  1. Safety Schmidt stood over the lava flow gushing from the newly opened wound in the glacier. The molten earth came out as though it had erupted, blasting straight upwards as the pressure propelled it. He stood out on the edge as the lava erupted behind him, and scanned the frozen horizon. The ice glittered in the sunlight, taking on a red tinge as it reflected the substance behind him. However, he spied something in the distance, coming at him at an incredibly high speed. The optics in his eyes zoomed in, confirming it to be exactly who he had anticipated; the only person who would willingly run towards a lava spout. The knife like digits he referred to as 'fingers' tightened into a fist.

  3. ---
  4.
  5. Mike slid to a stop, very nearly falling over on the slick surface. At the top of the glacier in front of him was a constant upwards flow of magma, never seeming to stop. He cursed himself, balling his fists in anger. He began to scan his surroundings intently, glancing at everything above and below him.
  6.
  7. "I got here too late, but...Schmidt still has to be around here somewhe--"
  8.
  9. Mike's open monologue was cut short as the ground beneath him began to shudder. He felt the ice beneath his feet lift up under him, and looking down, saw the cause. Safety Schmidt's head was burrowing upwards.
  10.
  11. "...Huh?"
  12.
  13. The robotic double burst upwards as Mike jumped off, sliding a few feet forward before stopping himself. Spinning to face his doppelganger, he found himself in a standoff situation. The humanitronic even had his same stance. His brow furrowed, but he found himself smiling. As he puffed his chest out to speak, he observed Safety Schmidt doing the exact same thing, down to the second.
  14.
  15. "So now we can get down to the REAL fight! The last Mike standing will be the winner!"
  16.
  17. From across the small gap between the two, the sounds of various beeps and whirs could be heard. Schmidt copied every move Mike made as he spoke, down to the slight shift of the right foot. Mike continued, as though he had understood him perfectly.
  18.
  19. "What? This universe isn't big enough for the both of us and one of us has to go?"
  20.
  21. Schmidt gave a curt nod, a soft beep echoing across the gap.
  22.
  23. Without missing a beat, Mike took the pose of a runner at the start of the race, still grinning.
  24.
  25. "Well, I agree!"
  26.
  27. The doubles launched themselves at each other at breakneck speeds, colliding at the halfway mark. Every attack was met with one of equal speed and force, movements copied and blows blocked. Each jump, every strike, everything was met in perfect sync before finally the two grappled with one another, attempting to push the other back. Mike sent his forehead colliding with the robot's, not even flinching when the two connected, even pushing back. As they both attempted to win the most important sumo match in history, Mike began to speak through grit teeth, eyes locked against Safety's.
  28.
  29. "You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not going to help you since I know everything YOU'RE going to do! Strange, isn't it?!"
  30.
  31. With a grunt, the two broke away from the other, jumping back before resuming their struggle.
  32.
  33. ---
  34.
  35. Bonbon sat behind her desk, noisily tapping away at what would be the best fanfiction she had ever put together. The grin on her face was palpable.
