  1. The Trial of Connar Green
  2. Location: Venice, Italy
  3. (Sunlight streams in through a broken dome periodically being blocked by the workmen outside trying to fix it. Sitting in this flickering ray of light is an antique judges bench behind which are three over stuffed leather chairs. Across from the bench is a two story gallery that is slowly filling with people, Kenzie and Blaise have taken seats on the second level in the front row. Connar is brought into the courtroom in chains, accompanied by a young looking council envoy, who appears to be his council representative. They are followed by a pair of armored envoys walking a muzzled Tuk on the end of a pair of dog catcher’s poles. The prosecutor a British man in his late 50’s has already taken a seat at the front of the courtroom. As Connar takes his seat and Tuk is chained to a metal pole at the front of the court room, the judges enter the room, two women and one man. The first woman is dressed in expensive business suit and appears to be in her late 60’s, the second is wearing green monks robes and also seems to be in her late 60’s. The man is dressed in a Templar uniform with multiple medals clinking against each other on his chest, his shaking hands and white handle bar mustache would suggest that he is at least 90. The two women take their seats and help the man into his, their attention is now on Connar.)
  4. Templar Judge: (speaking with a heavy French accent, as he struggles to make himself heard.) A pleasure to see you again Dr. Green. (A hint of sarcasm seems to underlie his tone.)
  5. Connar: (Remains silent.)
  6. Illuminati Judge: As of 8/05/2014, Dr. Connar Wallace Green has been accused of violating articles 3, 19, 22, and 31 of the treaty of Venice. This Tribunal has concluded that there is sufficient evidence to bring the following charges. 1. 3 counts of exposing uninitiated civilians to praeternatural phenomena, without faction approval (Article 3 of the Treaty of Venice.) 2. Utilizing a class 0 ability with in a civilian area during peacetime (article 19 of the Treaty of Venice.) 3. Use of force against another faction outside of the authorized conflict resolution zones (article 22 of the Treaty of Venice). 4. Failure to notify the Council of a force that threatens the continued existence of the human race (article 33 of the treaty of Venice.) You have had time to review the charges Dr. Green, how do you plea.
  7. Connar: I’m innocent under article one of the treaty of Venice, I was acting to stop the annihilation of the human race by an outside threat.
  8. (Hushed whispers fill the courtroom, as the Templar judge struggles to bang his gavel and bring the courtroom back to order.)
  9. Dragon Judge: While I admire your determination in the face of these charges Dr. Green, I'm obligated to remind you that you have no proof the human race was in any danger, have you discussed this plea with your representative?
  10. Envoy: he has your Honor and he insists on moving forward.
  11. Illuminati Judge: You are either a very brave man or a very stupid one, its always hard to tell with dragons. (Said while smiling at the dragon judge)
  12. Templar Judge: Enough, the both of you, Mr. Hill, your opening statement.
  13. (As the prosecutor goes over the charges being brought against Connar, the doors on the second story of the gallery burst open. In the doorway stands a japanese man in sunglasses and a well made suit, he has an obnoxiously large grin on his face and a spring in his step. As he struts down to a pair of open seats next to Kenzie and Blaise the entire courtroom seems to glare at him.)
  14. Dragon Judge: Kind of you to join us Mr. Kiyota, please take your seat and refrain from interrupting the proceeding any further.
  15. Daimon: Don't worry high hat, I’m not here to bust up the joint.
  16. Templar Judge: (Glaring at Daimon before turning his attention back to the prosecutor) Mr. Hill you were saying?
  17. (As the court room returns to order, the gallery doors quietly creek open once again, this time a Japanese woman in a heavy purple skirt, slinks through the door and takes a seat near the back corner of the gallery.)
  18. Hill: This blatant disregard for both the spirit and letter of the treaty is not a new phenomena for Dr. Green, his actions in the eastern front during the second world war can be connected either directly or indirectly to at least several war crimes perpetrated by the soviets. In the light of these previous allegations and these new charges, I move that the defendant be transferred to a class 0 facility where he can no longer threaten the human race.
