  1. >You are Twilight sparkle, and it has been far too long for the wait to be any kind of comfortable.
  2. >After getting out of the catacombs, informing your friends about your plans, and meeting with the princess, you were asked to wait outside the throne room while the two princesses tried to understand what had happened, and if there was anything that could be done.
  3. >It has been at least four hours, and only you and Fluttershy are still hanging around outside the door. AppleJack, Rainbow Dash, and pinkie Pie had to get back to their jobs by tomorrow, and need to head back on the train. Rarity had stayed with the two of you in Canterlot, but was off at the moment, getting you all some food for while you wait.
  4. >How generous of her to offer.
  5. >Fluttershy woke up a few hours ago, with no recollection of going into the catacombs. She said she felt fine, and when she found out something might have happened to Anon, she hopped out of the hospital bed she was occupying, and bolted for the castle.
  6. >She says that Angel bunny will take care for the animals if she's not back by tomorrow.
  7. >You never particularly liked that bunny.
  8. >He was so rude.
  9. >But you suppose if he can actually fill in for Fluttershy on occasion, then she has reason to keep him around.
  10. >This wait is driving you crazy, and you look it as well, your mane has grown unkempt from all the rolling about you've been doing, you've been sweating, your knees ache from the pacing. It's horrible. And Celestia knows rarity will have some words for you upon her return.
  11. >You decide that you'll risk it, and put your ear up to the door, from inside you can hear voices.
  12. >They belong to the princesses, but you can't quite make out whatever it is they're saying.
  13. >There are also the half whispers that you heard when approaching the lantern.
  14. >They are asking you to head inside, and lend a voice of reason to the bickering siblings.
  15. >You decide you've been waiting long enough, and would like some answers.
  16. 1/?
  17.
  18. >You respectfully throw open the door leading into the throne room, and are greeted by the sight of the two princesses in the middle of what looks like pretty serious staring contest.
  19. >It appears that they've both noticed you, but neither takes their eye off the other.
  20. So, erm… What exactly am I looking at right now?
  21. >They both spare you a glance, and begin sweating profusely.
  22. >The voice of Anonymous begins speaking in your mind.
  23. >"They are attempting to decide who will get to use me first."
  24. >You look around, for the source of his voice, wondering if there can be a source when it came form inside your head.
  25. >"The lantern!"
  26. >Your eyes snap to the glowing blue relic, and note that the formerly pure blue fire is now burning with a distinct green at it's center.
  27. >The intrusive voice also no longer carries such a terrible resonance
  28. >"Yes, it's me, anon, formerly so sexy, so manly, so tangible. Reduced to a damn flame. Maybe there's some great philosophy to be found in that. Regardless, it's me. Talk, and I'll hear you."
  29. >Well it definitely sounds like Anon, albeit, a rather angry anon.
  30. Well, um, where should I start? Ooh, how do I know you're the real Anon?
  31. >"Excellent question! And one the two princesses over there neglected to ask at all."
  32. >The two princesses in question are still staring at each other, but Celestia has a distinctly embarrassed blush to her cheeks at being made a fool in front of her pupil.
  33. >"While I can't deny that this accursed lamp isn't without it's share of dubious tricks, I can offer to answer three questions you ask me. What you ask, and how that tells you if it's me or not will be entirely up to you."
  34. >Three questions to tell if it's the real Anon.
  35. "You won't lie?"
  36. >"Twi, we both know that the answer to that question is useless, because if i'm telling a lie and i say i'm not then it's no different. I'm feeling generous right now, so i won't count that as one of your questions."
  37. 2/?
  38.
  39. >Well he's got you there. And a good thing he didn't count that, the question slipped out before you could tell yourself how pointless it was. Three questions. Three questions. Hmm…
  40. >Just then, the door to the room opens, and as you look to se who's come barging in, a yellow and pink blur nearly knocks you over.
  41. >"Where is he? I can hear him form out there! Is he Ok? What happened to him? Is it My fault?"
  42. >She has tears in her eyes, and before you can say anything to console her, You hear Anon respond.
  43. >"Fluttershy, I'm here in the fire, I am OK, kinda, and no what happened wasn't your fault (for once).
  44. >She twists her head around at such a speed, that it frightens you, and looks at the glowing green/blue lantern as though it had just spoken to her. Which it had.
  45. >"Wha-Wha-Wha?"
  46. >She swoons and leaves the world of the conscious for that of the sleeping.
  47. >She asked four questions, and only got three answers.
  48. >Before you can stop yourself, your curiosity compels you to ask:
  49. Fluttershy asked four questions, and you answered three, but you skipped one in the logical order. Why?
  50. >"An excellent waste of a question! I skipped over her question of what happened to me, because i honestly have no idea what happened to me. All i remember is a feeling of lethargy, a voice, and a coldness that engulfed my entire body. Then I woke up, and the sisters over there were bickering amongst themselves, and i got their attention. They immediately began staring at each other, and after about half an hour i finally asked them what the hell they were doing."
