  1. Hi from Benjamin of the self-proclaimed RED PARTY!
  2.
  3. Have you ever felt bogged down by bureaucracy?
  4. Ever felt like the ruling class doesn't want support the activities you want to do?
  5. Ever gotten a firm no when asking for funds to go do something with some of your colleagues while other people get a strong yes to do activities you aren't even slightly interested in?
  6.
  7. Then listen up!
  8.
  9. I strongly believe that you can't have fun designed by committee, and adding more people to that committee won't make their suggestions more fun, or make it easier to execute on events with a deadline (like say that one movie premiere or special event).
  10. Bureaucracy is actively unfun because you'll always be pandering to everyone - and it's just a universal truth that not everyone likes board-games, or Marvel movies, or going to museums or whatever.
  11.
  12. What bureaucracy aims to do is to be fair and it sometimes even almost succeeds... But fun isn't about being fair, fun can't be planned by paper-pushers who doesn't have the same fun interests as you. Fun has to have a certain spontaneous and exciting in-the-moment involvement from passionate people.
  13.
  14. Bureaucracy won't let you do that...
  15.
  16. If you and 2 of your colleagues want to go run a marathon and have funny shirts - bureaucracy will tell you NO because only some people are interested, or fun shirts aren't fun enough to waste money on.
  17.
  18. If you want to have a LAN party - The committee might tell you NO because it's an interest only some people have.
  19.
  20. The committee might decide to try to mash a bunch of ideas together but half of the day you'll be doing something you don't like because someone else likes it, which is completely fair but it's not fun!
  21.
  22. A committee might tell you "If you don't think it's fun you don't have to go" which just means that you get punished and excluded for not finding the same things fun as other people.
  23.
  24. My solution to this is to leave the system out of your enjoyment - it should never have been in there to begin with!
  25.
  26. Under my leadership we will attempt to retain fairness while leaving bureaucracy out of your fun!
  27.
  28. I have devised a system where you save up 120 fun-bucks every month which can be spent on any approved fun activity you can think of with your colleagues. You can either spend them all each month, or save them up and spend them all on plane tickets to go somewhere, or you can go see a movie every month.
  29.
  30. The approval process will be very lenient and will only be in place because our the paper-pushers demand it. If it involves more than 1 employee and it can in any way be described as fun it will be approved.
  31.
  32. A system will be put in place to track your fun-bucks and create events you can commit them to. You can then create an event and drum up support until you reach your budget, or split it between fun-bucks and some personal payments.
  33.
  34. I'm still waiting for the bureaucracy to figure out exactly how the budget works including things such as if it expires at year end etc.
  35.
  36. Examples for things you could spend your fun-bucks on:
  37. - Secret santa
  38. - Movie tickets
  39. - Plane tickets to Crete
  40. - Food for board-game nights
  41. - Soda for LAN parties
  42. - Prizes for hackathons
  43. - Funny t-shirts
  44. - etc
  45. Vote for me if you don't want someone else to dictate how you are allowed to have fun!
  46.
  47. Vote for me if you believe in social-liberalism where the good events survive and the weak doesn't but we still treat everyone fairly!
  48.
  49. Vote for me if you believe in personal choice but doesn't want to be punished for it!
  50.
  51. Vote for me if you believe in a no-bullshit approach to getting activities approved!
  52.
  53. Don't vote for me if you'd rather have no choice in the matter, if you hate fun, or if you like to be shot down by people who doesn't understand your interests - if that's your opinion then there's plenty of other candidates out there for you....
