  1. Introduction
  2.
  3. The below summary is very thorough and contains massive spoilers for Dragon Ball Super: Broly. You have been warned. If that is what you are here for, your reading experience would be greatly enhanced with the RES browser extension, which embeds images and clips. All of the clips are sourced from promotional videos; the potato cam gifs are from the Tokyo premiere stream. If you want information other than full spoilers, see our Broly Information Database.
  4. Part 1: Prologue
  5.
  6. 41 years ago
  7. (Freeza theme)
  8.
  9. King Cold watches Planet Vegeta through his scouter screen as his fleet approaches, attended closely by Beriblu, Kikono, Zarbon, Dodoria, the Ginyus, and others. The Saiyans take notice as the ships enter the atmosphere; Gine emerges from her house with a concerned expression. Cold's vanguard flies out of the mothership in advance of its landing, and the fleet takes no care avoiding structures as the ships fly up to the king's castle, and some structures are destroyed, which angers Beets (who we will meet later).
  10.
  11. A Saiyan enters the throne room to inform King Vegeta that King Cold has come, but he can see that for himself; the king seems displeased at this unexpected visit, and nervous, while Paragus is seen shaking in fear as the ships fly past the windows of the throne room. The vanguard lands at the spaceport, followed by the mothership. Cold disembarks with his entourage, including his son Freeza.
  12.
  13. King Vegeta and his retinue go to meet them. Cold greets King Vegeta, who offers his hand in welcome, but Cold ignores it. He instead introduces the Saiyans to Freeza, and after a brief hesitation, the king welcomes Freeza-sama and kneels before him; the other Saiyans follow suit. Freeza acknowledges their greeting.
  14.
  15. Cold announces his retirement and the ascension of his young son, placing a fatherly hand on his shoulder, which Freeza clearly dislikes. Cold explains that Saiyans will serve Freeza as they have served him; the only thing that will change is that Freeza is more cruel than he. When Cold is done speaking, Freeza flicks the hand off his shoulder and laughs, introducing himself with condescension. He announces that he has high expectations for the Saiyans, causing the king to blanch. However, he has an inaugural gift for his new subjects, a number of devices called "scouters", which are a compact version of the "scout-scopes" the Saiyans have used previously, and they can be worn as headgear.
  16.
  17. As Freeza demonstrates the ability of these new scouters to detect life forms and assess battle power, he notices snipers aiming for him from the battlements of the castle. He remarks that one of them has a battle power of over 2000, and then he takes out all three mutineers before anyone knows what is going on. Freeza leaves them with 500 scouters; the fleet departs, and Vegeta is left crushing his scouter in frustration.
  18.
  19. Afterwards, King Vegeta checks on his son in his nursing capsule. He is proud of Prince Vegeta's potential and declares that his son will rule the universe instead of that monster Freeza. The king becomes angry, however, when he notices an unknown child in a nearby capsule; this nursery is supposed to be exclusive to the Saiyan elites. One of the Saiyan medics on hand tells the king that Broly is the son of Paragus. His power readings fluctuate but his battle power is abnormally high, maybe even higher than that of Prince Vegeta.
  20.
  21. King Vegeta does not believe this, so he takes a device for reading battle power from the medic and places it against the tank. Broly starts crying, and the device explodes. A scientist is nearby taking notes; she says that, even discounting outlier readings, Broly's battle power is quite high, and she speculates that Broly might be the legendary Super Saiyan. After hearing the scientist's words, King Vegeta's resolve hardens; he has made up his mind.
  22.
  23. Soon after, Paragus runs and is half-pushed into the throne room where he takes a knee, begging an audience with the king. He asks to know why Broly is being sent to a frontier world like a low-class Saiyan. King Vegeta tries to claim that it's a training mission for Broly to develop his extraordinary potential, and cultivating planets for sale is what Saiyans do, isn't it? But Paragus points out that Vampa is just a planetoid with a harsh environment and no humanoid life forms; it wouldn't even be a good planet to sell.
  24.
  25. King Vegeta confesses that he fears Broly's power might pose a danger to Planet Vegeta, and maybe even the whole universe; Paragus should be grateful that his son's life was spared. (Outside the castle, Broly's pod is already preparing for takeoff.) Paragus suggests that the king is just jealous of Broly's power which exceeds that of the prince. This gets under the king's skin, so he cruelly informs Paragus that Broly's pod has already taken off. Paragus flies off in a panic, crashing through the stained-glass window of the throne room to head for the spaceport.
  26.
  27. Paragus sets his sights on a spaceship to steal and makes a beeline for it, pushing aside a Saiyan named Beets, who follows after him in protest. Paragus wastes no time on him and takes off for Planet Vampa with Beets in tow. As he pilots the ship through the atmosphere, he fills Beets in on the details of his plight and his mission: the king was jealous of Broly's power, and removed him from his nursing capsule to send him to a desolate world. Paragus plans to retrieve Broly from Planet Vampa and then serve out their exile on a more habitable planet, though Beets is free to return home. Paragus only sees one path forward for himself: he will train Broly's incredible power and get his revenge against the king.

  29. Opening Credits
  30. Broly arrives on Planet Vampa
  31.
  32. Paragus and Beets approach Planet Vampa, which is actually a planetoid, almost as small as an asteroid. Paragus ignores cautions from Beets and heads straight for where Broly should have landed two days previous. This results in a crash landing, but they survive mostly unharmed. Paragus dons some kind of mask and they begin to search for Broly using one of the old scout-scopes. Soon, they hear a noise approaching; a group of gigantic spider creatures is approaching. One of them attacks Paragus, but he manages to get free; he tries attacking the creature, but his attacks just bounce off its shell. They manage to take shelter in a cave, where Beets tearfully informs Paragus that he's not even a fighter. They stay in the cave until sunrise, when they resume their search for Broly. Beets notices that Planet Vampa has a moon, and that it is just short of being full; Beets has never transformed into a Great Ape before, so Paragus advises him to avoid looking at the moon.
  33.
  34. During their search, they enter one of the planet's craters which appears to be filled with a soft, grassy surface. Soon, the crater is surrounded with the giant spider creatures. They penetrate the "grass" with long, barbed appendages extending from their mouths, and start sucking up something underneath the surface. Suddenly, there is an earthquake; Paragus and Beets take to the air as the grassy field takes shape and an open mouth emerges from the surface, extending into a gigantic snake-like creature with the face of an attack dog. It begins attacking the spider creatures and eating them, causing Paragus to realize how the food chain works on this planet: the spider creatures suck the blood of the snake creatures, and the snake creatures eat the spider creatures.
  35.
