  1. Although there are better points than in the doujin era, there are many parts that have become worse and cannot be ignored, so the score is very harsh. For the time being, I would recommend buying all 10 volumes of the manga version rather than paying 8,000 yen for this installment.
  2. I already played the doujin version of Tsukihime more than ten years ago, and this Tsukihime is what got me into PC games, so I'm very harsh in judging whether it surpasses the doujin version.
  3.
  4. In addition, I don't put much importance on graphics and presentation. I'm going to focus most of my grading on the scenario and characters.
  5.
  6. However, I do give a lot of importance to the BGM. However, among the BGMs in this new version, I didn't find one that shook my soul the moment I heard it, like the doujin version of "Tsukihime" (song title). To be honest, the reason I was so strongly attracted to the Tsukihime game was because of the wonderful synergy between the piano melody of the BGM "Tsukihime" and the title screen, which was beautifully integrated with it. It's no exaggeration to say that without that combination, without that "Tsukihime" song, I would not have been so engrossed in this game.
  7.
  8. However, in the new version of the game, the song "Tsukihime" was still there, but it was arranged in a more modern (?) style. But in this new version, there was a song called "Tsukihime", but it was arranged in a modern (?) style, which was a big dissatisfaction for me, because the arrangement seemed to erase the goodness of the original song. It's hard to understand why they ruined such a soul-stealing and amazing song.
  9.
  10. In conclusion, based on all these factors
  11. Alcade route is "slightly inferior to the doujin version" from the beginning to the middle, but "surpasses the doujin version" after the middle.
  12. The Ciel route was rated much lower than the doujin version.
  13. The Ciel route was rated much lower than the doujin version, and as a whole, I would have to rate it as "lower than the doujin version.
  14.
  15. To begin with, this game is only half of the "Tsukihime" story, and cannot be evaluated fairly. The story of Tsukihime can only be discussed by looking at all the sides of the moon, the front side and the back side, as it was described at the time.
  16.
  17. Why did the main character, Shiki, kill Alcade? What exactly happened in Tono's house? Who is the protagonist Shiki? The answers to these mysteries, which can be said to be the foundation of the story, can only be found on the far side of the moon. The story is not complete on the front side alone. Therefore, I can't give it a maximum of 100 points for that reason alone. The upper limit is 50 points, half of the total.
  18.
  19. After that, I'm going to use a point deduction system, but aside from Alcade's route, Ciel's route has a lot of points to be deducted, so the overall rating is lowered by that.
  20.
  21. Here is a critique of each route.
  22.
  23.
  24. Alcade Route
  25.
  26.
  27. There are no major changes in this route from the doujin version after the fifth day. However, the middle boss of the story has been changed from Nero Chaos to a new character named Vrove. It is said that he was brought in to symbolize the "new Tsukihime", but to be honest, he is inferior to Nero Kaos in the doujin version, and has a lower "rank" as an enemy. This is what lowers the overall rating.
  28.
  29. Nero Kaos is a character who has lived for a thousand years, and he is a very attractive enemy character with a high level of intelligence and knowledge. In contrast, the new Vrove is a character who says nothing but "It's cold... it's cold..." all the time. There was no deep exploration of his past, and he was just a character to show off the setting of what vampires can do. He seems like a character created to explain the newly reworked "Twenty-Seventh Ancestor," and like Nero, he doesn't have even 1/10th of the charm as a character.
  30.
  31. Also, Vrouve also uses the "dead" and Shiki sees too many of them, but then he is surprised at how many "dead" lines there are, which felt strange to me. I'm sure we all know that vampires are capable of creating such beings, and that these beings are covered with death rays, but to be surprised now was like "hmm? I was surprised. In the doujin version, Nero didn't use any such minions, so it was natural for Shiki to be surprised by the amount of "lines" since he had never seen the dead before, but I felt it was a bit "messy" that his surprise was the same as in the doujin version. I remember that my expectations were greatly lowered in this area.
