  1. Feeling the Flow Edition

  3. Hey guys, how’s it goin?
  4.
  5. I have had it up to “here” with Nintendo Puzzle Collection. (You know where “here” is, even if you can’t see me at this moment.) I am no longer having fun with V-Hard. I am in need of a change. I need to start…

  7. *puts on shades* feeling the flow.

  11. I have decided to pick up a new speed game that I have previously referenced in these Pastebins, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal: World Duel Carnival for the 3DS. I think it’s unique within the Yu-Gi-Oh! series in that you don’t actually collect cards. All you do in the Story Mode is duel a few times against some of the characters from the series and that’s it. It really is just a “few” duels—each character’s story only has 11 duels. Even on the highest difficulty, I would expect each story to take 30-45 minutes. It’s one of the shorter Yu-Gi-Oh! runs I could ever do, making it convenient to do during the week.

  13. For now, I’ll just figure out the best way to go through Yuma’s story quickly (on the highest difficulty) before doing a few runs. I might wander into other characters’ stories. There will be different decks to face in each story that offer different challenges. They might be interesting.

  15. Why would I do this now? Well, it turns out that the general Yu-Gi-Oh! speedrunning community is going to hold a 24-hour all Yu-Gi-Oh! marathon starting April 18 at https://www.twitch.tv/YugiohSpeedrunMarathon. I would be willing to dust off The Falsebound Kingdom for this marathon if none of the other runners stepped forward. My goal, however, was to provide something unique to the marathon and I would be breaking new ground with World Duel Carnival. If there’s a speedrun that I am the most equipped to show off, I would like to be the one to show it off.
  16.
  17. One minor problem: submissions for the marathon close at the end of the month. I have one month to learn World Duel Carnival mostly from scratch and figure out if I would be equipped to run it in front of a live audience. Challenge accepted.
  18.
  19. That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, thanks for reading!
