  1. Once upon a time, The Father created our world, and it was comprised of just one continent.
  2. The Father, recognizing mankind's capacity for innovation, granted us the gift of His language, and subsequently, the gift of Magic.
  3. On this one continent, with one united language, one kingdom made great strides in the fields of technology and magic.
  4. Any who lay outside of this kingdom were invited to join them in this kingdom. Of course, there were some who resisted.
  5. These people, jealous of the kingdom's power, also banded together, invading any nearby towns and taking their possessions.
  6. In response, the king turned the magic and technology to form a military, stronger than any other.
  7. After some time, the king passed away, and he had been replaced by another.
  8. This new king was a tyrant, and he got bored with his power.
  9. While mulling around for what to do with such vast resources, a rumor had caught his ears.
  10. "There are other worlds out there, worlds that with our magic, and our technology, we should be able to take them for our own."
  11. Intrigued by the prospect, the tyrant mobilized his forces into a space coalition.
  12. Upon hearing this, The Father sent a warning to the tyrant.
  13. “You are not ready for what lies beyond this world,” he said, but the tyrant would not listen.
  14. A long time has come and gone, but eventually, they were able to make this ark, but before they could launch it, The Father cast down a pillar of steel.
  15. All in the ark were killed on impact, and the continent split into 8 parts.
  16. Those who remained lost the knowledge of His language, and thus, each continent developed their own languages as they began to drift apart. However, none of these languages hold the same power as His words.
  17. It is said that few continue to speak His language today, and it is with these few that magic persists.
  18. As a means to mock the humans for their arrogance, The Father granted animals gifts of their own to impose more of a threat to the people.
  19. Among these gifts was the Gift of Tongues, allowing some animals to understand and be understood by all when they speak. After several generations, animals blessed with the Gift of Tongues merged with the human societies, standing on two legs among other things. In these societies, the animals came to be known as Beastlings.
  20. Uneasy relationships have formed, and the divided continents developed once more on their own.
  21. This is the world of Degrees.