  32.
  33. It's true that the dead that Vroob used were obviously "zombies," so it's natural that the reaction to "zombies that look like humans but are actually zombies" would be different. However, I still feel uncomfortable that he reacts as if he has never seen a zombie before, when he already knows about the existence of "zombies used by vampires. It would have been different if there had been at least a sentence like, "I wouldn't have thought that the burning (frozen) zombies of Vrouve would be so horrifying," but I think it's strange to react as if you've never really heard of zombies before.
  34.
  35. Of course, there are some points to be added. It was very good to change the part of the story told from the "church people's" point of view, which was carried by Ciel in the doujin version, to Noel and Máriu. In fact, I would have preferred to have Marliou and the others play that role until the end of the story. Also, the change from the R18 scene in the doujin version to the 17 parts again was a big addition. I also like how when they receive the Seven Nights, they casually allude to the weaponry of their own father, Seven Nights Hwangri. A similar point can be seen in the way Aoko-sensei in the prologue says things like "advice no.1" and "advice no.2" in a way that is reminiscent of Shiki's techniques in Melbra: "Kirifuda no.1" and "Kirifuda Sononi".
  36.
  37. As for the last boss, Roa, I think that was a good change as well. In this route, the personality of Shiki Tono, which was shown in the doujin version, was not shown at all, and the whole story was composed only of the personality of Roa. And the expression "It's time to burn the book" when the collapsed Shiki's personality was completely painted over was also good.
  38.
  39. In the doujin version, the expression of putting an end to Roa's life was as if his body was damaged by the collapse of the rubble, but this time, by connecting the "death of the corridor" with the "death of Roa's body," the description was changed to "killing" Roa's lower half completely. I'm glad to see that.
  40.
  41. As for the Alcade route, I can say that the flow of the story is not much different from the doujin version, and it is good to see some minor new elements. However, as I mentioned earlier, there were some points that were difficult to reconcile with the completely new chapters, so I can't say that it surpassed the doujin version. So, it was not a work that I could call "better than the doujin version!
  42.
  43. I would give it a score of 45 out of 50.
  44.
  45.
  46. Ciel Route
  47.
  48. Now, the question is this. First of all, Ciel, the heroine at the center of this route, has been an "unpopular heroine" since her doujin days. She has never been ranked in the top three in popularity polls, despite the fact that she has been given a lot of official support. Until the fighting game Melbra came out and she gained a certain level of popularity due to her good performance and action-promoting motions, she was always in the bottom of the heroine group, and at one point was even beaten by sub-characters such as Ren and Sachin.
  49.
  50. As I said, I too do not find her attractive as seen through the symbol "heroine. In the first place, it was an encounter in which favor was implied, and her stench was considerable from the player's perspective from her first appearance.
  51.
  52. However, from the point of view of a single character, she was an indispensable part of this story. As a symbol of the existence of the "vampire hunters" against the "vampires" and as a representative of the "church" mechanism, her existence was important. Ciel was a guide who spoke about the world of Tsukihime and the world of vampires from a different perspective than Alcade.
  53.
  54. However, in this new board, the role of the "sole storyteller" has been diminished since there are people from the "church" such as Maariou, his two subordinates, and even Noel-sensei. In fact, Ma Liou is more suitable for the role of sharing such knowledge. Therefore, she has to play a different role.
  55.
  56. That's how she became "a flashy fighter". ...... To be honest, I don't feel comfortable with this. To begin with, Tsukihime was a "static" story, and although there were some flashy battles, they were like fights between masters, sweaty but not flashy. The opposite of this, the "dynamic" story, should be left to the Fate series, where the heroic spirits run around. Otherwise, we would be saying, "No, that's fine with Fate," which would be like losing our own flavor.
  57.
  58. So, if "flashy combat" itself is not necessary in "Tsukihime," then Ciel has a lot of "extra" roles to play. And then there's the added bonus of her "heroine charm".
  59.
