  1. >hellhound lost her sight in a fight
  2. >informed that she needs a seeing eye human
  3. >protests at every step of the process
  4. >day comes when she's supposed to be introduced to you
  5. >loudly complaining in the office that she doesn't need a human as you open the door
  6. >nose twitches as she picks up your scent, scoffs and sits their in sileince while counciler explains how this works
  7. >you live with her, help her get used to living without sight, help her with any errands etc.
  8. >drive her home, she's silent the whole way there
  9. >begin to set up in your new home
  10. >she's moping on the couch, but her ears are swiveling to follow you around the apartment
  11. >begin setting up your bed in a different room, swear you hear her sigh
  12. >tells you that you can go home, she's just find and she doesn't need you as you make dinner
  13. >only stops berating you as weak and useless when she's devouring the meal you cooked
  14. >she begins "watching" tv while you put the dishes into the dishwasher
  15. >some generic action movie
  16. >take a seat next to her, ask her if you need to describe what's happening
  17. >snorts and tells you that she's seen it a hundred times
  18. >as you watch the movie, you notice her head isn't facing the tv
  19. >she's looking at you, as if she's trying to see where you are
  20. >ask her if everything is alright
  21. >tells you to shut up and stop ruining the movie
  22.
  23. >begin to help rehabilitate her
  24. >taking her to the store, helping her get to her appointments, teaching her how to navigate with a cane
  25. >always grumbling about you being there or whatever you're "forcing" her to do
  26. >always does it anyways
  27. >learning quickly
  28. >loves going to the gym, she's used all the machines and racks enough times to operate them without vision
  29. >always staring at you when you get home
  30. >says she can't help it, she's blind
  31. >you know it's bullshit by the way her nose wiggles whenever you enter the room and her ears always snap to you
  32. >one day while you're watching tv with her, she asks you to describe yourself
  33. >doesn't say anything when you finish, goes to bed soon after
  34. >one day on the way back from the grocery store, another monster takes interest in you
  35. >too much interest
  36. >hellhound does her best to fight off the monster, but her skills aren't enough to compensate for her lack of sight
  37. >police arrive just in time to prevent you from being abducted
  38. >take hellhound home and patch her up
  39. >she breaks down as you apply the bandages, calls herself worthless
  40. >can't even protect a human
  41. >begins to sob about how she feels like a burden to you when she should be the one caring for you
  42. >reassure her that she doesn't have to be your guardian, you're here because you care
  43. >she's unconvinced, but settled down a little bit
  44. >snuggle with her on the couch to calm her down
  45. >out of nowhere, she asks to feel your face
  46. >allow her
  47. >her massive paws delicately run over your face while her sightless red eyes stare through you
  48. >the most intense look of concentration you've ever seen on her face as she tries to put the picture together in her mind
  49. >does it so long she falls asleep on top of you
  50.
  51. >the next day she's more composed
  52. >seems more determined
  53. >less griping and berating you
  54. >now singularly focused on regaining normalcy in her life
  55. >gets a brail keyboard and headphones so that she can begin to use the computer
  56. >enlists the help of a werebat neighbor to help her learn rudimentary echolocation
  57. >has you set up obstacle courses in the apartment parking lot for her to navigate
  58. >asks (demands) that you start letting her help around the kitchen
  59. >supervise her as she clumsily macerates her food with a knife and nearly dumps a pot of boiling water onto herself
  60. >keeps at it anyways
  61. >goes on walks to and from the grocery store, doctors office, gym, and park for practice navigating
  62. >asks for more protein heavy dishes, notice she's setting pr's more frequently at the gym
  63. >one day asks if you can help her run
  64. >wheeze along ahead of her as she jogs behind you
  65. >insists on running farther than you had ever run before, has to carry your flabby body back to the car
  66. >insufferably smug about this, reminds you that she isn't the only one who needs help
  67. >always on the internet at night for some reason after your habitual tv watching time together
  68. >whenever you approach her door, you always hear her use the voice command to close an internet tab before you open the door
  69. >refuses to say what she's doing, or even that she's doing anything when asked
  70. >one day, says she's going out to the grocery store
  71. >offer to go with her, she says she's going alone
  72. >more forceful than usual
  73. >tell her to be safe and to call you if she needs anything
  74. >night falls, no word from her
  75. >start to panic
  76. >get in your car, drive to the grocery store
  77. >hellhound is nowhere to be found
  78. >call her, straight to voicemail
  79. >panic more
  80. >start driving around aimlessly, calling her name
  81. >after an hour of searching, hear your name echo in the distance
  82. >break several traffic laws as you speed towards her voice
  83. >finally find her, illegally park the car and hug her
  84. >she threatens to beat you off with her cane
  85. >acts tough, but you swear you can feel her trembling
  86. >explains that she got lost, didn't realize her phone was dead when she left the house
  87. >ask how she got so lost when she had been to the grocery store so many times before
  88.