  36. They distance themselves from the scene, and then Beets spots Broly's pod in the distance. The pod seems to have been ruined in a crash landing, but Broly is not there. Paragus uses a scope to search, and they eventually find Broly inside a cave that seems to serve as a nest for the spider-creatures; it is full of what looks like their eggs, and the corpses of several adult creatures. Broly soon emerges from one of the adult claws, a piece of a sucker-tongue in his hand; Paragus tells Broly how happy he is to see him, but Broly seems wary. Beets uses the scout-scope to gauge Broly's battle power, which is 920—higher than his own—but Paragus believes that 920 would not be high enough to combat the spider-creatures. He notices that Broly's armor is a little loose on his body, and realizes that Broly must have transformed into a Great Ape the night before when the moon was full.
  37.
  38. They return to their ship to escape the planet, but it turns out that the ship's main floater was damaged in their crash landing. They are stranded on Planet Vampa. They are too far away to call for help, and they only have enough food and water for ten days. Beets doubts anyone will find them so quickly; Paragus agrees, and shoots Beets with an energy weapon to preserve their rations.
  39.
  40. Five years later
  41.
  42. Bardock is returning from battle to Planet Vegeta; Freeza has ordered all the Saiyans to return home. The Saiyan pilot wakes him from sleep to let him know they are about to arrive. The pilot expresses his curiosity about Freeza's order, and Bardock tells him to take off his scouter; someone might be listening. Freeza's ship is already in the planet's orbit, but it will be some time before all the Saiyans return to the planet. Bardock is suspicious about this order; if Freeza wanted to send them an important message, he could have done it wirelessly. Even if he wanted to give them some kind of new measuring device, there would be no need to rush all the Saiyans back to the home planet. Cold and Freeza have always found the Saiyans to be a useful tool, but Bardock wonders whether Freeza has decided he doesn't need them anymore.
  43.
  44. They enter the atmosphere with dozens of other ships and land in Bardock's village and disembark. The village is bustling with activity, and carts pulling space pods are passing through. Bardock's pilot wants to look on the bright side, but Bardock thinks he is being foolish. Another Saiyan calls out to Bardock, speculating that Freeza has identified a valuable planet that will require all the Saiyans to purge, and Bardock's pilot is happy to latch onto this explanation. The other Saiyan then mentions that Freeza has been asking around about the legendary Super Saiyan, which makes Bardock even more suspicious.
  45.
  46. On Freeza's ship, Kikono is telling Freeza that the legends of the Super Saiyan and the Super Saiyan God are just that…legends. Freeza agrees, but he doesn't want to take any chances, and this is the perfect opportunity to wipe out the Saiyans once and for all.
  47.
  48. Bardock arrives at his house and finds Gine working in her butcher shop; she is happy to see him. Bardock asks after Raditz, and Gine says he is away on a mission with Prince Vegeta (Bardock has sympathy for Raditz on this account), and he also asks if Kakarot is still in his nursing capsule. Gine says it's almost time to take him out, and asks if Bardock wants to see him. They enter the room with his nursing capsule. Bardock observes that he is still small, and Gine says he is a late bloomer, but he looks just like Bardock, especially his hair.
  49.
  50. Bardock's expression becomes grave, and he tells Gine that as soon as night falls, they should steal a space pod and send Kakarot to another planet. Gine protests, but then Bardock explains his suspicions about Freeza; since Kakarot's potential is low, he would have been sent off-world either way, so they should send him now before Freeza makes his move. Freeza has been asking about the legend of the Super Saiyan; Bardock thinks he is scared.
  51.
  52. When night falls, Bardock steals a pod and puts Kakarot inside, and Gine follows as he carries it out into the badlands outside the village. Gine thinks they should all try to escape together, but Bardock tells her they would be detected by scouters if they tried it. Kakarot is the only one they can save. Bardock has programmed the pod's destination for a planet called Earth, far enough away to escape Freeza's interest, with a native population weak enough to pose no threat to Kakarot. They set the pod down, and Kakarot cries. If Bardock is wrong about Freeza, they can always go to Earth later and bring him back home. They resolve themselves to their decision; Bardock tells Kakarot to survive, no matter what, and they say goodbye to their son. Bardock touches the glass of the pod's window, and Kakarot places his hand against the glass too. The pod takes off, and Gine breaks down in tears. Bardock comforts her as they watch him hurtle through space.
  53.
  54. On Freeza's ship, Kikono warns Freeza that destroying the Saiyans will reduce their forces by nearly half, but Freeza isn't too worried about that; he knows the Saiyans will turn on him the first chance they get. He decides it's time. A hatch opens, and Freeza floats out in his hover-throne, wasting no time launching the attack to destroy the planet. The Saiyans notice the sky turning bright red; Gine looks up from her work in the butcher shop, and Bardock's pilot stares in shock as the ball of fire approaches. Bardock and some of the other Saiyans fly up to investigate, but they never see Freeza. Bardock alone launches a beam to stop Freeza's attack, but inexorably Freeza's attack overwhelms his own, and his death mirrors the Bardock special, with his armor being burned off as he is killed and the planet is destroyed. Freeza joyfully proclaims that he feels like a weight has been lifted as the life signs on his scouter screen dwindle down to zero.
  55.
  56. Somewhere out in space, Vegeta is on a mission with Raditz, Nappa, and two other adult Saiyans. One of these two informs the other adults that Planet Vegeta has been destroyed by a meteor. They are shocked, and they rush to inform the prince. Raditz (in a voice quite similar to Kid Pilaf, for some reason) says they were lucky to be spared, and Vegeta muses that he will never be King Vegeta, now. Nappa asks, "Vegeta, you had a younger brother, right?" And Vegeta responds, "Oh yeah, whatever happened to him? Oh well, not like I care." Nappa asks Raditz about Kakarot, and Raditz says that Kakarot doesn't matter because he is a weakling, but his mother had earlier relayed the message that Kakarot had been sent off-world. Prince Vegeta looks toward the sky and laughs.
  57.
  58. Back on Planet Vampa, Broly is eating an spider creature from a giant eggshell, and he looks toward the sky as Kakarot's space pod passes by. The pod makes its way toward Earth to the tune of a Sumitomo arrangement of Cha-La, performed by HamojiN.
  59.
  60. Goku arrives on Earth, beginning an on-screen counter which starts in Age 737 and scrolls through the years in front of a progression of stills from the lives of Goku, Vegeta, and Broly, with brief action shots of all three in the foreground (though Broly is only seen as a child). The stills begin with scenes from earlier in the movie and progress all the way through Cell; the moving images in the foreground end with Saiyan-arc Goku vs Vegeta, and three eras of Goku vs Vegeta seem to be represented as that final action shot morphs into a present-day spar between them with Vegeta wearing his Boo arc gear (left, which he hasn't worn since). Thus begins the second quarter of the film.
  61. Part 2: After the Tournament
  62.
  63. Goku and Vegeta are sparring near Bulma's summer home, on an island far to the south of West City. Bulma is watching from a distance; she takes off her sunglasses and smiles fondly, sipping her drink. Next to her is Bra, who is a little bit older, but still a baby. Whis is getting all worked up over some food, and Beerus is trying to take a nap. Bulma remarks that the island is otherwise uninhabited, so Goku and Vegeta don't have to worry about collateral damage, but Beerus gets angry when they wake him from his nap with their noise, so they take a break to join the others for food.
