>hellhound lost her sight in a fight
>informed that she needs a seeing eye human
>protests at every step of the process
>day comes when she's supposed to be introduced to you
>loudly complaining in the office that she doesn't need a human as you open the door
>nose twitches as she picks up your scent, scoffs and sits their in sileince while counciler explains how this works
>you live with her, help her get used to living without sight, help her with any errands etc.
>drive her home, she's silent the whole way there
>begin to set up in your new home
>she's moping on the couch, but her ears are swiveling to follow you around the apartment
>begin setting up your bed in a different room, swear you hear her sigh
>tells you that you can go home, she's just find and she doesn't need you as you make dinner
>only stops berating you as weak and useless when she's devouring the meal you cooked
>she begins "watching" tv while you put the dishes into the dishwasher
>some generic action movie
>take a seat next to her, ask her if you need to describe what's happening
>snorts and tells you that she's seen it a hundred times
>as you watch the movie, you notice her head isn't facing the tv
>she's looking at you, as if she's trying to see where you are
>ask her if everything is alright
>tells you to shut up and stop ruining the movie

>begin to help rehabilitate her
>taking her to the store, helping her get to her appointments, teaching her how to navigate with a cane
>always grumbling about you being there or whatever you're "forcing" her to do
>always does it anyways
>learning quickly
>loves going to the gym, she's used all the machines and racks enough times to operate them without vision
>always staring at you when you get home
>says she can't help it, she's blind
>you know it's bullshit by the way her nose wiggles whenever you enter the room and her ears always snap to you
>one day while you're watching tv with her, she asks you to describe yourself
>doesn't say anything when you finish, goes to bed soon after
>one day on the way back from the grocery store, another monster takes interest in you
>too much interest
>hellhound does her best to fight off the monster, but her skills aren't enough to compensate for her lack of sight
>police arrive just in time to prevent you from being abducted
>take hellhound home and patch her up
>she breaks down as you apply the bandages, calls herself worthless
>can't even protect a human
>begins to sob about how she feels like a burden to you when she should be the one caring for you
>reassure her that she doesn't have to be your guardian, you're here because you care
>she's unconvinced, but settled down a little bit
>snuggle with her on the couch to calm her down
>out of nowhere, she asks to feel your face
>allow her
>her massive paws delicately run over your face while her sightless red eyes stare through you
>the most intense look of concentration you've ever seen on her face as she tries to put the picture together in her mind
>does it so long she falls asleep on top of you

>the next day she's more composed
>seems more determined
>less griping and berating you
>now singularly focused on regaining normalcy in her life
>gets a brail keyboard and headphones so that she can begin to use the computer
>enlists the help of a werebat neighbor to help her learn rudimentary echolocation
>has you set up obstacle courses in the apartment parking lot for her to navigate
>asks (demands) that you start letting her help around the kitchen
>supervise her as she clumsily macerates her food with a knife and nearly dumps a pot of boiling water onto herself
>keeps at it anyways
>goes on walks to and from the grocery store, doctors office, gym, and park for practice navigating
>asks for more protein heavy dishes, notice she's setting pr's more frequently at the gym
>one day asks if you can help her run
>wheeze along ahead of her as she jogs behind you
>insists on running farther than you had ever run before, has to carry your flabby body back to the car
>insufferably smug about this, reminds you that she isn't the only one who needs help
>always on the internet at night for some reason after your habitual tv watching time together
>whenever you approach her door, you always hear her use the voice command to close an internet tab before you open the door
>refuses to say what she's doing, or even that she's doing anything when asked
>one day, says she's going out to the grocery store
>offer to go with her, she says she's going alone
>more forceful than usual
>tell her to be safe and to call you if she needs anything
>night falls, no word from her
>start to panic
>get in your car, drive to the grocery store
>hellhound is nowhere to be found
>call her, straight to voicemail
>panic more
>start driving around aimlessly, calling her name
>after an hour of searching, hear your name echo in the distance
>break several traffic laws as you speed towards her voice
>finally find her, illegally park the car and hug her
>she threatens to beat you off with her cane
>acts tough, but you swear you can feel her trembling
>explains that she got lost, didn't realize her phone was dead when she left the house
>ask how she got so lost when she had been to the grocery store so many times before

