >”Find me Shines, now.”
  209. >She then realizes one thing-
  210. >Where was Cadance?
  211. >”And Princess Mi Amore, princess?”
  212. >”Her too.”
  213. >Celestia let out a desperate sigh, and fought off the incoming headache.
  214. >She was going to destroy that room.
  215.
  216. “Wait, what about Shining?”
  217. >You say, holding her back.
  218. >”What about him, Anon? I always wondered why I loved Shining so much, and well…”
  219. >She starts drawing circles on the dirt.
  220. >”He reminded me of you.”
  221. >You freeze.
  222. >”Everything I loved about him was from you, Anon- he was just too similar to you, and in my mind, he was –well- you.”
  223. “Then what will you do about him?”
  224. >”I-“
  225. >”Princess!” You hear another voice.
  226. >A Pegasus guard lands next to you, and salutes the two of you.
  227. >”Princess Celestia asked me to find the two of you.”
  228. >You grunt.
  229. “Could you get us a carriage? The princess is badly hurt.”
  230. >He nods.
  231. >”And the medic?”
  232. >You flash your horn.
  233. “I think I got it.”
  234. >Good thing you had your healing classes back then.
  235. >And they said it was girly and useless.
  236. >You watch as you magic slowly restores Cadance to her old form, her coat regaining color.
  237. >You watch as her bruises disappear, from her snout, down to her flank.
  238. >A hoof bats your nose.
  239. >”Are you checking me out, Anon?”
  240. >You can feel you face getting redder.
  241. >Cadance giggles again.
  242. >You loved that laugh.
  243. >You lean onto her, and she does the same.
  244. >Holy shit, this felt good.
  245.
  246. >Holy shit, this was bad.
  247. >You look over Shining’s dead body, torn apart as it is.
  248. >Cadance immediately looks away, and she cries into your shoulder.
  249. >You were staring down your dead brother, killed in a gruesome and painful way.
  250. >But… You can’t find any care for him.
  251. >Not even a tear.
  252. >He was the one who got you killed.
  253. >Cadance’s cries were more heart breaking to you.
  254. “Well, what will happen now?”
  255. >Celestia shakes her head.
  256. >”I- I don’t know, Anonymous, this entire week was a disaster.”
  257. >”W-what killed him?” Cadance chimes in.
  258. >”We’re not sure, but it drained him of all magic and emotions.
  259. “And his body?”
  260. >”It is working fine, actually. The meds say his blood is sufficient, and his organs are in place.” A guard answers you.
  261. >”As if something took away his very soul…”
  262. “What will happen to me?”
  263. >Celestia shakes her head again.
  264. >”I do not know, and with his death, there will be rumors again- about you killing him, probably.”
  265. >”B-but Anon wouldn’t! He would never!”
  266. >”And they would just think you are love-struck, Cadenza.”
  267. >”What if you talked to them? They would surely listen to you!”
  268. >Celestia sighs.
  269. >”But the bad word is already there, Cadance- Anon will never recover.”
  270. >”What if he was a different pony?”
  271. >”Then they would assume Shines ran away, under my watch.”
  272. >”So we’re going to lie for the sake of the public not being able to handle the truth?”
  273. >You lay a comforting hoof on Cadance.
  274. >She shrugs it off, and faces Celestia.
  275.
  276. “So, do I have to go away now?”
  277. >”Give me a night, Anonymous, I’ll handle it then.”
  278. “Alright, good night, Princess.”
  279. >You wave her away, as you join Cadance.
  280. >”Shining… I can’t believe he’s dead…”
  281. >You pull her close.
  282. “I’m sorry, Cadance. But we can’t change what happened.”
  283. >”What about you?”
  284. “What about me?”
  285. >”If auntie is right, you’ll have to go! I can’t lose you too, I already lost Shining!”
  286. >She sobs into your chest, as you run your hoof through her mane, trying to calm her down.
  287. “Celestia will have a plan, I promise you. But Cadance?”
  288. >”Yeah?”
  289. “Will you risk everything for me? For an idiot?”
  290. >”Don’t say that.”
  291. >She kisses you.
  292. >”You may be an idiot, but you’re my idiot.”
  293. >With that, she smiles a little.
  294. >You smile back, and led her to her room.
  295.
  296. >”Anonymous, I do have a plan-“
  297. “Do it.”
  298. >”Even if it brings back Shining?”
  299. “For everyone’s sake, we must do what is needed. Do it, princess.”
  300. >”You say it as if it is a bad thing, Anonymous.”
  301. >You blink.
  302. “It’s not?”
  303. >There is her smile again.
  304.
  305. >”Are you sure this is a good idea?” He asks.
  306. >”What choice do you have? You have to see them sooner or later.”
  307. >”And now that I look like this-“
  308. >”You’ll be fine- Shiny.”
  309. >He frowns at the word.
  310. >She opens the door, and the two head in.
  311. >”Cadance!” The little filly shouts, as she runs to her open hoof.
  312. >The two embrace, and Cadance lets Twilight go.
  313. >”My, my, it’s been forever since the two of you visited, Cadance!” Mrs. Sparkle chimes in, as Mr. Sparkle prepares the dinner.
  314. >Mrs. Sparkle looks over to her son, a strapping young stallion.
  315. >His well-built body, his waving blue mane- and it looks like he got taller in the training.
  316. >She was proud of him, he was a model citizen.
  317. >A captain, no less.
  318. >He reminded her of another pony, but she couldn’t quite place her hoof on it.
  319. >”Shining, how is the training?”
  320. >He smiles.
  321. >”Bet it’s going good, eh, kiddo?” Dad comes in, holding his signature salad bowl.
  322. >He lets out a laugh, and looks to Cadance.
  323. >He must really love her.
  324. >She glances back.
  325. >Too bad he called off the wedding; both sides thought they needed more time to catch up.
  326. >Of course, Mrs. Sparkle agreed.
  327. >And Shining wanted Twilight to be old enough for her to be his best mare.
  328. >He was such a sweet boy.
  329. >”So, Shining-“
  330. >He raises a hoof.
  331. >”Dad, dad, please.”
  332. >He sounds different.
  333.
  334. >You smile.
  335.
  336. “Call me Shines.”
  337.
  338. ~FIN~