  64.
  65. Whis asks Goku why he is seeking even greater strength; is he trying to become the next God of Destruction? Beerus wants to know the answer to that question, too. Goku insists that he has no interest in that job, which offends Beerus. Goku explains that it's just because he met incredible guys from other universes at the Tournament of Power. This is accompanied by a couple of newly-drawn stills of several warriors from the tournament; the first features several characters including Ribrianne, Kefla, Iwne, Mosco, Champa, and Ag; the second features Jiren, Toppo, Dyspo, and Vermoud. Goku's raring to go, and even transforms into a Super Saiyan like he just couldn't help it, but he immediately lets the form go.
  66.
  67. Whis then poses the same question to Vegeta, whose motivation is the imminent danger of Freeza. Goku tells Vegeta there's nothing to worry about; Freeza helped them win the tournament after all. (Beerus is not amused.) Vegeta says they shouldn't expect Freeza to be grateful he was resurrected; now that they understand Freeza's potential for growth, Vegeta doesn't want to risk the possibility that Freeza might get even stronger and pose a real threat to them. Bickering ensues and Vegeta tells Goku he is too stupid to grasp reality.
  68.
  69. Bulma receives a call on her wristwatch (à la the 2008 special) from Trunks, who is with Goten and the Pilaf gang at Capsule Corp. The six Dragon Balls that Bulma had collected in her lab have been stolen. Vegeta tells Bulma she needs better security. Trunks sends the surveillance footage through the watch, which reveals that the thieves were wearing Freeza-style armor. The adults instantly recognize what is going on, but none of them say anything until Bulma ends the call with Trunks. Vegeta thinks that Freeza must have sent grunts so that no one would sense them. Goku wonders what Freeza would wish for; he can't wish to be the strongest in the universe because that would be beyond Shenlong's power.Vegeta thinks it's obvious: Freeza would wish for immortality. (Beerus seems unnerved by this prospect.) Everyone agrees that Freeza must be stopped; whatever his wish is, it won't be good.
  70.
  71. Fortunately, Bulma always has a spare Dragon Radar, and she already knows where to find the last ball. It's on the arctic continent; she saved it for last because it's so cold there. Freeza's goons are surely already en route, so Goku and Vegeta agree to travel with her to go stop them. Whis wants to go with them, but Beerus wants to stay where the food is, so Bulma happily saddles him with Bra, and as they take off, Beerus yells after them.
  72.
  73. As they fly to their destination, Goku asks Bulma why she wants to collect the Dragon Balls; after some prodding, she admits that she wants to become 5 years younger, and Goku can't believe she would waste a wish on something so trivial. Whis asks, why only 5 years? Bulma says that anything more would be too noticeable. She mocks her hypothetical critics along the lines of: "Oh Bulma-san, you must have had some work done…" Goku points out that she kind of is anyway, using the Dragon Balls, and she goes full throttle in irritation, sending Goku flying to the back of the ship where a stack of luggage collapses on his head, making Vegeta laugh.
  74.
  75. Meanwhile on Freeza's ship, Kikono relays the news that the six Dragon Balls collected by Vegeta's wife have been secured, along with the Dragon Radar which they are using to find the last one. This pleases Freeza but he thinks they should wait until all seven are secured before heading to Earth; the Earth Saiyans don't need scouters to sense their presence. Kikono wants to know whether Freeza will wish for immortality, as he has always wanted, but Freeza's experience in Hell taught him that immortality is not all it is cracked up to be; what if he is paralyzed, like he was in his cocoon, but can't die? Kikono suggests he wish for invincibility instead, but Freeza thinks that would be boring.
  76.
  77. Beriblu hits the mark when she guesses that he wants to wish to be taller; Freeza's reaction confirms it, and Kikono can't believe it. But Beriblu has witnessed Freeza's ruthlessness with people who disparage his stature. Freeza swears them to secrecy and admits that he wants to wish to be 5 centimeters taller. Kikono then asks why Freeza doesn't just use his taller second form, but Freeza insistently wants to be taller in his true form. Kikono finally asks, why only 5 centimeters? Freeza says that anything more would be too noticeable. Maybe if he only wishes for 5cm, people will think he is still growing.
  78.
  79. Somewhere out in space, Cheelye and Lemo have been searching for strong people to recruit into the Freeza Army. Cheelye is a fresh recruit herself, but Lemo is an old veteran. Cheelye is frustrated with their mission; it's like searching for a needle in a haystack, but Lemo reminds her that they were ordered to find as many warriors as possible in order to strengthen Freeza's depleted forces. Cheelye doesn't understand; she thought the army was big enough, but Lemo has heard that a large portion of their army was killed by Freeza himself. Lemo then asks why Cheelye joined up; she admits that she stole a ship from the Galactic Patrol, so she hoped that Freeza's army would offer her some protection. She asks Lemo if he has ever met Freeza, but since Lemo is a non-combatant, he has only even seen Freeza once. Cheelye has heard that Freeza is really short, and Lemo warns her never to repeat that if she values her life.
  80.
  81. As they pass by Planet Vampa, they intercept a distress signal from an older-model ship. Hoping to get a bonus, they make landing and investigate the old wreckage. Paragus, now old and gray-haired, sees the ship and runs out from a nearby cave to go meet them. He asks if they are with Freeza's army. Lemo spots the tail and recognizes that Paragus is a Saiyan, but Cheelye doesn't seem to know what that is. Paragus introduces himself and explains that he has been stranded here ever since he crash-landed on the planet. Cheelye reads his battle power at 4200, which is a lot higher than she expected for such an old man. As they express their amazement, a giant spider creature approaches, but Paragus yells for Broly, who drops the claw he was munching on and swoops in, taking care of the creature with ease. Cheelye is awed by his performance; she tries to read his battle power, but her scouter just blanks out as Paragus introduces Broly to them on the scouter screen. Cheelye tells Lemo about her issue with the scouter, so he tries to get a reading on his, but he doesn't have any luck either. They can't believe their good fortune, and they hasten to deliver this magnificent specimen to Freeza.
  82.
  83. On the ship, Cheelye gives Broly a snack bar; he tries to eat it from her hand, but she stops him, explaining that she has to take it out of the wrapper first. She tears open the wrapper, and Broly sniffs it. After some encouragement from Paragus, he takes a bite, and his eyes widen at the taste. He grabs it with both hands and starts munching on it with glee; Cheelye is taken aback at first, but then she laughs and says "It's good, isn't it?" It's gone in a few seconds, and Broly holds the wrapper upside-down to see if there is any more hiding in there, and Paragus reminds Broly of his manners, so he thanks Cheelye awkwardly but politely for the snack. (arigatou gozaimasu) She teaches him how to say "thank you" informally (English) with the 👌 gesture; he repeats the words and the gesture, to Cheelye's delight.