  19. Illuminati Judge: Mr. Hill if Dr. Green is convicted we will decide his sentence, is that clear.
  20. Hill: (Looking insulted)...yes your honor.
  21. Templar Judge: Your advice has been noted Mr. Hill, now please the evidence.
  22. Hill: Lights please (As the lights dim a screen descends from the ceiling and the footage of operation bloody sunday begins to play. The only light in the chamber is the glow of three screens on the judges bench playing the footage and the projectors light. )
  23. Daimon:(Turning to Kenzie and Blaise) Hows things bearcat, what about you alley cat? hows tricks?
  24. Blaise: Docs up shit creek and I don't know if we can help.
  25. Kenzie: (Holding her hand over Blaises mouth) What brings you all the way out here?
  26. Daimon: Bong was beating her gums about how the council might bump off Jonhy walker and his mutt down there. I had a hankering for gelato, so I thought I'd come see what kind of trouble the harps gotten himself into.
  27. Kenzie: Bull shit, you wouldn't leave tokyo unless you absolutely had too. So either The Korinto-kai got their asses kicked or you need Connar for something. Since you're in high spirits, I’m guessing you need Connar.
  28. Daimon: (Looking over his sunglasses) keen eye red. Tell me bearcat you ever play Pachinko? I know you white folks don't think much of the game, so heres a little refresher on the basics. The goal of the game is to capture as many of the little metal balls as you can, you get more of the little balls if you can get one of your balls into certain areas of the screen. Enter the pins, the pins are there to stop your balls from getting to the high point areas and allowing me to take all your hard earned clams.
  29. Kenzie: Is this going somewhere or did you just come here to talk shop with strangers.
  30. Daimon: Easy bearcat I’m getting to it. You see the pins aren't just obstacles, they also generate entropy, every little ping creates chaos and from that chaos new possibilities are borne. Balls that would otherwise just fall into the machine are shot into high point zones and the result is fabulous cash prizes...your friend creates a lot of chaos, chaos I can not afford to waste, you digg?
  31. (the lights click on as the video finishes)
  32. Hill: In light of this footage and Dr Greens past atrocities, I submit that not only is he guilty but also worthy of the maximum penalty.
  33. Templar Judge: We will take Dr Greens past into consideration with the available evidence Mr. Hill, Mr. Tobias what does Dr. Green have to say in his defence?
  34. Connar: I acknowledge that I violated several articles of the Treaty of Venice, but everything that happened in that video was in defence of the human race. You saw the footage Nicodemus has returned, its important that we find and…
  35. Hill: Objection the man in the video is unidentifiable, further more his identity has no bearing on the matters at hand.
  36. Templar Judge: Sustained, Mr. Tobias is there anything else you wish to present in defence of Dr. Green.
  37. Tobias: We do your honor, we have testimony from Mr. Jules Burnet one of the agents who was there for the operation. He has given his answers to from IIa in the packet.
  38. Jules testimony:
  39. 1.Please state your full name and affiliation for the record.
  40. My name is Jules Burnet, I am also known as Boom-Booms and I guess a few other aliases. I used to work with the Templars, but that's many years back. Fortunately we both agreed that my energy was better invested elsewhere and I got hired by the Rosetta Foundation which is an independent, privately owned Foundation.
  41. 2. How do you know the defendant?
  42. I have had the pleasure of doing a few missions with him in the field.
  43. 3. Please describe the condition you found the hostages in and how you believe they came to be in this state.
  44. The hostages? You mean the victims? They were already there when we came and I can only guess at the horrors they had been put through before we got there to rescue them.
  45. 4. Please explain why the hostages were taken into the wind tunnel and who gave the orders to move them there.
  46. I do not recall if anyone actually gave a straight order to bring the freed prisoners into the wind tunnel, but it would have been madness to leave them alone in that place.
  47. 5. Did you at any time feel you or the hostages were in any danger?
  48. We do danger. It's our job. You can't stay safe while keeping the world safe. The hostages were in danger of losing their lives before we found them. As long as we did not have them out of the area they were still in danger. I don't mind being in danger myself, and I am convinced we all did what we could to keep the victims safe.
