- Parks walks over to Elena. She sits there with her friends.
- Elena is timid. She shies away from Parks.
- PARKS
- Hi! I'm Dave, how are you?
- Elena makes a small wave toward him.
- PARKS
- Yeah, I know, that Carlos guy is
- kind of a handful.
- ELENA
- You're not all like that, are you?
- I feel like he's the type to give
- candy out of a white van.
- PARKS
- Only the good kind. Besides, he's
- only been allowed to grow a 'stache
- recently.
- A karaoke machine sits on top of the stage. A drunken Don
- stumbles up it. He wears a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. His
- head is still shaved.
- ELENA
- That your friend?
- PARKS
- Yeah...
- From on stage, Don shoots Parks a wink.
- PARKS
- (mouthing)
- What the fuck are you doing?
- Elena blushes at Don.
- ELENA
- He's kinda cute. I like a guy who
- can sing.
- PARKS
- I uh... I don't think I can sing.
- Parks's gaze changes to that of shock.
- Don grins as he changes the song.
- REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You plays.
- PARKS
- Oh, fuck.
- DON
- You should've seen by the look in
- my eyes, baby!
- Other cover their ears, some in the crowd wince at Don's
- singing.
- DON
- There was somethin', missing!
- Don points to Parks and motions for him to get on stage.
- DON
- You should've known by the tone of
- my voice, maybe! But you didn't
- listen!
- Parks looks over at Elena.
- PARKS
- If I do this, I'm getting
- your phone number. Deal?
- DON
- You played dead, but you
- never bled, instead you lay
- still in the grass all coiled
- and hissin'!
- IND PATRON
- Get off the stage, retard!
- Elena grins at this.
- ELENA
- No promises, cutie.
- Parks makes his way past the other patrons.
- DON
- And though I know all about those
- men... Still I don't remember.
- Cause it was us, baby way before
- then and were still together!
- Parks makes it on stage.
- DON
- And I meant! Every word I said,
- when I said that I love you
- forever...
- Don looks over at Parks and gives him a nod.
- DON
- Ladies and gentlemen, David fucking
- Parks!
- Parks takes the mic from him.
- PARKS
- And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you!
- Cause it's the only thing I wanna
- do! I don't want to sleep, I just
- want to keep on loving you!
- The guitar solo starts. Don makes his way off stage and
- smiles at Parks.
- PARKS
- This one is for the nice brown hair
- lady, Elena!
- PARKS
- And I meant every word I said, when
- I said that I love you I meant I
- love you forever! And I'm gonna
- keep on loving you! Cause it's the
- only thing I want to do! I don't
- want to sleep, I just want to keep
- on loving you!
- Elena takes a napkin and starts to write her phone number
- down on it. She walks over to Don and passes it to him.
- Parks's look changes to fear and confusion.
- PARKS
- I don't wanna sleep, I don't want
- to sleep, I just want to keep on
- loving you!
- The song ends.
- Applause rings out through the audience.
- Parks puts the mic back and comes down the stage.
- Don shoots Parks a grin.
- DON
- She wanted me to give you this.
- Parks looks down.
- The napkin reads, "Elena" with a phone number following it.
- PARKS
- Holy shit.
- Don pats Parks on the back.
- DON
- Go get her, Dave. I have someone of
- my own already.
- Parks smiles at this. With a sense of purpose he walks to the
- outside of the bar.
- FADE TO BLACK.