  84.
  85. When they arrive on Freeza's ship, Beriblu goes to inform Freeza of their arrival, which catches his interest right away. He can't believe there are still other Saiyans out there. Freeza asks what happened to Broly's tail; Paragus explains that he removed it because Broly could not control himself when he transformed, and he was too dangerous. Freeza wants to know if he otherwise has problems with control, but Paragus insists it's only rarely. Freeza counters that "rarely" is not "never", so Paragus tells Freeza about Broly's collar, a device of his own invention. When Broly loses control, he uses the remote control he keeps in his belt to electrocute Broly into submission. Broly becomes visibly unnerved when Paragus takes out the remote to show it to Freeza, and starts gripping his collar in fear as if trying to remove it, which Lemo and Cheelye do not fail to notice.
  86.
  87. Freeza asks after Broly's name but Broly just blinks and looks away; Paragus hastens to answer on his behalf. Freeza can tell that Broly is hiding a lot of power, and Paragus insists that they are at his disposal, but Freeza is already turning away from him; he laughs and says he is sure they will serve him well. He instructs Beriblu to reward the hunters, so she presents Cheelye and Lemo with a bounty in the form of what looks like metal popsicle sticks. They thank him profusely and leave.
  88.
  89. Freeza tells Paragus about the demise of Planet Vegeta; Paragus says he heard about it on the way to the ship, and he is sorely disappointed that his dream of revenge was stolen from him. Freeza has good news, though: Vegeta IV, the crown prince, is still alive. Paragus cannot believe his luck. Freeza is happy to help him get his revenge, and he instructs Beriblu to show Paragus and Broly to the showers and get them some new armor. When he is alone, he muses aloud that he won't even have to get his hands dirty this time.
  90.
  91. There is a brief scene of Broly in the shower before he and Paragus find Cheelye and Lemo in the mess hall. Broly has traded his raggedy armor from Beets for fancy new armor (sans jacket), and Paragus has traded his undies for the pink robes. Cheelye and Lemo invite both to join them at their table. Broly is only wearing the undersuit of the armor, with his pelt tied on over it, and Cheelye asks him why he didn't put on the armor jacket. Broly thought it would hinder his movements, but Cheelye stretches her armor bra to show that it's actually quite comfortable. She asks him why he doesn't take off his pelt, which might get stinky, but Broly gets angry when she touches it, drawing the attention of everyone else in the mess hall. Cheelye apologizes, touching it again softly, realizing that it must have some kind of nostalgic meaning for him. He begins to tell her the story of why it means so much to him, but Paragus stops him and tells him they are here to eat, not chat. Cheelye protests, but Paragus brushes her off. She tries to push it, but Lemo encourages her to drop it.
  92.
  93. Just then, a big blue-haired soldier comes up and tries to put the moves on Cheelye, suggesting she would have more fun with him than these guys. Paragus keeps his eye on him, and Broly's eyes narrow in suspicion and irritation. Cheelye tries to blow him off, but he is stubborn, so Lemo offers to pay for his meal, hoping to send him on his way. The soldier punches Lemo out of the way, and this crosses a line for Broly. His hair flares up a bit, but he visibly gets his anger under control, deliberately walking up to the soldier and ignoring his father's command to stand down.
  94.
  95. The soldier punches Broly in the chest several times, but Broly doesn't even flinch. He grabs the soldier by the neck and lifts him off the ground, while Paragus tries and fails to get his attention. Broly squeezes harder, clearly threatening the soldier's life, but then Paragus resorts to the collar, and Broly screams under the assault of electrocution. Cheelye and Lemo run to his side, but once they verify that he is okay, Cheelye steps up to confront Paragus. He explains to her patiently that this is necessary, but while he is talking, she stealthily pilfers the remote from his belt.
  96.
  97. Beriblu enters the mess hall to summon Paragus to see Freeza again; Paragus calls for Broly, but Beriblu says Freeza only wants to see Paragus. As soon as Paragus leaves, a soldier remarks that Paragus might be even worse than his own father, and Cheelye laughs. Pleased with herself, she shows Broly the remote she pilfered; Broly and Lemo are amazed that she stole it. She says, "Here's what I do with the likes of this," dropping it on the ground and crushing it with her foot.
  98.
  99. They take Broly to the living quarters, where he gobbles more snack bars. Cheelye tells him "sankyuu" for what he did earlier, with the 👌 gesture again, though she's behind him and he can't see her. Broly reaches for a thermos of water; the lid is still on it, and he can't figure out how to drink the contents—he tries upending it over his head, but nothing comes out—so Lemo twists open the cap for him. Broly takes a sip, and asks breathlessly, "What is this?" Cheelye tells him it's just water, and asks in disbelief if he's really never had water before. Broly gulps down the entire thermos as Lemo watches with wide eyes, then Broly catches his breath and says it was wonderful.
  100.
  101. Broly says that now he will tell them the story of his pelt. He says it's the ear of his first and only friend, Bah. Bah is one of the giant serpentine creatures that live in the craters of Vampa; Cheelye and Lemo never saw one, so Broly explains that they are bigger even than this ship. When he was a child, part of his training was learning to dodge the attacks of Bah, named after the sound he made when he attacked. Eventually, Bah came to see him as a friend, and no longer attacked him. Paragus was however unhappy with this development as it interfered with Broly's training, so he shot Bah in the head with a gun, severing his ear. Bah never trusted Broly again, so Broly resolved to start wearing Bah's ear so that they could always be together.
  102.
  103. Cheelye jumps down, telling Broly she didn't expect him to have so much to say. Lemo thinks Broly is a truly pure being. They ask him whether he even likes fighting, or if Paragus is just using him for revenge; Cheelye thinks Broly should ditch him, but Broly will not speak ill of his father. Cheelye and Lemo sigh in defeat, as Broly grips Bah's ear.
  104.
  105. Meanwhile, on the arctic continent on Earth, Freeza's goons have finally found the last Dragon Ball, though they're having difficulties.
  106.
  107. Back on Freeza's ship, Freeza tells Paragus that Vegeta is living on Earth along with another Saiyan; he thinks Paragus should show off Broly to them, and Paragus is happy enough to do so, but Freeza tells him that, while he is welcome to take out his revenge on Vegeta, Freeza wants to finish off Son Goku personally for his own revenge, which he has dreamed of for a very long time. Paragus is taken aback by Freeza's fervor, but he doesn't even know who Goku is, so he bows and agrees to Freeza's wishes. Just then, Kikono runs in and excitedly informs Freeza that the last Dragon Ball has been found. Freeza rejoices, and the ship heads for Earth at full speed.
  108. Part 3: Vegeta vs Broly
  109.
