- Hello Anwonu,
- I recently found an exploit in LBW that would be of some use to a speedrunner. I enjoy watching speedruns from time to time, though I have not attempted any speedruns myself. Best to leave that to the professionals.
- I went looking for whoever held the world record for any% LBW once I found this glitch, and you came up as the record holder. I searched in your record speedrun video for my exploit, and I did not see you use it. This exploit is not a major one, but it is useful nonetheless.
- The nature of the glitch is this:
- In the Skull Woods dungeon, in the room with the piece of Master Ore, there is a puzzle in which you must put two orbs into two slots. One of the orbs is very easy to get, and the other must be carried over from the other end of the room. I saw in your run that you did carry the orb all the way from the other end of the room, although you did use the hookshot to save time. Placing the two orbs in their pedestals allows the dungeon's boss key to be acquired.
- Now, in my normal playthrough, I discovered that you could use only ONE orb to unlock BOTH of the pedestals.
- You see, when you throw the orb into the pedestal, there's a second or two where an animation plays of the orb flying into the pedestal and activating it. A moment later, the orb is secured in the pedestal and is unreachable. Now, during this second or two, the orb still exists in the game data outside of the pedestal, as though you simply threw it at a wall, The orb turns invisible, and can be picked up, stopping the animation. And if you pick up the orb right after the pedestal is activated, before the orb becomes part of the pedestal, you can carry it around and throw it into the other pedestal, activating them both.
- I really hope that wasn't too hard to understand. Let me break down what I was doing for you.
- Walk up to pedestal > look directly at pedestal so that the invisible orb bounces back to me > throw orb into pedestal > wait few milliseconds > press A to pick up invisible orb
- I would show you a video of me attempting this, but I haven't got a 3DS capture card, and I don't want to send you a potato-quality video using a camera.
- Hope this is useful for you. If you need me to explain anything a little more thoroughly, let me know.
- PS: This glitch can also be used in the Lorule Castle dungeon, in the room with a similar puzzle.
