  1. I napped in the comfortable bed that smelled of ash for some reason. I really like the smell of ash to be honest.
  2. Two female figures sat at a table in the corner of the room.
  3. One's a rather petite Kitsune, who looks no older than 15, with shoulder length white hair that's mostly tied back in a short pony tail around the base of her head.
  4. She's wearing a rather girly grey colored dress with long sleeves, as well as an reddish brown vest and leather boots. Two fluffy fox ears adorned her head, with a pair of equally fluffy tails residing in a place you don't need a navigator to point out. She's sitting in a chair, kicking her feet around in a cute manner and looking up at the ceiling with her Lapis eyes.
  5. The other one is a rather tall Dragon girl, and looks like she's 30 in human years. She has long and unbound silver hair, and Amber colored reptilian eyes of unearthly beauty. Numerous parts of her body are covered in very smooth silver scales. Two Draconic horns jut out the side of her head and curve back in a regal manner, giving her an intimidating appearance. In place of human ears are two bony and scale covered fins. Two majestic wings closely cling to her shoulders, taking up as little space as possible.
  6. Her hands are covered in thicker scales, and have long and sharp claws. A long and powerful tail resides at the base of her spine, with a few black speckles around the tip. She isn't wearing much, with only a piece of cloth covering her private regions. A rather meek expression sits on her face as she carves something out of a piece of wood with her claws. Every now and then the tip of her tail rises up and lightly smacks the floor.
  7. It should be pretty obvious who these two are, if you aren't 7/10s asleep.
  8.
  9. "So Sarah, I've been meaning to ask you a few things." Ami looks away from the ceiling and turns her head towards Dragon while keeping her legs in motion. Sarah stops carving and turns her head to the Kitsune, "Such as?"
  10. "For one, what are you doing?"
  11. "I'm carving something out of wood."
  12. "Why?"
  13. Sarah looks at her partially carven item, "It's something I like to do..." Ami gets up and moves closer to examine the carving, "...Is that Glen?"
  14. "And what if it is?" The Dragon girl glares at the Fox girl in a way that would make even a hardened war hero quiver in fear.
  15. "I-I was just curious!"
  16. Sarah stops glaring and sighs, "...It's a good luck totem."
  17. "Huh?"
  18. "It's a good luck charm, do you understand that?"
  19. "Kind of. Why are you making one?"
  20. "I'm a little worried, is all." Sarah reaches her hand into a nearby bag, pulls something out, and tosses it to Ami, "Here, I made one for you as well."
  21. Ami inspects the little carving of her, and begins to admire the detail of it, "This is pretty good! So you made mine first?"
  22. "Of course, since you're the most likely one to die first I figured that you would need one most." Sarah goes back to carving once more. "So anyway, on to my next question, why are you traveling with Glen?" Ami continues asking questions, ignoring the last bit entirely. Sarah doesn't even look over at Ami and continues carving, "I owe him greatly."
  23. Ami begins to make her little carving dance and hop around on the table, "What did he do?"
  24. "He did me a very big favor, and saved me from dieing a pretty slow and painful death in a cave."
  25. "Oh."
  26. "Anything else?"
  27. "Yeah, do you love him?" Ami asks a serious question with eyes full of wonder and ignorant bliss.
  28. Sarah blankly stares at Ami for a short while before speaking up, "We're done here."
  29. "W-wait!" Ami tries to continue talking, but Sarah ignores her entirely.
  30.
  31. ---
  32. ---
  33.
  34. I woke up after a few hours. We immediately began gathering supplies for our trip through the desert, as well as another stop or two since Ami begged. This will be a very long trip through a very harsh desert, so we went all out with our stash of money repossessed from bandits. We made Ami gather the essentials, while Sarah and I walked throughout town. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about being spotted in a crowd here since I share numerous traits with the people on this part of the continent, as well as there being very little influence from a very angry Church in these parts.
  35. As we are waling, the two of us come across an accessory merchant peddling his wares with boundless energy. "Come and buy my special selection of items from the north!" He holds up a bluish green bracelet, "Here is a Mithral coil! It's enchanted with various magics that boost your performance!" He then pulls out a frilly pink ribbon, "And this is an item normally given only to high ranking Paladins! The Guardian Ribbon! Powerful magics woven within will protect you from various hazards, including demonic corruption!" He then pulls out a black ring, "But last, and certainly not least, is a ring made from the extremely rare Black Mithral! It will negate any and all magic within an area, protecting you from even the strongest of magical monsters!"
  36. "Excuse me." Sarah speak up from within her cloak and gets the merchant's attention. He turns towards Sarah and puts on a faux smile, "Yes, Miss? Have my wares enticed you?"
  37. She crosses her arms and narrows her eyes at the man, "Wouldn't a Black Mithral ring supposed to weigh more than a boulder?" The surrounding crowd begins to talk amongst themselves upon hearing this.
  38. "She's right, isn't it supposed to be too heavy for a normal human to lift?" A woman in a bonnet opens a fan and covers the lower half of her face with it.
  39. "I heard even Minotaurs would have trouble lifting a pebble of the stuff..." The drunken guy from earlier who was complaining about his younger brother speaks up in between his drinks.
  40. "It's also only useful if you want to prevent mages from breaking into your house." A young woman speaks up while wiping away bread crumbs from her mouth.
  41. "I don't even know what you people are talking about." A green haired girl with horns shakes her head, which is poking out from the ground.
  42. The merchant begins to sweat, "D-DON'T WORRY! The ring is enchanted with a spell to make it weightless! Don't listen to this crazy woman!" He tries his best to win the crowd back. "So an item made from a material that negates magic was enchanted with magic?" Sarah immediately retorts. The crowd begins to leave, murmuring about how he was pretty shady. Once the crowd has completely dispersed, the peddler angrily marches up to Sarah and begins shouting at her. "YOU! YOU HAVE A LOT OF NERVE, WHORE! I AM A HIGH RANKING MEMBER OF THE MERCHANT GUILD! YOU'LL PAY DEARLY FOR THIS!" He loudly shouts her her face, causing her to wince at his horrible smelling breath. Deciding to step in, I kick one of his legs out from underneath him and watch him fall to the ground with a THUD.
  43. "DAMN YOU!" He shouts once more before standing back up and getting in my personal space, "YOU! YOU AND THAT WHORE HAVE A DEATH WISH?!" I calmly stare at the man who has numerous veins bulging out on his head, "I highly suggest you calm down, sir."
  44. "SHUT UP! DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU-" He stops shouting, and begins staring at my face. He stares at me for a few seconds, before running off in fear.
  45. UH OH
  46. I'm pretty sure that's a good sign for us to get out of town. NOW. We quickly move about town, regrouping with Ami while she was in the middle of haggling for a better price for beans, and leave the town's north-west exit.
  47.
  48. "Why did we have to leave in such a hurry?" Ami complains as we quickly move along a dirt road, her large bag of items jiggling and bouncing with each step. I pat her on the head, "Something came up, and I decided we should get going."
  49. "But-"
  50. "We'll make a little stop by any one ruin or such of your choice if you just don't question it."
  51. "O-OKAY! Can we stop by the Forest of Spirits?!"
  52. "Yeah, sure." I turn towards Sarah, who hasn't spoken in a little while, "You fine with that, Sarah?"
  53. "I have no problem with it. Though if I remember correctly, a powerful spirit resides within the forest." She nods while walking along.
  54. "Alright, let's get going." The three of us continue onward, with me occasionally looking over my shoulder for anyone following us.