  60. This is also a flaw in the structure of the game, but Ciel's route can only be accessed after clearing Alcade's route. Also, it's not like Fate, where you can enter the game by choosing a new option, but rather, you have to choose the Ciel option in every chapter from the first to third day to unlock it. This was a pain in the ass to be honest.
  61. The Alcade route is structured to extract the charm of Alcade, the heroine, without overdoing it. Most of the scenario is about the relationship between Shiki and Alcade, and it's really a story about the two of them. Many players will become attached to this character, Alcade.
  62.
  63. However, in Ciel's route, you have to make a harsh choice against Alquaid and break up with her. Of course, it would be better if Ciel had the charm to reject this beloved character, Alquaid, but as the popularity polls of the doujin era clearly show, Alquaid is overwhelming both as a heroine and as a character. Ciel doesn't have the charm that makes me want to choose her, even if I have to wear such a beloved heroine on my sleeve. Even when I was doing the scenario as a player, I wasn't really attracted to her. This is a structural problem that has existed since the doujin era, but in the doujin era, the GOODEND helped to resolve that player's shame. The GOODEND in the doujin era was to follow Alcade's advice and see the "death" of Roa only with her backup. Although it is Ciel's route, it is the result of the Alcueid END. Because of this "she and Alcuade become friends in the end" ending, I was able to accept a route that was hostile to Alcuade. If the player chooses the option that is more in line with Alcade, then that's where they will end up.
  64.
  65. However, in this new edition, the good ending is gone. Instead, what we see is Alcuade as a space monster, just to show off the new setting. To be honest, I'd rather see something like that happen in FGO. I don't understand the need for Tsukihime when there are other contents that can be segregated. I'm not looking for that in Tsukihime. I thought, "Do it with Fate," and watched it from a cold perspective from start to finish, so I didn't find it particularly interesting. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm sure it'll be great.
  66.
  67. ...... No, to be honest, I skipped over it. I'm was sure if there is a hidden route or not. I was disappointed to find out that there was no such thing.
  68.
  69. It's a long story, but this is the problem with the structure of Ciel as a heroine. I understand why Shiki falls in love with Alcade, but I don't understand why he chooses Ciel after rejecting Alcade. To put it bluntly, my mind is occupied with the thought, "Why would you choose that guy? I can't get into the story at all.
  70.
  71. In the doujin era, there was an event in which the heroine's sensitivity skyrocketed as she tried to save Shiki despite being skewered repeatedly by Roa, but this was cut completely. I really liked the scene where the personalities of Roa and Shiki Tohno switched sides like a switch, so the fact that this scene was cut was a big disappointment for me. This is the only scene where the two people who have a history with each other, Roa and Ciel, face each other directly. At the same time, it is the only scene where the two people who have a history with each other face each other directly. However, in this new version, there is no scene where Roa and Ciel face each other in either of the two routes, so the question arises, "Does Ciel really want to defeat Roa? This makes me wonder, "Does Ciel really want to defeat Roa?", and makes the treatment of their "fate" seem to be very light, as the response to Vroob and Roa seems to be to the same degree. For this reason, the setting that Ciel had, "the body of the previous Roa," does not work well. In the doujinshi era, especially in the manga version, the scenes where they face each other, have a conversation, and come to a causal confrontation are described in a profound way. However, the new version is surprisingly light in its treatment of these fates. As a result, a few days go by without Roa noticing that he has been defeated, which is an incompetence that cannot be defended as an agent.
  72.
  73. In the manga version, Ciel was determined to use only the techniques he had learned in the church, and he imposed on himself the rule that he would never use the knowledge of magic brought by Roa. In other words, he had such an aversion and hatred for Roa. In the doujin version, Ciel had the pride of not using the techniques and knowledge of her hated opponent. In the manga version, she even threw away that pride and was determined to destroy Roa at all costs. But in the new version of Ciel, there is no description that makes us feel such a sense of avoidance or taboo about using Roa's knowledge. This also makes me feel that Ciel's feelings for Roa are not very strong. As a result, the character of Ciel also turns into a flimsy character.