  110. Bulma and the crew have finally reached the arctic. Bulma spots Freeza's goons, and they make landing. Goku is cold, but he still jumps out of the ship excitedly. Bulma and the Saiyans are all bundled up in warm clothing; Bulma can't believe Whis doesn't need any, but he tells her it's a lot colder out in space. Freeza's goons are watching them from their own ship; they recognize Goku and Vegeta as Saiyans, and hop in their ship to hightail it out of there. Goku and Vegeta look up as they take off, and Vegeta calmly shoots them down. The boys hop over to the enemy ship; Vegeta picks it up with one hand while Goku jumps on top, slapping his hands on the glass and telling them to give up the Dragon Balls. The breath from his nose produces big clouds of vapor, like a fire-breathing dragon, and the goons are terrified. One of them says, "These guys will kill us if we don't hand over the Dragon Balls!" and the other responds, "Well, Freeza will kill us if we do!"
  111.
  112. Goku senses something approaching, and looks up; Vegeta, still holding the thieves' ship, looks up knowingly, too. Freeza has arrived; he floats out of the hatch of his ship, in a callback to the destruction of Planet Vegeta, and drops a fire bomb into the atmosphere to make a dramatic entrance. Vegeta senses that there is another powerful warrior aboard; Goku senses it too, but he doesn't know who it could be. Whoever it is, this can't be good. They watch warily as Freeza and crew disembark, and as Broly steps off the ship, a wave of power seems to emanate from him, throwing up a wind that causes Goku and Vegeta to shield themselves. Once everyone has exited the ship, Vegeta recognizes that Paragus and Broly are Saiyans, and Paragus shakes as he recognizes Vegeta based on his resemblance to his father.
  113.
  114. Goku asks Freeza what's going on, and Freeza says he's just here for the Dragon Balls, which he calls to him via telekinesis as his goons stumble after them, falling onto the snow. Cheelye and Lemo are watching from the ship; Cheelye wonders what those balls are; Lemo says they will have to ask someone. Bulma yells at Goku and Vegeta, telling them to go get the Dragon Balls back; Whis tells her it's too late for that now; this has become a warrior-race party, much to his delight.
  115.
  116. Goku again demands to know what Freeza is up to, so Freeza explains: these are his companions, Broly and his father. They are Saiyans, though Freeza is sure they have already figured this out. Paragus comes forward and introduces himself by name. Freeza goes on: when Vegeta was still a child, his father exiled Broly to an inhospitable planet where he and his father were stranded until Freeza found and rescued them. Goku adopts a serious expression, and asks Freeza…what does "inhospitable" mean? Freeza is momentarily taken aback that Goku is so stupid, but then he controls his expression with irritation, explaining that "inhospitable" means it was a hard place to live. Goku laughs nervously and says he gets it now; Vegeta, embarrassed, chides him for being an idiot.
  117.
  118. Paragus declares that he has come to avenge the sins of the father upon the son, but Vegeta doesn't care about that; Goku says it doesn't matter anyway; they're all Saiyans so they should just fight. Meanwhile, Broly's anger is noticeably bubbling up; he obviously needs to let it out. Paragus gets Freeza's attention, and Freeza decides it's time to begin. Paragus says "Broly, get him!"
  119.
  120. Broly charges, going straight for Vegeta, who blocks his attack with a smile. They trade blows with Vegeta completely at ease in his winter jacket for a few moments, but it doesn't take long before Vegeta feels pressured enough to rip off his coat. Paragus observes to Freeza that Vegeta must have been training hard all these years, and Freeza confirms that Vegeta is no stranger to battle. On the other hand, since Broly grew up on an uninhabited planet, this must be his first real battle with another person. Paragus corrects him; he has fought Broly many times, but Freeza thinks Paragus is too weak to count.
  121.
  122. Vegeta vs Broly continues to be intense even in base form, and Paragus cheers Broly from the sidelines. Before long, Vegeta decides it's time to transform. At first it seems that he will go straight to Super Saiyan Blue, as his hair turns a sort of green color, but he just transforms into a regular Super Saiyan. Broly is shocked and does not know what to make of this. Paragus asks, "What is that?" Freeza is surprised he has never seen a Super Saiyan before. Can't Broly do that too? Apparently not; Paragus can't believe he is looking at the legendary Super Saiyan.
  123.
  124. Vegeta's transformation just makes Broly angry. He charges at Vegeta, but finds himself once again at a major disadvantage in strength and speed, as Vegeta fights with the confidence of someone who is leagues away from his maximum battle power. But soon enough, Broly tanks a solid punch to the face, pushing back defiantly against Vegeta's fist. His eyes have turned yellow—what is happening? Vegeta soon finds out that Broly has gotten stronger yet again—strong enough to keep up with him as a Super Saiyan, putting him on the defensive again. Even Goku can't believe it, but Vegeta doesn't let it go on for long; he seeks the calm of divine ki as he retreats upward, transforming into a Super Saiyan God.
  125.
  126. Vegeta is in control again, and he doesn't waste time letting Broly know. Broly is fearful at first, desperately dodging Vegeta's attacks. He tries repeatedly to land a punch, but Vegeta dodges him effortlessly until he finally catches a punch with a fist, casually pushing it aside and punching Broly in the face, sending him flying through several mountains.
  127.
  128. Paragus falls to his knees, thinking Broly has reached the end of his power. How could Vegeta have gotten so strong? Freeza suggests they give up for now and retreats to his ship with the Dragon Balls. Paragus gets up and calls for Broly, trying to coax him to stand down, but Broly is buried in a distant mountain and isn't listening, instead seeming to undergo some sort of internal struggle for control. Paragus reaches for the remote in his belt pouch and, finally discovering that it is missing, he falls to his knees yet again and calls out desperately for Broly to retreat, but Broly is trying and failing to keep the beast within him contained.
  129.
  130. Vegeta aims a final blow to finish Broly off; Goku desperately shouts at Vegeta to stop, but Vegeta ignores him, blasting Broly into a frozen lake which melts around him as he plunges downward. In the depths, Broly finally awakens his Rage form, turning the lake into a giant maelstrom as he rises in a golden glow and screams his fury. Once again, the force of his ki sends a gale outward, causing the nearby Goku and Vegeta to block instinctively. Vegeta seems to realize this fight could go long; he asks Goku if he has any senzu, but Goku didn't bring any.
  131.
  132. Rage Broly fires a mouth blast directly at Goku, who barely dodges as the blast takes off the top of the mountain behind him before exploding in the sky, bathing everything in a green light. Vegeta seems to have barely dodged it too, but he gathers himself and attacks, landing a punch directly on Broly's face…but Broly takes it head-on with no sign of damage. Broly then punches Vegeta and sends him flying skyward; Goku is beginning to worry, and Vegeta is beginning to feel pressured.
  133.
