  1. Having in a very blue peter fashion prepared a machine with a installed copy of windows 98 that the college did not provide despite this task being required, Once again I pressed the open tray button of me CD drive and inserted this copy of windows xp I have that funnily the college did not supply either and pressed the close drive button, After spinning up for a few seconds the XP set up wizard window appeared before my eyes and I clicked the install windows button which was followed soon after followed by the choice of what type of installation I wished to perform but as upgrade was selected by default I had no need to change this option I simply pressed next and was soon greeted by the licence agreement, The input CD key screen also reappeared so I did as asked and put in the same windows key I used before for as I knew activation would not be an issue with this task.
  2. The set up once again began copying over windows xp setup files and I took a passive roll tapping on my desk as the pc restarted once more and launched into the very familure windows xp setup GUI where it began copying over even more files required to set up windows xp for a short while before restarting one last time
  3. Next I was prompted to enter my name and organization I entered the “Student” for both of these fields and pressed next to continue onwards and it was at this point I was prompted for a CD key which I had to the side of my just waiting to be entered and so I did and then pressed next,
  4. Then I was prompted to give the computer a name which I affectionately called Little K and I entered the admistrative password of Password because security is not an issue for this.
  5. I was then prompted for time and date information which I set to Greenwich mean time and corrected the clock to be consistent with the time I know it to be. The setup program then asked me if I would like to use typical network settings or custom I chose typical and pressed next Then I was asked if to give a name for the workgroup which Little K would be a member of but I knew he would be alone in his short life so I left him with the default workgroup name of workgroup and pressed next
  6. The pc then restarted once more and after a brief time loading I was presented with the windows xp welcome screen to which I pressed next on and chose to enable the automatic updates so my machine would always be up to date and secure and pressed next, I decided it would be best to activate windows xp at a later date and pressed next and finally I created a single user account called Student because I am uncreative like that and pressed finish and with that last box I was well and truly finished