  74.
  75.
  76. Now, let's continue with a more lengthy spoiler. This is because, as I mentioned above, the character of Ciel has deteriorated from the doujin version. In the doujin version, she certainly wasn't very attractive as a heroine, but as an explanatory or supporting character, she had a lot of flavor. However, in the new version, all those aspects that existed in the doujin era have disappeared.
  77.
  78. First of all, she is no longer the "only" character on the church side. In the doujin version, she was the only representative in the Far Eastern island nation, but this time, there is a powerful and capable Marliou. If Ciel is determined to destroy Roa at all costs, it would be more efficient and effective to form a joint front with him. If there's a reason why she can't do that, she needs to make sure she describes it. However, in this work, Ciel is portrayed as working on his own, not on the orders of the "church". This is also the case with Ma Liou, but even so, it would have been worthwhile to put up a joint front. However, Ciel didn't do so, or rather, she ignored Maariou's suggestion and acted only half-heartedly with Noel. As a result, he is a fool who doesn't notice for days that the body of Shiki Tono has already been destroyed by Alquade. The characterization of him as a "capable agent" that he portrayed in the doujin era has also been lost. Since those parts were taken care of by Marliou, the impression of "a character with only talent" and "a character with only fighting" has become stronger.
  79.
  80. And the biggest problem is the existence of a new character named Noel. In the doujin version of the game, she had to explore the city and disguise her identity to get close to Shiki Tono, the candidate for the loa, all by herself. There is no need for the two of them to infiltrate the school. Noel, who is less capable of fighting, can gather information, while Ciel can play the dangerous role of hunting the dead and searching for the hearse. This is a more satisfying arrangement, but for some strange reason, both of them are at the school. Noel's presence dilutes, or rather eliminates, the reason for Ciel's student role-playing. It's no longer a rational reason to "eradicate the vampire loa", but just a meta reason of "I'm the heroine, so I need to make a connection with the hero". Because of this, the question of "why is this person so carefree and a student?" lingers in my mind, and my perspective on the story becomes cold.
  81.
  82. Furthermore, Noel is a fascinating character. This is just my personal opinion, but I would have preferred Noel to be the heroine rather than Ciel. This would have made the player think, "Why would you choose this woman? Noel is quite "human". Noel is a very "human" character, capable of both comical and brutal depictions, and her mental state is very full, with Ciel being the culprit.
  83.
  84. And then it continues. The character Noel is actually the only survivor of the city that Ciel destroyed during the Roa (vampire) era. In Fate, Noel is like Shiro to Kiritsugu. And yet, Ciel is cold towards Noel. She even throws her sword at him to injure him. Moreover, at that point, Noel was the one with the "reason". It's true that Ciel had a point to make, but it's only logical that she should be able to convey her intentions to her partner Noel. In that scene, no matter how many excuses Ciel makes, there is no other way to say it other than "I tried to escape because I like him. Noel doesn't forgive Ciel, but he still acts like a machine that hunts vampires and believes in his words that doing so is his redemption, which is why he has been able to be his partner. But here she is, showing us her outrageous behavior as if to say, "I've got a guy I'm in love with, so I've never done anything like this before. I don't know how she could do such a terrible thing. Doesn't that make her "Noel's priority" more than anything else? In Ciel's position. It's true that Noel was invaded by Roa, but Ciel took everything from Noel. And yet, you've failed to take care of her emotional needs or even communicate with her properly.
  85.
  86. When Noel denounced him for it, Ciel did what he could. She used violence to silence the person she didn't like. She's the worst, she's scum. How is this a "good person"? How could he do that to the person who took everything from him, of all people? It's like Kiritsugu shooting Shiro and Ilya because he has a new girl he likes.
  87.