  89. >before she can answer, a hinezumi runs up the street
  90. >tells the hellhound she forgot something at the dojo
  91. >dojo?
  92. >hinezumi explains how she runs a martial arts dojo
  93. >notice that her milky eyes, put two and two together
  94. >hellhound's ears are folded back against her head, tail tucked between her legs
  95. >face is as red as a hellhounds face can get
  96. >hinezumi says that you must be the man the hellhound told her about
  97. >tells you that she has a lot of potential
  98. >wishes you goodnight
  99. >hellhound looks like she could die of embarrassment then and there
  100. >says nothing on the car ride home
  101. >neither do you
  102. >you're more than a little upset that she would try to navigate through unfamiliar and dangerous territory to hide something from you
  103. >when you get home she starts to cry
  104. >begs you not to be mad
  105. >tell her that what she did was stupid, if she wanted to go somewhere new she should have just asked for your help
  106. >insists that she thought she could do it and that she wanted to prove to herself that she could still go places on her own
  107. >ask why she wanted to go to the dojo all of a sudden
  108. >hellhound instantly clams up
  109. >threaten to go talk to the hinezumi yourself if she didn't tell you
  110. >she fidgets for a moment
  111. >mutters something unintelligible under her breath
  112. >ask her to repeat it
  113. >"To protect you"
  114. >your heart nearly breaks
  115. >hellhounds would be hellhounds after all
  116. >it must be hard for a hellhound to nearly have someone taken from them
  117. >one of the strongest species, and she couldn't even protect herself in that fight
  118. >ease up on her a little
  119. >tell her that it was a stupid move to try something like that, but that you thought the dojo would be a good confidence booster
  120. >she nods and does her best to look sorry
  121. >her wagging tail tells you that she's more happy than ashamed
  122. >begins to go to the dojo regularly
  123. >starts preparing meals by herself, uses brail cookbooks and text to speech software to get through the recipes
  124. >have to practice cooking on your own time to make sure she doesn't get better than you (you still have your pride, after all)
  125. >hellhound goes from beefy to shredded, shedding some of her pudge she had accumulated in the months following her loss of vision
  126.
  127. >starts to rely on you less and less
  128. >can get everywhere she would realistically ever want to go
  129. >can cook for herself, though she likes your food more
  130. >lack of sight no longer getting in the way of her hobbies, can lift, spar, read, and listen to her hearts content
  131. >find yourself bereft of things to do for her most days
  132. >choosing her outfit and helping her read her mail were some of the only things she needed you for
  133. >still drags you out for runs and lifts occasionally
  134. >says its to help you get in shape, but you know there's nothing she loves more in the world than to remind you how much stronger she was
  135. >inform the program of her progress
  136. >they're pleased to hear, tell you that you might be reassigned to a different girl soon
  137. >feel a little sad, but know she doesn't need you anymore
  138. >decide to just enjoy the time you have left
  139. >one day, hellhound demands you take her to a park
  140. >a big one, way out in the wilderness
  141. >tons of trails, nature, and scenic vistas
  142. >she wants to make it to the top of the mountain at the center of the park
  143. >agree, it wasn't as if you had anything better to do
  144. >take her
  145. >after what felt like an hour of her fussing over you, making sure you had enough layers and water for the hike, you head off
  146. >hellhound is taking up the rear while you lead the way
  147. >it's tough going, but all the exercise she had forced on you was paying off
  148. >chugging along towards the summit
  149. >hellhound is doing her best, but the uneven terrain is hard on her
  150. >more than once she slips and falls
  151. >never lets it stop her, at most she mutters a curse and continues
  152. >you suspect the hinezumi who ran the dojo taught her a thing or two about controlling her anger
  153. >dirt path gives way to rocks near the summit
  154. >have to clamber up on all fours to progress
  155. >the high altitude, heavy pack, and miles of hiking it took to get this far have taken their toll
  156. >flop down on a rock to catch your breath
  157. >hellhound is farther down the slope
  158. >her size makes it harder to find foot and handholds
  159. >watch as she accidentally dislodges a rock with her foot, sending it rolling down the mountain
  160. >get nervous
  161. >tell her that you should probably head back, not safe to progress any farther