  49. 6. Did you know Dr. Green was capable of using class 0 force at the time of the operation?
  50. I don't even know what the hell you mean with a class 0 force, so the answer to that would be a no.
  51. 7. Have you suffered any adverse effects as a result of exposure to class 0 phenomena?
  52. nope - I am as good as ever.
  53. 8. Are there any extenuating circumstances this tribunal should know about?
  54. Extenuating circumstances? I don't even see what the purpose of the case is, so that's a bit of a stretch to ask me about that, isn't it? Sometimes you need to crack some eggs to make an omelet. What matters is that you get the job done, save some lives and that you can still look yourself in the eyes in the mirror.
  55. 9. Do you believe Dr. Green was acting in humanities best interest at the time of the incident?
  56. Yes. As I said. That's our job. We do what's needed, when it's needed, even if it's not going to get us any new members for our private fan club.
  57. (As Tobias begins to deliver his closing statement, Daimon eyes fall on Tuk.)
  58. Daimon: Did they seriously muzzle the mutt and bring it in to stand trial? seriously who does that? (sighs)...anyway this has gone on long enough, I can't stand to see a dumb animal suffer...or his dog.
  59. Kenzie: Tuks a wolf.
  60. Daimon: details. (tossing a smart phone to Blaise,) hay Alley cat do me a solid and give our friend down there a ring.
  61. Blaise: Which one?
  62. Daimon: Doesn't matter just start hitting buttons.
  63. Blaise: (happily begins tapping away at the screen.)
  64. (As Tobias finishes his closing statement, Mr. Hills phone begins to ring.)
  65. Templar Judge: (sighs) envoy please bring me Mr. Hills phone.
  66. (one of the envoys in the courtroom reaches into Hill’s pocket and grabs his phone and quickly brings it to the judges desk.)
  67. Templar Judge: (A look of horror slowly begins to creep across his face as he reads the phone.) Envoy place Mr. Hill under arrest, the tribunal has been compromised.
  68. (As envoys move to apprehend Mr. Hill, he draws a pistol from his jacket.)
  69. Hill: We will reclaim the order no matter the cost! (he then puts the pistol inside his mouth and pulls the trigger)
  70. (screams come from the gallery as the templar judge angrily shouts for order. Amongst the chaos the dragon judge finds Connar.)
  71. Dragon Judge: I'm afraid we are going to have to call this a mistrial Dr. Green, consider the charges dismissed.
  72. (Another envoy moves to unlock Connars shackles, as Tuk is released from the pole.)
  73. Connar: you’re not going to remove Tuks muzzle?
  74. Envoy: Not while he is in the building sir. This way sir, we need you to fill out a few forms before you can leave.
  75. Connar: (Turns towards the gallery, to see the smiling faces of his friends one more time before following the envoy.)
  76. Kenzie: What did you say?
  77. Blaise: All I said was hi, bit of an over reaction don't you think.
  78. Daimon: No, one of your Church friends said hi, and by the looks of it its not the first time the two of them have been in contact.
  79. Kenzie: Why are you helping us Daimon. What do you gain from Connars freedom?
  80. Daimon: Bearcat I’m hurt, can't I do a good deed without getting the third degree?
  81. Kenzie: Dont dodge the question.
  82. Daimon: I already answered your question bearcat, your friend creates chaos wherever he goes. Chaos that's going to tilt the game.
  83. Kenzie: And why do you think Connar’s going to help you.
  84. Daimon: The harps a friendly guy and friendly people help one another bearcat, that being said I have some new friends as of late and she be very upset if Connar didn't help.
  85. Kenzie: You have a hostage.
  86. Daimon: She is my guest…for now, all I need from gang green is for you to go to Orochi tower and finish your fight with the fairy god slayer and we will all live happily ever after. (Said while smiling at the woman in the back corner.)
  87. Kenzie: That may take a while.
  88. Daimon:No rush bearcat, tell Green I have got plenty of time. (As Daimon gets up to walk away, he whistles and the woman in the corner comes to his side.) Lets get out of here mighty mouse we have got errands to run.
  89. end of file.