  134. Freeza is in good spirits again; he asks Paragus what is happening, and Paragus theorizes that Broly has gained the ability to control the power of the Great Ape in human form, without any of the associated disadvantages of the bulky transformation. There is however a downside: nothing can be done to control Broly now.
  135.
  136. Now Vegeta is getting punched through mountains of his own. He lands gracefully enough, but he's feeling harried. He hasn't reached his maximum power yet, but Broly is about to power up again, and Goku doesn't want to wait. He takes off his coat and tells Broly it's his turn now.
  137. Part 4: Goku vs Broly
  138.
  139. Goku's interruption angers Broly, but Goku does the jig, warming up to a trippy dance beat, when suddenly a loud voice yells KAKAROT!! (Re-Westernized "Kakarot", not "Kakarotto".) Broly powers up, and the same voice screams BROLY!! They trade a few blows, and then the voice shouts KAMEHAMEHA BLASTER as Goku fires said move, but Broly isn't fazed; he punches Goku deep into a mountain and follows him down the hole, harrying him out through the other side. Broly attacks Goku with a SAIYAN BLASTER (pronounced sigh-an), and voices chant to cheer him on: GO BROLY, GO GO! GO BROLY, GO GO!
  140.
  141. Goku isn't really keeping up, and hasn't been since the fight started, so he decides to go Super Saiyan. He's still outmatched, but he manages to get one up on Broly by teleporting behind him and catching him by surprise. This advantage doesn't last long, though; Broly quickly reasserts the upper hand, knocking Goku into a mountain once again. Goku hasn't given up yet, but then Broly screams in anger, and the announcer shouts SAIYAN POWER! Broly attacks, and before he can land a hit, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan God.
  142.
  143. Finally, Goku seems to be holding his own, and Broly is getting angry again; he does a funny move with his hands to paralyze Broly long enough to try to talk some sense into him. He tells Broly that he and Vegeta are living peacefully on Earth. Broly rages and tries to punch Goku, but he can't. Goku concedes that they have had a lot of battles over the years; there is a stream of images covering all the important fights: Piccolo Daimaō, Raditz, Vegeta, the four original forms of Freeza, the three main forms of Cell plus his inflated self-destruct mode, and the four main forms of Boo, the last of which (Pure/Kid Boo) resolves into Goku's face. Broly rages again, but Goku tells him that he knows he's not a bad guy, and it seems like Goku might be getting through to him. Goku adds that he shouldn't let bad people boss him around! On the sidelines, Kikono (who has joined Paragus and Freeza) seems to panic, thinking Broly might switch sides. Paragus looks worriedly to Freeza, but Freeza just laughs. And sure enough, Broly gets angry enough to finally break Goku's hold on him.
  144.
  145. Broly pulls back for a massive punch, and Goku is barely able to take it; with some effort, he grabs Broly by the wrist and slams him on the ground with enough force to cause an earthquake; Bulma's perch is threatened and Vegeta has to catch her; the plateau where Freeza's ship is parked begins to collapse, and Kikono calls out to Freeza and asks for permission to take the ship to safety. Freeza concedes and sends the Dragon Balls up; while Broly rages, Kikono, Lemo, and Cheelye hold on to Dragon Balls as the ship takes off. Freeza tells Paragus that now they can watch Broly's show without any worries.
  146.
  147. Broly goes even deeper to draw out more power; he seems to grow larger by the minute, and while Goku is landing attacks, he isn't really getting anywhere. Watching from above, Cheelye is overwhelmed by Broly's power. Lemo thinks Broly isn't himself, though, and Cheelye has to agree. Goku continues to struggle, and Cheelye laments that this is only happening because the gentle-hearted Broly is a slave to his father's obsessive drive. Broly continues to rage, and Paragus begins to fear that Broly will kill him, that it's all over. Meanwhile Broly has grown so large that he dwarfs Goku, and he is fully in control of the fight, kicking Goku around almost effortlessly, grabbing him by the ankle and slamming him against the ground, grabbing him by the face and dragging him through an ice wall. Goku is grounded and can't move while Broly screams in unbridled rage.
  148.
  149. It looks like Goku is done for, and Freeza thinks it looks like he won't get a chance to fight. But suddenly, we see Piccolo meditating far away. He opens his eyes and calls out to Goku telepathically. He can tell that Goku is up against someone formidable, quite aside from Freeza, and he knows that he would only be a hindrance if he tried to help. Goku, struggling to get it together, says that's okay; Piccolo is his escape plan. Broly is losing patience, and Goku manages to stand up. If things go south, he can use Piccolo to teleport away from the battlefield, and Piccolo realizes that, for Goku of all people to have an escape plan, things must be really bad. Goku laughs, and agrees. He rips off his orange shirt and begins to transform into Super Saiyan Blue. It's a rather dramatic transformation, and the first appearance of SSB in the film.
  150.
  151. They go at it, starting the corrected CG portion of the fight (compared to what we saw in early promotional material). The fight is a little bit closer to even now, but Goku is still struggling. Broly punches him through the ground, where it seems a fiery magma pit is just beneath the snow. Broly follows Goku into the magma pit and continues to harry him there, strangling him among other things, but Goku punches Broly back above the surface again and follows him up. Then Broly charges up a giant cyclonic attack and launches it at Goku; it disturbs their surroundings so much that Freeza has to put up a shield around himself, while Paragus goes flying. The attack transforms the landscape around them, releasing the magma below the surface, but Goku is unharmed.
  152.
  153. Paragus is full of despair, thinking that maybe King Vegeta was right after all. Broly is the harried one now; Goku clearly has the edge. Freeza asks Paragus if this is the end, and Paragus says yes. Freeza remembers how his killing Krillin was the trigger that caused Goku to transform into a Super Saiyan for the first time; pleased with himself, he executes Paragus in almost the exact same manner that Paragus executed Beets all those years ago, with a shot through the heart. He then laughs, and calls out to Broly with feigned panic and distress. He finally gets Broly's attention, and it has exactly the result Freeza wanted.
  154.
  155. Broly absolutely explodes in grief and anger as he transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time. Freeza celebrates as Broly begins to shoot off a flurry of random blasts, destroying what is left of the landscape all around him. Goku tries to fight back, but he can't even make a dent; some time during this assault, he loses his blue shirt. Broly's aura expands and threatens to overcome Goku, but he flies up to escape it. Freeza is pleased, but Vegeta recognizes that Goku won't be able to beat Broly alone. He flies up to join Goku, who reluctantly accepts his help. Vegeta goes Super Saiyan Blue, and they attack Broly together, but it's still not enough; Broly comes right back at them and soon has them on the run. Goku and Vegeta fly past Freeza, but Broly bears down on him, and Freeza panics. Broly seems to forget all about Goku and Vegeta and starts fighting Freeza. Goku sees this as a perfect opportunity; he grabs Vegeta by the hand and flies away a distance before teleporting to Piccolo, according to his plan.
  156.