>before she can answer, a hinezumi runs up the street
>tells the hellhound she forgot something at the dojo
>dojo?
>hinezumi explains how she runs a martial arts dojo
>notice that her milky eyes, put two and two together
>hellhound's ears are folded back against her head, tail tucked between her legs
>face is as red as a hellhounds face can get
>hinezumi says that you must be the man the hellhound told her about
>tells you that she has a lot of potential
>wishes you goodnight
>hellhound looks like she could die of embarrassment then and there
>says nothing on the car ride home
>neither do you
>you're more than a little upset that she would try to navigate through unfamiliar and dangerous territory to hide something from you
>when you get home she starts to cry
>begs you not to be mad
>tell her that what she did was stupid, if she wanted to go somewhere new she should have just asked for your help
>insists that she thought she could do it and that she wanted to prove to herself that she could still go places on her own
>ask why she wanted to go to the dojo all of a sudden
>hellhound instantly clams up
>threaten to go talk to the hinezumi yourself if she didn't tell you
>she fidgets for a moment
>mutters something unintelligible under her breath
>ask her to repeat it
>"To protect you"
>your heart nearly breaks
>hellhounds would be hellhounds after all
>it must be hard for a hellhound to nearly have someone taken from them
>one of the strongest species, and she couldn't even protect herself in that fight
>ease up on her a little
>tell her that it was a stupid move to try something like that, but that you thought the dojo would be a good confidence booster
>she nods and does her best to look sorry
>her wagging tail tells you that she's more happy than ashamed
>begins to go to the dojo regularly
>starts preparing meals by herself, uses brail cookbooks and text to speech software to get through the recipes
>have to practice cooking on your own time to make sure she doesn't get better than you (you still have your pride, after all)
>hellhound goes from beefy to shredded, shedding some of her pudge she had accumulated in the months following her loss of vision

>starts to rely on you less and less
>can get everywhere she would realistically ever want to go
>can cook for herself, though she likes your food more
>lack of sight no longer getting in the way of her hobbies, can lift, spar, read, and listen to her hearts content
>find yourself bereft of things to do for her most days
>choosing her outfit and helping her read her mail were some of the only things she needed you for
>still drags you out for runs and lifts occasionally
>says its to help you get in shape, but you know there's nothing she loves more in the world than to remind you how much stronger she was
>inform the program of her progress
>they're pleased to hear, tell you that you might be reassigned to a different girl soon
>feel a little sad, but know she doesn't need you anymore
>decide to just enjoy the time you have left
>one day, hellhound demands you take her to a park
>a big one, way out in the wilderness

>never lets it stop her, at most she mutters a curse and continues
>you suspect the hinezumi who ran the dojo taught her a thing or two about controlling her anger
>dirt path gives way to rocks near the summit
>have to clamber up on all fours to progress
>the high altitude, heavy pack, and miles of hiking it took to get this far have taken their toll

>tell her that you should probably head back, not safe to progress any farther
>hellhound sits there panting, looking at you with her blind eyes

>you don't know how, but she's looking up at the summit as if she can see it clear as day
>tells you you're going up there
>before you can protest, she scoops you up
>demand she put you down
>she tells you to shut up and stop squirming
>proceeds to climb with only three limbs
>somehow moving even faster with you in her arms
>half an hour later, you're standing at the summit with her
>she sets you down, throws her head back and howls
>picks you back up and kisses you
>her eyes shoot open, she sets you back down and apologizes profusely
>blames it on adrenaline and the thin air
>you just nod your head, too dazed from the power of the smooch
>she sits down next to you
>cuddles up to you to "protect you from the cold" (you were still sweating)
>let her carry you back down the mountain most of the way
>her tail is going ballistic the whole time
>smuggest she's ever been that night when she regales you (again) of how much you needed her that day
>tell her to shut up and get you another icepack for your aching thighs

>runs to her room and locks herself in before you can console her
>doesn't come out for dinner
>days pass, don't see hellhound at all
>you can tell that she's been in and out of the house, and that she's made herself food
>but the most you hear from her is her door slamming as you enter the apartment

