- Q: Why do you use Tepig/Pignite/Emboar?
- A: The combination of Tepig and its evolutions' high base Attack, RNG manipulated stats, and powerful moves such as Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Brick Break, and Return make it a much bigger threat than Snivy. Oshawott is also pretty decent but doesn't learn Work Up, doesn't get dual STAB (as it's only a single type), and along with a couple other hindrances, comes out a bit slower than Tepig.
- Q: Why does the last question mention Tepig if you're using Oshawott?
- A: I routed out starting with Oshawott to see how exactly it compares to Tepig and it's actually surprisingly close. There are a lot of places in the route that Oshawott actually handles better than Tepig; but where it has it worse, it REALLY struggles (namely Burgh's gym). If anything, the biggest downside to Oshawott at the moment is just sheer lack of consistency compared to Tepig. Oshawott heavily uses Razor Shell (a move that can miss and has low PP) and suffers a lot of not super favorable damage ranges throughout the game.
- Q: Why can't you use just your starter for Ghetsis and N?
- A: Simply put, it's much faster to say yes and catch Reshiram, because you physcically have to catch it (the fight retarts if you run/defeat it) and saying no wastes an additional 4 frames. On top of that, setting up on the dragons would be a huge pain.
- Q: Why are you playing as the girl trainer?
- A: There is really no difference between the boy and the girl in gen 5 and the girl is cuter.
- Q: Why are you only manipulating wild Pokémon encounters on the first route?
- A: As soon as you get to the second route of the game where you can get encounters, you get an Xtransceiver call from your mom which accelerates your seed dramatically, so there is little to no way to reliably manipulate past that point.
- Q: Why play on Black instead of White?
- A: Reshiram has better Sp. Attack and Defenses while Zekrom has weaker Sp.Def which most likely knocks out Zekrom in two hits as opposed to knocking out Reshiram in 4-5 hits with healing.
- Q: What stats are you looking/manipulating for?
- A: Because this run is mainly based on RNG Manipulation, the best set in most cases would be a 31 IV on all stats with a Naughty nature. In addition, with the Oshawott route, the other Pokémon we get (Pansear and Woobat) need good enough Defense/HP to survive against Burgh (which is extremely likely).