  88. Why should he fall in love with this woman? And of course, Ciel kills Noel, who sinks into despair and becomes a vampire after this. Yes, she kills him without hesitation. But she doesn't kill Tono-kun, whom she loves, even though he is also a vampire. I will kill Noel, who took away my parents, my hometown, and my peaceful way of life. And I will be happy with Tono-kun. It's just my personal preference, but I really dislike women who put up a facade like this, who think only of themselves, who put their own needs first, and who pretend to be "stifling their own emotions. It's all very personal, but that's just my personal opinion.
  89.
  90. Why do I have to like this woman? (For the second time) And she even rejected the attractive heroine, Alcade.
  91.
  92. If, at the end of the normal story, I had said, "I'm just like Noel. I became a vampire and killed a lot of people. I killed her, and I can't be allowed to seek my own happiness. If she had said something like, "But if my life can save Tono-kun's life," my opinion of her would have been different, but at that time, there was not a trace of Noel in her mind. I don't know how she can be so thick-skinned. In the end, I realized that this woman had no intention of atoning for her sins, and was just an outsider who wanted to die comfortably.
  93.
  94. Why should I fall in love with such a woman? (For the third time) And because of that, Shiki's infatuation with such a woman made me think "What a stupid man" and Alcade's infatuation with such a woman made me think "That's the extent of it, true ancestor. I can't help but feel that she's a different person from Shiki and Alk in Alcade's route. (Well, maybe not the same person, since Shiki is actually being invaded by Roa.
  95.
  96. In conclusion, this new version of Ciel compares to the doujin era.
  97.
  98.
  99. The new version of Ciel has become incompetent as a substitute because of Ma Liou.
  100. With Noel, she no longer needs to disguise herself as a "senior" at school.
  101. Because of her attitude towards Noel, she has become the worst kind of human being.
  102.
  103.
  104. So that's what I've come to. So, naturally, a story with such a character at its core does not deserve to be evaluated. I give it a score of zero. However, the characters of Maariou and Noel were very good, so I'll give it a 5.
  105.
  106. However, I am convinced that the story would have been better if the character of Ciel had been eliminated and only Maariou and Noel were used. The individual elements and the development are good, but when this woman is involved, the story devolves into a trilogy. Truly, she was a disturbing woman.
  107.
  108. The motive of the story was really unimportant to me, but I appreciate the part about "fighting together with Roa". The process leading up to it is like digging your own grave, so I can't give it a proper rating, but the interaction between the two was good. But the interaction between the two was good, although it also revealed Ciel's incompetence. What Shiki was able to do, Ciel was unable to do. As Roa said, "I'm disappointed in Elesia," and that's really it. I'll give it 10 points because the portrayal of Roa was very good.
  109.
  110.
  111. For this outcast route, (45+15)/2 gives this work a rating of 30. 30 out of 50. 60 out of 100. But well, that's about right.
  112.
  113.
  114. If I were to speak my mind without embellishment, it would be "disappointing" and I would feel as if my memories were "tainted". However, the middle and later parts of Alcade's route were good, so I'll give it a score of 60. Oh, but considering that the description of "Tono Shiki", which was described to some extent in the doujin version, is almost zero, I'll give it a minus of 5 points, and give it a 55.
  115.
  116. No, the arrangement of "Tsukihime" (the name of the song) is also a big point deduction, so I'll give it another -5 points, still 50 points.
  117.
  118. However, I was left with the feeling that I don't want to have to watch this outcast woman again in the future, so my motivation to purchase the remaining side of the moon was greatly reduced. If I have some sympathy, it's because in the doujin version, the True End was a choice more like Ciel, and the GOOD End was a choice more like Alcade, but in the new version, the choice more like Ciel was the Normal End, and the choice more like Alcade was the True End, so I had to change the True End of my route to I guess it means that Alcade was portrayed more in the new version. Well, I don't really care.
  119.
  120.
  121.
  122. If anyone is interested in Tsukihime and is planning to buy this game for 8800 yen, you can buy the manga version of the true moon tale Tsukihime
