Forest gnomes are generally colorful in their skin, eyes, or hair. They are generally more friendly, tricky, playful, mystical, and cheerful in life. Rock gnomes are generally more "normal" in their colors and tones, but colorful hair isn't uncommon. Rock gnomes are generally more studious, intrigued, inventive, curious, and scholarly.