  162. >hellhound sits there panting, looking at you with her blind eyes
  163. >turns her head
  164. >you don't know how, but she's looking up at the summit as if she can see it clear as day
  165. >tells you you're going up there
  166. >before you can protest, she scoops you up
  167. >demand she put you down
  168. >she tells you to shut up and stop squirming
  169. >proceeds to climb with only three limbs
  170. >somehow moving even faster with you in her arms
  171. >half an hour later, you're standing at the summit with her
  172. >she sets you down, throws her head back and howls
  173. >picks you back up and kisses you
  174. >her eyes shoot open, she sets you back down and apologizes profusely
  175. >blames it on adrenaline and the thin air
  176. >you just nod your head, too dazed from the power of the smooch
  177. >she sits down next to you
  178. >cuddles up to you to "protect you from the cold" (you were still sweating)
  179. >let her carry you back down the mountain most of the way
  180. >her tail is going ballistic the whole time
  181. >smuggest she's ever been that night when she regales you (again) of how much you needed her that day
  182. >tell her to shut up and get you another icepack for your aching thighs
  183.
  184. >get a letter one day
  185. >the agency you work for has found a new girl for you to rehabilitate
  186. >expected to move into her home a month from now
  187. >you knew this day would come
  188. >its fine, hellhound doesn't need you anymore
  189. >and you'll be sure to keep in touch
  190. >not sure how to break the news to hellhound
  191. >don't know how she'll take it
  192. >slowly start packing up your things over the course of a few days
  193. >at first hellhound doesn't seem to notice
  194. >then she remarks about how quiet you've been the past few days
  195. >asks if something is bothering you
  196. >reassure her that everything is fine
  197. >she doesn't buy it
  198. >the levy breaks when she notices the layout of your room start to change
  199. >went into your room and clicked her tongue a few times to trigger her echolocation
  200. >stormed back out when she senses that things aren't where they're supposed to be, and there's the smell of cardboard boxes everywhere
  201. >demands to know what's going on
  202. >inform her that you've been reassigned
  203. >her face goes blank
  204. >she screams at you for not telling her
  205. >tells you you can't leave, that she needs you
  206. >starts to cry
  207. >runs to her room and locks herself in before you can console her
  208. >doesn't come out for dinner
  209. >days pass, don't see hellhound at all
  210. >you can tell that she's been in and out of the house, and that she's made herself food
  211. >but the most you hear from her is her door slamming as you enter the apartment
  212. >feel awful
  213. >reason that she was just upset about losing a friend, and that you should try to do your job like normal until your last day
  214. >get a letter in the mail from your agency
  215. >hellhound has requested a formal appeal for independent living
  216. >wat
  217. >the two ways that you can be dismissed from a girl were you deciding that she was ready to live on her own, or by the girl requesting a test to prove that she could live independently
  218. >date was in a few days
  219. >your gut twists when you realize that she hates you so much she WANTS you to leave now
  220. >willing to jump though bureaucratic hoops just to kick you out the door a few days earlier
  221. >still refuses to interact with you until the day of the test
  222. >hellhound silent the whole ride to the testing center
  223. >gets out of the car
  224. >faceplants on the curb
  225. >monsters hurry over to see if she's alright
  226. >hellhound assures them that she's fine
  227. >she must really be out of it to make such an amateur mistake
  228. >you'd seen her mount curbs hundreds of times without issue
  229. >open the door for her out of courtesy
  230. >runs into the doorframe
  231. >ask her if she's okay
  232. >tells you she's fine
  233. >you direct her to a chair and go to inform the receptionist that hellhound is ready for her test
  234. >she misses the chair and falls onto the floor
  235. >succubus running the test steps out with her clipboard just in time to see you picking hellhound up off the floor
  236. >goes over the test with her
  237. >hellhound facing off to the side the whole time
  238. >first test: navigating a stretch of fake street
  239. >hellhound weaves back and forth all over the place
  240. >runs into a lamppost and off the curb into the street
  241. >succubus ends the test when she practically tackles a trashcan
  242. >you can't believe your eyes
  243. >how could she have regressed this much?
