♔ ABOUT ♔

— BACKGROUND : born into a royal family, it would be easy to assume that taehwan lived his life spoilt with the world at his fingertips. unfortunately, assuming makes an ass out of you and me, and in his case, it definitely does. his mother was big on appreciating anything and everything in life, and always stressed that the silver spoon he was born with in his mouth wasn't everything. when he turned seven, what his father deemed as the appropriate age, taehwan was sent off to live with his mother's sister, the goal for him to be raised as a humble and kind child. his father had seen too many arrogant princes in his lifetime, and didn't want his son to turn out like that. so, taehwan spent ten years of his life on a farm with his aunt and uncle, and although he didn't live with his parents, they tried to visit every weekend. he was young when his powers first appeared, only ten, and was so surprised that he almost fainted. he hadn't meant for anything to happen -- all he wanted was to help out a little bit with the neighboring farm, who were struggling to grow their corn because of the mineral dead soil on their land. one thing led to another, and within seconds, the field was lush and the corn was already ready to be picked. on his seventeenth birthday, he was taken back to the palace to live with his mother and father and to be properly educated so that he could rule the kingdom one day. the court and the people of the land were shocked to find out that, not only did their king have a successor that hadn't been heard from for years, but that he was such a kind person. from the moment he was thrust into the spotlight, taehwan was loved by all. when he discovered that he had servants, he was so flustered and from that moment on insisted that they let him do things himself, and that they treat him as a normal person, a friend, rather than royalty. (to this day, he still gets annoyed when they call him "your majesty" or anything of the sort.)

— PERSONALITY : at first glance, yeon taehwan seems to be the embodiment of perfection. with a face that seems as if it were sculpted by god, and a wonderful personality to go along with it, its no secret that he's adored by more than those within his kingdom. rarely seen without a smile, he's open to anyone and everyone, regardless of their background, believing that a person's actions in the now define them rather than something they had done before when they potentially were different. very gentle and not at all into any sort of fighting or sport, taehwan comes off as more mature than most boys his age -- which he really is. his personality is greatly comprised of a nurturing and rather motherly nature, the urge to care for anything and everything, which goes along with his control over nature extremely well. before knowing most people very well, he can come off as polite if not a bit reserved, something that had been ingrained into him as part of his training to be a prince. his tender and warmhearted nature, though, isn't always greeted by all as a good thing, and some have even stated how they believe he is naive and gullible, fooled by anything because of his trusting disposition and want to only see the good in people. despite being quite book smart (borderline genius, in fact,) he's believed to be easily manipulated and influenced by the smallest things. what people don't realize, though, is that taehwan might be very willing to do things to help others, but he is under no circumstances stupid. he can almost always see through their plots to exploit him, and doesn't respond very well when his kingdom and its people are put at stake. the power of nature might be a very calm one, but it can be just as deadly as any other, reflecting the owner of it in every aspect possible. taehwan can flip a switch at any moment, and become something reminiscent of the devil himself. behind his pretty face and desire to make the world a better place, he's actually rather witty and full of more sarcastic quips than his vaults are full of money. he has a sort of vindictive grin that appears when he's about to, well, roast someone, and is more savage than you could ever expect. he loves to tease those close to him, poking fun at them and cracking jokes like there's no tomorrow. it's one of the many ways he shows his love,,, and boy, are there lots of those.

— WHY SHOULD YOUR CHARACTER AND THEIR LOVE INTEREST BE TOGETHER? : DAICHI and taehwan balance each other out, plain and simple. together, they're playful and sometimes it can be painful to watch and know how oblivious of each other's feelings they are. taehwan's the physical embodiment of everything kind, yet can be taken advantage of very easily because of how he only sees the good in people. on the other hand, DAICHI can be very serious and is cautious and analytical, always on guard and ready for someone to betray him or those close to him. they're like each other's support systems -- taehwan helps DAICHI see the good in people, more than he normally wold, and DAICHI helps keep taehwan grounded when he gets too far up in the clouds. basically, they're like the mom and dad couple.