  157. They make a crash landing on Piccolo's spire-top and revert to base form. Goku continues to hold Vegeta's hand for a few moments until Vegeta gets angry and pulls away, telling Goku to let go of him and shaking his arm as if to ward off the cooties. Goku tells Piccolo they will catch him up later; right now, they desperately need some senzu. Unfortunately, Piccolo doesn't have any, so Goku asks Vegeta if he knows about Fusion. Vegeta says yes, he knows about it from Trunks; it's that technique where you merge by dancing like a fool. Goku confirms, and demonstrates the poses.
  158.
  159. Vegeta angrily refuses to do any such thing. Goku tells him it's only for 30 minutes, and besides, they've done it before with the Potara. Since they don't have Potara handy, they have no choice but to use the Fusion technique. Vegeta thinks he might be able to survive fusing with Goku again, but those silly poses (which he mockingly demonstrates, seeming to defeat the purpose) are another story! Goku corrects his pose technique and says they don't have a choice; the Earth will be destroyed if they don't stop Broly, but Vegeta says, that's just the breaks. So Goku uses his trump card: would Vegeta really be okay with Bulma dying? Vegeta tells Goku he shouldn't say such embarrassing things, but nevertheless, he finally agrees to learn Fusion.
  160.
  161. Meanwhile on the battlefield, Broly is pounding Freeza, so Freeza decides it's time to break out Golden Freeza. He attacks with new confidence. Goku and Piccolo demonstrate the Fusion dance for Vegeta, who watches, mortified and blushing. Goku insists there's no time, they have to try it, and Vegeta walks forward as if being dragged against his will, thinking he might actually prefer to die after all. They give it a go, but their fingertips don't touch exactly; Piccolo knows it's wrong before the chubby fusion even appears. When he does appear, he claims to be the strongest! But Piccolo chews him out, explaining where they went wrong. They have to wait 30 minutes to defuse (no mention of a cool-down period).
  162.
  163. Golden Freeza is getting his ass kicked by the monster he helped to create in the meantime, but Goku and Vegeta try the dance again. This time, they fail with an emaciated form; Piccolo explains that their pose was not exactly symmetrical (there is a replay complete with geometrical illustrations; Goku's angle was 45˚, while Vegeta's angle was 50˚). Freeza continues to hold down the fort while they wait another 30 minutes. This time, they get it right, and Piccolo hmphs in satisfaction as the fusion gives off waves of power. His vest trim is golden, his sash is an aqua color, and he appears in base form. Piccolo tells him not to waste any time, but he falters on the name. The fused being ruminates, recalling that they were called "Vegetto" when they used the Potara. He struggles to come up with something, and Piccolo angrily tries to hurry him along. Finally he comes up with a name: Gogeta! Satisfied with himself, he teleports to the battlefield.
  164. Part 5: Fusion Reborn
  165.
  166. Freeza is on the ropes, but he's still in awe of Broly's power despite himself. Suddenly Gogeta appears; Freeza demands to know who he is, and Gogeta explains that he is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, and that he's much stronger than the two of them added together. Gogeta wastes no time teleporting to where Broly is desperately trying to fight Whis while Bulma watches from behind a glowing rock. Whis just dodges Broly effortlessly until Gogeta appears in front of him. Whis recognizes what he is instantly, but he is surprised to learn that Goku and Vegeta had this ability. Bulma is not confused; she figures out they must have used the Fusion dance.
  167.
  168. Broly appears in front of them. Gogeta tells Broly to come fight him, and immediately attacks. As Broly flies away, the announcer voice shouts CHOU BROLY ("Super Broly"). Gogeta chases after Broly in a flurry of Shida goodness, and the voice shouts GOGETA. The GO! BROLY! GO! BROLY! music is back. GOGETA! GOGETA! GOGETA! Gogeta is doing fine, but he decides he needs to transform, so he goes up to Super Saiyan. SUPER POWER! Broly doesn't stand a chance; Gogeta absolutely dominates him until he's screaming in fury.
  169.
  170. Gogeta fires a Kamehameha, and Broly matches it with his own attack; suddenly the fabric of reality cracks and shatters like glass, or ice. They fight in an odd landscape of colors. Broly powers up one more time into his Full Power form, and Gogeta skips straight to SSB, never giving Broly a chance to catch up. They crash through several dimensions, eventually clashing so hard that they end up back in the real world. Broly is raging, but Gogeta just laughs smugly. This is his fight. On Freeza's ship, Cheelye and Lemo can see how this will end. They know Broly doesn't want to be like this; his father forged this battle-monster out of a pure and gentle Saiyan, and they have to put an end to it or Broly will die. They desperately run through the ship with Lemo carrying all seven Dragon Balls.
  171.
  172. Broly can't accept defeat; he tries destroying everything around him with his fire-breath, but Gogeta just charges in and blasts Broly repeatedly, finishing it all off with his big gay energy ball. Gogeta seems to think that might be enough to end it, but just then, Shenlong appears in the sky. Shenlong says he will grant one wish. Cheelye puts a gun to Kikono's back and demands that he tell her how to get her wish granted, and he tells her she just has to say it, so she says "My wish is…"
  173.
  174. Broly powers up even more and attacks, but Gogeta is still in full control, delivering a few of those megaton kicks he is known for in another universe. Broly attacks with a beam, but Gogeta dodges it with ease, landing a hard punch and effortlessly dodging Broly's explosion of smaller attacks. Broly is absolutely on the ropes, but Gogeta powers up even more, and Broly starts to show real fear. Gogeta comes after him relentlessly, pummeling him over and over again, further destroying the land around them, sending everything up in a gigantic mushroom cloud as Whis admires the spectacle from a distance. He knows Gogeta has got this.
  175.
  176. Gogeta starts charging a Kamehameha, and Broly stumbles backwards, terrified with no way out of this certain-death trap. Gogeta fires it, and Broly just stares as it comes for him, but just at that moment, Cheelye asks Shenlong to send Broly to the planet where they found him. Gogeta's Kamehameha shoots off harmlessly into space. Gogeta watches as Broly is whisked away by the power of Shenlong.
  177.
  178. Broly finds himself back home on Planet Vampa, terrified and disoriented, and having reverted to base form. Back on Earth, Shenlong declares that the wish has been granted and bids them farewell, disappearing as the Dragon Balls scatter. Gogeta laughs and shakes it off. Kikono watches helplessly as Cheelye jumps in a getaway vessel Lemo lifted from the mothership. Freeza tries to shoot them down, but Gogeta grabs his hand and says "nuh-uh". Freeza is disgusted, but what can he do? He drops his Golden form again and gives up, though he makes sure to tell Gogeta he'll be back before hightailing it. Gogeta laughs at that, too.
  179.
  180. Back at Bulma's vacation home, Bra is happily playing with her uncle Beerus, though he's ignoring her as she pulls on his ruff. Beerus is just relieved that everything turned out so well. Now he can go back to his nap.
