  1. Pokémon Series Race
  2.
  3. This a tag-team race of all Pokémon gen 1-9 main series games, including (almost) all side games. The additional requirement: catch one of every Pokémon in at least one main series game, excluding event only or those that need multiple systems to be obtained legitimately. Teams may consist of up to 3 people taking turns. Team members will run relay-style to effectively create a non-stop run.
  4.
  5. Games and rules:
  6.
  7. All categories use the ruleset specified on speedrun.com for that specific category (unless otherwise specified) as of the starting time of the race. Runners are recommended to stay in touch with the respective communities or to check the rulesets regularly of each game to keep up-to-date with any rule changes.

  90.
  91.
  92. Catching Rules:
  93. All pokemon must be caught in a main series game. Every pokemon must be obtained in a game associated with the generation that pokemon debuted in. When we say generation in this case, we are referring to generations based on regions. The games go as follows.
  94.
  95. - Generation 1: Red, Blue, Yellow, Firered, Leafgreen, Let's Go Pikachu, Let's Go Eevee
  96. - Generation 2: Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heartgold, Soulsilver
  97. - Generation 3: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness
  98. - Generation 4: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Legends Arceus
  99. - Generation 5: Black, White, Black 2, White 2
  100. - Generation 6: X, Y
  101. - Generation 7: Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon
  102. - Generation 8: Sword, Shield
  103. - Generation 9: Scarlet, Violet
  104.
  105.
  106. Pokemon that debuted in Legends: Arceus will be obtained in Legends: Arceus, despite them being generation 8 pokemon and Legends: Arceus being considered a generation 4 game
  107.
  108. If a pokemon has an altered form (Alolan, Hisuian, Galarian, Paldean), you may also get the pokemon in that generation as well. For example, you may either get Kanto Exeggutor in a gen 1 game or Alolan Exeggutor in a gen 7 game. You do not need both.
  109.
  110. If trading/online connection is the only way a pokemon can be obtained in its generation, that is permitted. You must trade with a file that was created earlier in the series race. This applies to the following pokemon
  111.
  112. - Alakazam
  113. - Golem
  114. - Gengar
  115. - Politoed
  116. - Slowking
  117. - Scizor
  118. - Kingdra
  119. - Porygon2
  120. - Huntail
  121. - Gorebyss
  122. - Conkeldurr
  123. - Escavalier
  124. - Accelgor
  125. - Landorus (Halq thinks this is silly)
  126. - Aromatisse
  127. - Slurpuff
  128. - Gourgeist
  129. - Palafin
  130.
  131. If a pokemon is unobtainable in any of its generation games but is obtainable in a future game, you must get it the first future game you can get it in. This applies to the following pokemon:
  132.
  133. - Mew (Obtained in BDSP)
  134. - Jirachi (Obtained in BDSP)
  135. - Keldeo (Obtained in Sword/Shield)
  136. - 1 Galarian Starter Line (Obtained in Scarlet/Violet)
  137.
  138. Some pokemon are unobtainable despite our best efforts. The following pokemon do not need to be obtained at all:
  139. - Victini
  140. - Meloetta
  141. - Genesect
  142. - Diancie
  143. - Hoopa
  144. - Volcanion
  145. - Magearna
  146. - Marshadow
  147. - Zeraora
  148. - Meltan
  149. - Melmetal
  150. - Zarude
  151. - Walking Wake
  152. - Iron Leaves
  153. - Possibly Pecharunt (event currently has no end date. If it continues to have no end date, then Pecharunt will be required)
  154.
  155. Due to all this, 1,010/1,011 Pokémon must be obtained in addition to the above list of games that need to be finished.
  156.
  157. Note 1: you do not need to have a living dex, so evolving your Squirtle into Wartortle and then Blastoise without catching another will count as having obtained all 3. However, this does not mean you can restart saves without losing several hours, so we will be using (almost) all 27 starters throughout! You must have saved with everything as well, so catching Pokemon A, resetting, and catching Pokemon B will result in only Pokemon B counting. You must have everything caught saved on a file, regardless of what game it is in.
  158. Note 2: The race is open for anyone to join, so if you have a team, by all means. To sign up contact Robthegamer115
