  1. reminder: `(my party and I are morons)`
  2. me: dwarven Cleric
  3. rest of party: level 4 tiefling Rogue, aasimar Paladin, half-elf Monk, human Warlock, and... human Ranger, I think
  4. short backstory: exploring dwarven ruins in a mountain, looting on behalf of a wizard's tower
  5. beat up the drow guarding the entrance, moving deeper into the ruins
  6. come across a corridor with a way forward, but also six side corridors (three on each side)
  7. there's a turn after twenty feet or so, not sure what's at the end
  8. **In Our Infinite Wisdom No. 1**: "let's search down a corridor, there's probably something valuable"
  9. **In Our Infinite Wisdom No. 2**, immediately after: "let's send a single person down a corridor first"
  10. Rogue volunteers, the dm sits there for a moment then takes her outside
  11. immediate worry, but we try not to metagame too much when they come back in
  12. Rogue opens her mouth, personality shift from apathetic/snarky to outright angry/hostile
  13. refuses to tell us what she found back there
  14. **In Our Infinite Wisdom No. 3**: "dang that's crazy, let's do it again"
  15. Ranger volunteers this time, goes down a different corridor
  16. another outside meeting with the DM
  17. comes back with another major personality change (forceful -> very passive I believe)
  18. says that around the turn is a series of runes that he couldn't read, doesn't believe he's acting different
  19. we send him down another corridor, I think to see if there was treasure
  20. personality changes again (to jealous?)
  21. **In Our Infinite Wisdom No. 4**: "so if we walk down the corridor backwards we can get the treasure without looking at the Brown Note" (yes we still believed there was treasure)
  22. reason that since I'm a dwarf I may be able to figure stuff out about the runes even if I accidentally see them
  23. as I prep to go down one of the unexplored corridors, Paladin and Monk decide to go down one together at the same time (ended up being a good idea but seemed stupid at the time)
  24. DM takes me outside, I go down the corridor and turn to find a door
  25. behind it lies a small brain-like creature
  26. after some flailing, my brain is devoured
  27. swap with Paladin and Monk, Rogue (with DM approval) takes control of the session inside to run the very short combat of Rogue, Ranger, and the intellect devourer Ranger put in his bag against the lone Warlock outside
  28. Paladin and Monk 2v1 the devourer without too much trouble, run out to find four smirking abberations
  29. they get the hell out of dodge (p sure Paladin identified the intellect devourer and knew that there was no saving us)
  30.
  31. spawned plenty of "our brains couldn't be devoured bc we had no brains to begin with"
  32. also was thinking about why we people didn't run/scream and it dawned on me that I'm p sure there were screams we ignored so file that under **In Our Infinite Wisdom No. 5**