  51. >It wasn't too much of a waste, you think, because at least now you know that The princesses haven't asked their questions yet, and that Anon isn't who you need to be talking to in regards to what's happened.
  52. 3/?
  53.
  54. >"Two more questions Miss Sparkle. Take your time, it's not like I have anywhere i can be aside from here."
  55. >What can you ask him that you know the answer to? Nothing so easy as his name, or his friends names, for all you know whatever this thing is could have hi-jacked his memories.
  56. >"Actually, maybe consider hurrying up, the other guy is starting to stir, and i'm not sure what'll happen to me when he wakes."
  57. >There is a tone of uncertainty in his voice, and it unnerves you to hear your normally fairly stoic friend shaken so.
  58. What do you mean the other guy?
  59. >Drat! Another wasted question.
  60. >"When I "woke" up it felt like there was something else slithering around in here beside me. Wherever here is. It felt strong, but i don't think it was expecting me, felt like it was disappointed when it was "looking" at me. Definitely felt unfriendly though. If it comes "out" I'd say be careful, and watch what you say or promise."
  61. >Oh celestia, you've only got one question left, gotta make it count! But How?!
  62. >The answer hits you like a bolt from the blue.
  63. What's your fetish?
  64. >Fluttershy wakes up at this, instantly alert, and ready to hear the answer.
  65. >"I refuse to answer that."
  66. >Good ol' Anon.
  67. >You believe him, and you've still got a question to be answered, so you try to think of something that maybe will help.
  68. >Fluttershy speaks up.
  69. >"Anon, why won't you love me?"
  70. >Anon looks to you, likely waiting for permission to answer her in your place.
  71. >You can think of no better question, and are honestly curious as well, so you nod your head in affirmation.
  72. 4/?
  73.
  74. >"That is a difficult question to answer, because i don't really dislike you Fluttershy, I consider you a friend. But you tend to come on a little strong, if you understand what I'm saying. You're sorta rapey. And that's no good. See I do love you, all of you actually, but not in the same way. For you Fluttershy, I love you as a friend, and that's probably where the love will stay."
  75. >She looks down at what anon has said, disappointed to hear it. the she perks up, looking hopeful once again.
  76. >"Y-You said probably, not definitely. That means I still have a chance!"
  77. >She trots happily out of the room, as Anon tries to get her attention to correct himself.
  78. >"No, that's not what I- *door slams* *Anon sighs* Damnit"
  79. >Celestia Blinks.
  80. >"HUZZAH! WE ARE VICTORIOUS OVER YOU SISTER!"
  81. >Celestia hangs her head in shame.
  82. >"SAY IT DEAREST SISTER, TELL US WHAT HAS TRANSGRESSED YET AGAIN IN THSI CASTLE!"
  83. >Celestia glares at her sister, before taking a deep breath, and saying:
  84. >"Luna is victorious over Celestia. The moon is prettier than the sun. I am so jealous. Luna is so cool. Yeah."
  85. >You can't help but chuckle at how deadpan Princess Celestia is saying all of this, and how smug Princess Luna is looking as she humiliates her sister.
  86. >"ACCEPTABLE, NOW TO CLAIM OUR REWARD FROM FAIR ANONYMOUS."
  87. >Luna clears her throat, and walks over to the glowing blue lantern.
  88. 5/?
  89.
  90. >"Anonymous, we would ask of thee, three questions as we've heard The element of Magic has done before us."
  91. >A voice echoes soundlessly throughout the room, promising anything and everything for a tribute of blood. The princess' eyes lose their focus as you see her whisper her hearts desires to the lantern.
  92. >Your body feels heavy, and your mind sluggish, as you try and call forth a bolt to knock Luna into her senses. She will forgive you, you are sure. But your instincts are telling you that you can't let anyone touch the fire.
  93. >You won't make it.
  94. >Celestia seems to be immobile as well.
  95. >This is bad.
  96. >The door swings open, and in steps Rarity, with a look of confusion upon her face.
  97. >She sees you basically glued to the floor, the Princess of the sun unconscious, and The princess of the Night about to stick her hoof in the fire, and decide to forgo questions.
  98. >She fires a bolt which slaps Luna's hoof away.
  99. >The shock seems to bring her back to her senses, and in her moment of clarity, she throws down the lantern, reducing the flame to a mere spark.
  100. >This frees your body and mind, as well as Celestia's and in amount the two of you are checking on Luna for injuries.
  101. >Rarity begins apologizing furiously and Luna quickly forgives her.
  102. >The lantern's voice sounds as though it is far off, weakened and in pain, before falling silent.
  103. >The blue flame stays weak, as though a single gust could put it out.
  104. >You panic, Anon is still in there! Hopefully he's alright.
  105. Anon!
  106. >Luna and Celestia join you in calling out for your friend.
  107. >"Anon!" *3