  181.
  182. Out in space, Lemo is piloting the stolen ship. Cheelye tells him she's sorry she got him involved in this mess, but he doesn't mind; he hasn't had this much fun since he joined Freeza's army. Cheelye wants to go find Broly, and Lemo agrees; he thinks he'll be on the run wherever he goes, so being with Broly is probably the safest option for him. They set course for Planet Vampa, and Cheelye notes that they'll have to round up some food somewhere on the way.
  183. Part 5: Epilogue
  184.
  185. 3 days later
  186.
  187. The Freeza Force is back in action, conquering some unlucky planet inhabited by blue-skinned elf-eared creatures. Kikono tells Freeza that their outlaws have joined up with Broly, but Freeza doesn't want to do anything about that just yet. He thinks it will be to his advantage to wait for Cheelye and Lemo to do the hard work of teaching Broly to control himself; if Broly can do that, he will be a valuable asset indeed. If Goku and Vegeta are always going to be double-teaming him, then he needs a partner too if he wants to stand a chance.
  188.
  189. On Planet Vampa, Broly drags a giant spider claw to his cave, where Cheelye and Lemo are waiting for him. He breaks the claw open and offers it to them; Cheelye reaches out to dab up a bit on her finger; she tastes it and finds it unbearably bitter. She tells Lemo to try some, so he reluctantly does, and he thinks it's gross too. Cheelye chews him out for not bringing enough food.
  190.
  191. Suddenly, Goku teleports in outside their cave. Broly immediately senses him and assumes a defensive stance; Cheelye and Lemo wonder what is going on. They peer out of the distant cave entrance; they can't see anything through the sunlight, but Goku calls out to them. Lemo reaches for a gun, finding only a hammer, as Goku walks up, surprised to find anyone here besides Broly. He doesn't recognize Cheelye and Lemo at first, but Cheelye recognizes him as the Saiyan from Earth, and then Goku finds a brain cell and remembers that they were the ones who used Freeza's Dragon Balls.
  192.
  193. Lemo throws his hammer aside, realizing it's useless against this one. Goku greets Broly; Lemo tells him to back off, but Goku assures them he's not there to fight. He just heard that Broly's planet was a hard place to live, so he brought them some goodies. Cheelye still doesn't trust him, so Goku takes out a capsule case he got from Bulma and pops the top on a house, tossing the capsule into a likely spot. The capsule house appears, and Cheelye approaches cautiously, opening the door with Lemo behind her, while Goku explains that the house is stocked with food and other needful things. Cheelye and Lemo are amazed.
  194.
  195. Then Goku pulls out a senzu bag and shakes out two beans, holding them out to Cheelye. He tells her that they can heal injuries and restore stamina. She is still suspicious of his motives, but Goku assures her that he just wants to make sure Broly stays alive and healthy. He thought he was strong, but Broly was even stronger, probably even stronger than Beerus. Broly is just a Saiyan like him, but Beerus is a god! Goku ain't gonna let him die. Broly considers all this as Goku takes his leave. Lemo stops him to ask how he got across the universe without a spaceship, so Goku explains he just teleported to Broly's ki. Cheelye doesn't understand how that works, but Goku just promises them he will be back.
  196.
  197. Cheelye is still confused; even though they're not with Freeza any more, they are still his enemies, aren't they? Goku says it doesn't matter to him; he just wants to come by to fight Broly once in a while. Cheelye says this is nuts, but she thanks him for the stuff complete with 👌. Lemo tells Goku they might not be here for long, but Goku says that's okay; he can always find Broly as long as they don't wander too far. As Goku leaves, Cheelye remembers to ask him for his name. "Son Goku…or Kakarot!"

  225. Notes
  226.
  227. The movie claims to start 41 years in the past. Then, 5 years later, Planet Vegeta is destroyed. The counter on the screen when Goku arrives on Earth starts in Age 737, which is the traditional date given to the destruction of Planet Vegeta in guidebooks. (Aside from a single glimpse of a date on the controls of Trunks's time machine, this is the first time the Age system has been used in-series.) Then it scrolls up at least to Age 774 and presumably keeps on scrolling until it gets to the actual present, which should be Age 780 or maybe even 781. What gives? If the present is supposed to be 41 years after the beginning of the movie, that would be Age 773.
  228. When Kikono asks Freeza if he wants to wish for immortality, he uses the word 不死身/fujimi. In the past, this word has been used to mean both "immortal" and "invincible" (e.g. Nappa and Boo for the latter), which is part of why the Funimation dub went with "invincible" for Zamasu in Super (along with the ningen/mortal confusion). But when Kikono follows up with the suggestion that Freeza wish for invincibility, he phrases it as "impervious to damage" (ダメージ/damēji).
  229. When Goku first confronts Freeza's goons, the visuals seem to be a callback to the hands on the glass of his space pod when he was sent away by his parents—his own, and his father's.
  230. There should be an hour-long cooldown period after the failed fusions. That would have put Freeza alone on the battlefield for three solid hours, but Piccolo only says they have to wait 30 minutes for the fusion to wear off each time (meaning Freeza was alone against Broly for about an hour).
  231. It's odd that the hype man's CHOU BROLY (right after Broly vs Gogeta starts) is in Japanese. In this context (Super Saiyan), the 超/chō kanji (if used) usually has スーパー/sūpā furigana to indicate it should be spoken in English, or they just write it out in English like they do in the Dragon Ball Super logo. It's especially odd seeing as how everything else from the hype-man was Westernized, like KAKAROT and SAIYAN.
  232. Sometimes, these voices appear to be part of an insert song with guitar, but sometimes they are chanting and singing over a recognizably Sumitomo track.
  233. Presumably Shenlong only offers one wish because it hasn't been a year since the Dragon Balls were used in Super ep.68. At that time, he owed them two wishes (having only granted one the previous time he appeared), and he only granted one of those two wishes before his body faded because they were taking too long to decide on the second wish. This is a bit odd because the movie doesn't strictly follow the continuity of the Super anime, but it's the only available explanation.
  234. Some of the dialogue lines in the trailer go with different scenes in the actual movie. Some of them don't exist in the movie. Others were re-recorded; for example, Paragus says "Broly, yare!" ("Broly, get him!") instead of "Yare, Broly" when he orders Broly to attack.
  235. The opening violin melody of Trailer 2 is Broly's theme. There are several variations on this theme throughout the movie, and no variation is ever used twice; each variation is written to fit the mood of the scene. The theme is first used in the scene where King Vegeta reads Broly's battle power in the nursing capsule, after the device explodes. There's a short variation for the opening credits; a soft one with acoustic guitar, glockenspiel, and flute for the scene where Broly tells the story of Bah; an epic choral one for his SS transformation; etc.
  236. The only other oft-recurring theme is Freeza's theme. It's the track that's playing when the movie begins; Ajay commented on it in his summary.