— RELATIONSHIP : at the beginning, its awkward for DAICHI because he knows he likes taehwan but doesn't want to say anything, and taehwan knows that they're soulmates but doesn't want to force him into a relationship and isn't sure whether or not he likes him back. at the end, though, they get over themselves and realize that they're in love and fuck (;

— HOW DO THEY ACT AROUND YOU? :
B E G | at the beginning, he's really really formal around taehwan and uses so many honorifics you can barely count. he's kind of nervous to be assigned to such an important mission, and as a result kind of ends up not treating taehwan as an actual person and rather as, well, an assignment. he isn't very affected when taehwan starts to get annoyed with his act, and how he's being treated as an object. DAICHI's mindset would be that, as long as the operation is carried out successfully, it doesn't really matter what he thinks of him -- his safety is the main, and truly only, priority.
M I D | after a rude awakening that causes him to finally pull his head out of his ass, though, he actually realizes that its easier for him to be successful when acknowledging him as a living, breathing human who is actually affected by things he says and does. they start to grow closer together and DAICHI drops his "intimidating" act to show his true,,, dad,,,, nature, but the moment taehwan asks him to drop the "your highness" and honorific shit, he chokes up -- until he realizes there's no need for him to act so stiff, and that he should be able to be himself around... the guy he likes.
E N D | at this point, DAICHI feels free to make fun and joke around with taehwan all he likes, even when his rebuttal of teases are almost better than his. somewhere deep down, though, he's full of uneasiness for not being able to admit his feelings for taehwan. he doesn't feel worthy of a prince when he's just a bodyguard, and so he doesn't say anything or act upon how he feels, believing its better for the both of them if he doesn't (it's really not.) when he accidentally ends up confessing, he's shocked to find that, not only does taehwan return his affections, but he knew all along that they would fall in love because they're soulmates in the most literal sense possible.

— HOW DO YOU ACT AROUND THEM? :
B E G | from the very moment he finds out that he's going to get a bodyguard, taehwan is uncomfortable. he doesn't feel like he needs someone to protect him and watch over him at all times, because frankly, why is he that important? he's the type of person who thinks that a ruler is as equal as his subjects, and doesn't see why its required for him to get someone to protect him and not get a bodyguard for everyone who resides in his kingdom. regardless, he welcomes DAICHI with a warm heart and does as much as he can to think of him as an acquaintance or friend rather than a, well, employee. he's annoyed by the formalities DAICHI speaks with, and is even more annoyed that he doesn't treat him any different than an invaluable vase that is placed under lockdown in a bank.
M I D | at this point he's fed up and ready to blow his fuse and approaches DAICHI, telling him that there's no way he'll be able to accomplish anything without even trying to get to know the person he's protecting -- taehwan tells him, rather heatedly, that "in order to teach, you need to know the material, in order to write a cookbook, you need to know how to cook, in order to operate, you need to know complex human anatomy, and in order to protect me, you need to know everything about me." he's more than satisfied when he realizes that his words ring true to DAICHI, and that the man is finally treating him like someone, trying (and definitely succeeding) to getting closer and closer to him in the process.
E N D | by now, taehwan is 99.99% certain that DAICHI is his soulmate. everything, from the teasing glances to the playful jabs, and even the small smiles that he gets from him have made taehwan fall deeper and deeper into the hole that is DAICHI. he wants to confess that he knows that he loves him too, but the small nagging doubt in his head tells him that, if he confronts him and DAICHI agrees, it might just be because taehwan is his superior. so, he waits for DAICHI to tell him on his own whim, so he can know for sure that his feelings are true and its not just because they're supposed soulmates. taehwan is more than ecstatic when DAICHI, being the mess he is, accidentally confesses without even meaning to.

— INTERACTIONS :
B E G | at first, its a very stiff, and to be honest, awkward relationship between them. there's a sort of tension present because DAICHI doesn't regard taehwan as an actual person yet, and taehwan is very annoyed by the fact. DAICHI doesn't talk much unless its to inform him of certain things, and even though taehwan makes a giant effort to try and get him to open up, its all to no avail.
M I D | now, DAICHI is completely astounded that such a sweet and seemingly naive man could say something so deep, and realizes that he's correct in more ways than one. DAICHI slowly starts to open up -- not only because of the truth in taehwan's words, but because he's genuinely interested to get to know such an intriguing person. soon, they're inseparable and VERY comfortable around each other.
E N D | by the time they've reached here, taehwan and DAICHI are extremely attached. both too afraid to speak their minds, they skirt around each other while, quite literally, being on top of each other. not in a sexual way, (much to their dismay) they're actually just very big on skinship. DAICHI has a strong aversion to it, and taehwan is always the one to initiate it, but when it comes down to it, they both love cuddling each other more than anything.