  244. >test two: household living
  245. >ruins the meal she's instructed to cook
  246. >gets lost in the model apartment
  247. >sets things down where they'll pose a fire hazard
  248. >can't work her own phone when instructed to call the police in case of an emergency
  249. >succubus pulls you aside
  250. >asks why the hell you would say that she didn't need you anymore when she was one of the worst cases the agency had ever seen
  251. >you try to sputter out an explanation
  252. >succubus cuts you off, tells you that if you don't get your act together that you'll be fired
  253. >politely informs the hellhound that she isn't quite ready to live alone
  254. >"Darn."
  255. >hellhound's tail is wagging like mad
  256. >that conniving bitch...
  257. >gets back into the car (without issue this time)
  258. >smugly tells you that it looks like you'll be staying with her a bit longer
  259. >offers to help you unpack everything
  260. >you want to be mad at her, but in truth, you're just as happy that you get to stay with her
  261. >tell her to shut up
  262. >help her put some bandages on her scraped face when you get home
  263.
  264. >hellhound now living life to the max
  265. >nothing hinders her anymore
  266. >picks up new things quickly
  267. >no longer mopey
  268. >outgoing and boisterous, as a hellhound should be
  269. >still needs you to dress her though
  270. >you suspect that she would need your help for this even if she still had her sight
  271. >these days its her dragging you places
  272. >always excited to show you something new
  273. >new place, new thing, new trick
  274. >you're just glad to be there with her
  275. >at the gym one day
  276. >hellhound is on the bench pushin pl8s while you're on a rowing machine
  277. >shadow looms over you
  278. >look over your shoulder
  279. >it's an amazon
  280. >says hello, that she's new in town and getting to know some of the people at her new gym
  281. >introduce yourself
  282. >chat with her for a bit
  283. >she asks what you do for a living, tell her that you help the blind
  284. >see a glint in her eyes
  285. >she tells you that you're a kind person to care for others like that
  286. >oh no
  287. >yoinks you off the rowing machine
  288. >tells you that she'll take good care of you if you take good care of her
  289. >whispers how criminal it is that a sweet boy like yourself hasn't been claimed yet
  290. >cry out when she squeezes you
  291. >hear the sound of a bar clatter to the floor
  292. >hellhound is sprinting towards you
  293. >amazon throws you aside
  294. >the two begin slugging it out in the middle of the gym
  295. >amazon clearly has fighitng experience, but so does hellhound
  296. >all those days training with that blind hinezumi paying off
  297. >hellhound takes some bad hits, but gives back what she takes twofold
  298. >knocks the amazon out with a nasty roundhouse kick
  299. >stands there panting for a few seconds
  300. >whips around to you cowering behind her
  301. >crazed look in her non-functional eyes
  302. >throws you over her shoulder and sprints out of the gym towards home
  303. >practically kicks down the door
  304. >skids into her room, throws you onto the bed
  305. >pounces on you and mashes her face into yours
  306. >after a few minutes, she seems to sober up
  307. >begins to ask for your consent
  308. >tell her not to hold back
  309. >tears off your pants
  310. >tries to suck you off, fails to get it into her mouth the first few times
  311. >laugh as she nudges your junk around with her nose
  312. >stop laughing when she starts sucking your soul out of your nuts
  313. >after she gets one load out of you, she flips you up
  314. >throws your legs over her shoulders and starts pounding you through the mattress
  315. >tells you to "sing for her"
  316. >try to stifle your moans to spite her, but her sensitive hearing picks up every little noise you make
  317. >forced to finish to the image of her stupid smug, sadistic grin
  318. >flops on top of you after the deed, starts licking your face
  319. >demands to know which one of you is stronger
  320. >tell her she is
  321. >her tail swishes the sheets back and forth
  322. >demands to know who needs protecting
  323. >tell her you do
  324. >demands to know who needs who more
  325. >tell her she does
  326. >hellhound pouts
  327. >tells you that you need her just as much as she needs you
  328. >apologize and correct your answer
  329. >kisses you on your forehead
  330. >tells you she's glad you "saw it her way"
  331.
  332. >a year later, she has your first daughter
  333. >blindness is no match for her maternal instinct
  334. >laying in bed nursing your child
  335. >asks what she looks like
  336. >you tell her she's just as beautiful as her mother
  337. >hellhound now extra smug
  338. >tells you that you're going to help her make another one that's just as kind as her father
  339. >live happily ever after with your hellhound family
  340.
