  1. General Rules for "Ask Me Anything" Sessions
  2. --------------------------------------------
  3.
  4. --Scheduling--
  5. * To schedule an AMA block, get in touch with Ace or a Site Editor (someone capable of editing the channel's description).
  6. * When an AMA holder schedules the hours for their event, they are saying "I'm going to be here, and paying most/all of my attention to answering questions in #GetToKnow." Half the point of the event is that you're guaranteeing you'll be fully available for answering questions. So please make sure you schedule your block when nothing else particularly important is going on.
  7. * You may absolutely schedule another AMA block after you've already done one, as long as:
  8. -> You don't already have one scheduled in the future (that is, the one you did recently is done; only one AMA per person on the schedule at a time, please).
  9. -> You still think it'd be fun/worth everyone's time to do another one for you. (This will give people new to the experience of an AMA the opportunity to ask you questions, as well.)
  10.
  11. --Rules--
  12. Unless the person holding the AMA makes their own PasteBin or other linkable rules (which you'll be expected to follow), then the general rule of thumb is that ANYTHING is permissible to ask, including personal questions of any nature; however, anyone holding an AMA reserves the right to turn down any overly intrusive question that they don't feel comfortable answering.
  13.
  14. However, there are basic ground rules:
  15.
  16. Do NOT ask for any IRL-type contact information, such as:
  17. * their exact street address
  18. * their phone number
  19. UNLESS their own rules state you may do otherwise.
  20.
  21. Do not EVER ask someone for privacy information, such as:
  22. * bank PIN
  23. * passwords
  24.
  25. Otherwise, anything is considered permissible to ask unless their own rules provide further restrictions.
  26.
  27. --Notes For AMA Holders--
  28. When you write up your AMA rules, you might want to specify if you ARE okay with:
  29. * Posting pictures. (I know some people aren't comfortable with posting pictures of themselves in any capacity)
  30. * Answering questions of a lewd/sexually-charged nature.
  31. * Answering religious or political questions.
  32.
  33. --Notes For Attendees--
  34. * Remember that some people do get very curious about some rather personal details; that's part of what an AMA is about.
  35. * Do remember to read the holder's rules, if they have any. Anything they say you can ask about, and anything that they make no mention of not being okay, is fine to ask.
  36.
  37. --Notes For Everyone--
  38. * If there is anyone present who may be funky with you answering a particularly personal question in the main chat that they didn't ask, you can always PM the answer to the person who asked the question.