>reason that she was just upset about losing a friend, and that you should try to do your job like normal until your last day
>get a letter in the mail from your agency
>hellhound has requested a formal appeal for independent living

>you direct her to a chair and go to inform the receptionist that hellhound is ready for her test

>succubus running the test steps out with her clipboard just in time to see you picking hellhound up off the floor

>hellhound facing off to the side the whole time
>first test: navigating a stretch of fake street
>hellhound weaves back and forth all over the place
>runs into a lamppost and off the curb into the street
>succubus ends the test when she practically tackles a trashcan
>you can't believe your eyes

>test two: household living
>ruins the meal she's instructed to cook
>gets lost in the model apartment
>sets things down where they'll pose a fire hazard
>can't work her own phone when instructed to call the police in case of an emergency
>succubus pulls you aside
>asks why the hell you would say that she didn't need you anymore when she was one of the worst cases the agency had ever seen
>you try to sputter out an explanation
>succubus cuts you off, tells you that if you don't get your act together that you'll be fired
>politely informs the hellhound that she isn't quite ready to live alone

>hellhound's tail is wagging like mad
>that conniving bitch...
>gets back into the car (without issue this time)
>smugly tells you that it looks like you'll be staying with her a bit longer
>offers to help you unpack everything
>you want to be mad at her, but in truth, you're just as happy that you get to stay with her

>help her put some bandages on her scraped face when you get home

>hellhound now living life to the max
>nothing hinders her anymore
>picks up new things quickly
>no longer mopey
>outgoing and boisterous, as a hellhound should be
>still needs you to dress her though
>you suspect that she would need your help for this even if she still had her sight
>these days its her dragging you places
>always excited to show you something new
>new place, new thing, new trick
>you're just glad to be there with her
>at the gym one day
>hellhound is on the bench pushin pl8s while you're on a rowing machine
>shadow looms over you
>look over your shoulder
>it's an amazon
>says hello, that she's new in town and getting to know some of the people at her new gym
>introduce yourself
>chat with her for a bit
>she asks what you do for a living, tell her that you help the blind
>see a glint in her eyes
>she tells you that you're a kind person to care for others like that
>oh no
>yoinks you off the rowing machine
>tells you that she'll take good care of you if you take good care of her
>whispers how criminal it is that a sweet boy like yourself hasn't been claimed yet
>cry out when she squeezes you
>hear the sound of a bar clatter to the floor
>hellhound is sprinting towards you
>amazon throws you aside
>the two begin slugging it out in the middle of the gym
>amazon clearly has fighitng experience, but so does hellhound
>all those days training with that blind hinezumi paying off
>hellhound takes some bad hits, but gives back what she takes twofold
>knocks the amazon out with a nasty roundhouse kick
>stands there panting for a few seconds
>whips around to you cowering behind her
>crazed look in her non-functional eyes
>throws you over her shoulder and sprints out of the gym towards home
>practically kicks down the door
>skids into her room, throws you onto the bed
>pounces on you and mashes her face into yours
>after a few minutes, she seems to sober up
>begins to ask for your consent
>tell her not to hold back
>tears off your pants
>tries to suck you off, fails to get it into her mouth the first few times
>laugh as she nudges your junk around with her nose
>stop laughing when she starts sucking your soul out of your nuts
>after she gets one load out of you, she flips you up
>throws your legs over her shoulders and starts pounding you through the mattress
>tells you to "sing for her"
>try to stifle your moans to spite her, but her sensitive hearing picks up every little noise you make
>forced to finish to the image of her stupid smug, sadistic grin
>flops on top of you after the deed, starts licking your face
>demands to know which one of you is stronger
>tell her she is
>her tail swishes the sheets back and forth
>demands to know who needs protecting

>tells you that you need her just as much as she needs you
>apologize and correct your answer

>tells you she's glad you "saw it her way"

>a year later, she has your first daughter
>blindness is no match for her maternal instinct
>laying in bed nursing your child
>asks what she looks like
>you tell her she's just as beautiful as her mother

>tells you that you're going to help her make another one that's just as kind as her father
