sol was born to a korean father and spanish mother. she has lived in spain for three years from the ages of 9-11 due to her father's career, where she studied the english and spanish language. for the rest of her upbringing, she was raised in busan. growing up with a wealthy family meant that all her wishes were easily granted with money. so she can be quite bratty at times. moreover, she was average as a student, never really failed, usually passed. for that, her father pressured her to become an athlete, since she took taekwondo lessons since young. but instead of focusing on that, she developed a liking towards music, particularly of the rnb genre. in the end, she decided to become a rapper, a decision heavily influenced by western acts, and also Bigbang and 2ne1 who she looks up to. before debuting as an artiste, she frequently posted rap covers and renditions of famous songs on youtube.
