so, basically, my idea for an rp was to base it around souls
the main conflict is that there are those that are born with souls, and those born without souls
a soul is something that generates life force, without a soul you have to take life force from other things with life force
however, nobody is actually 'born' with a soul. that is just what the nobility says.
the nobility being those 'born' with a soul
there is a place that everyone knows exists, but not where it is at. this is called the soul dump, which is where souls go after they leave the body.
anyways, what happens when someone dies is that, their souls remain there for 24 hours. if anyone claims that soul, they take that soul. if not, then it returns to the soul dump
well, the ancients WERE born with souls. however, as mankind began to become tainted, something(i haven't figured out what yet) happened, and we began being born with weaker souls and, eventually, no souls.
now, life force is something that every living creature has. they have a set amount at birth, and from then on, without a soul, they have to take the life force of other things by killing and eating it.
life force has an 'element'(which the pc gets to dictate what their element is, i have no set elements), and all life force you consume becomes that element. this is how magic works, based around manipulating that element
however, you can have multiple elements! using the power of a soul.
souls generate their own life force, and as such, have an element as well.
anyways, when you kill someone to take their soul, you get what is called a tainted soul. this is a dark soul.
all souls come with some kind of benefit(unless they are somehow perfectly neutral)
pure souls come with purely a benefit, while tainted souls come with a larger benefit, but also a downside, called a curse
you can have multiple souls; however, if you have multiple tainted souls(meaning you go around killing people to collect souls), then there is a rising chance that you will overflow with the tainted life force and just...explode(not literally)
you can change the purity of your soul, however, by acting pure/corrupted
the plot will be based around being part of a rebel group who is planning to attack the nobles
all of the pcs have tainted souls for one reason or another, ranging from just finding a tainted soul lying around to actually killing someone with a soul, purposefully or accidentally(pls don't be an ulrich)
