 ↝ luda grew up in jeju as the second child to her parents. her parents hadn't been expecting a second child, but luda was a pleasant surprise for the whole family. her parents had led busy lives before luda was born, and often left her older brother, jumin in the care of nannies and daycare centres. however, after luda was born, her mother decided she had to put a stop to it, and quit her job working as a secretary to become a stay at home mother and look after her two children. her father, who was a successful lawyer, kept his job, in charge of bringing in enough money to sustain the small family on his own. however, he made it clear that he was going to build a stable relationship with both of his children, spending as much time as he could with both luda and jumin while he wasn't busy at work. luda grew up in a healthy family environment, surrounded by love from both of her parents, which continued all throughout her life, even after she began attending school. on her first day of school, she met the boy who would later become her best friend, through her mother, who'd been keen to make sure she became friends with the boy, having known his mother from high school herself. however, luda's perfect family life crumbled when she was eleven, as her mother and father began to argue a lot, and her father would often spend a lot of time at work, coming home later and leaving earlier. this carried on for six months until a very heated argument broke out between both of her parents, and luda remembers hiding in her bedroom with her brother, trying to block out the shouts. a week later, her parents filed for a divorce, which completely split the family up. her parents went to court, both wanted to obtain custody over both luda and jumin, and eventually it came to the conclusion that her parents would share custody. luda spends most of her time living with her mother during the week, and then with her father on the weekends and during holidays. she is still rather close with her father, despite the break up, but their original inseparable relationship suffered a lot because of the divorce.

 ↝ they met on the first day of kindergarten, when their mothers made them walk together. both of them were next door neighbours, and once their mother's found out that they were the same age and going to the same school, they were keen to make sure both of them became fast friends. at first, he didn't want to be her friend, simply because he was a rebellious toddler, and usually did the opposite of what his mother said. luda herself was a shy little girl, and instead tried to hide behind her mother's leg. they don't really know what changed in his head to suddenly decide that he wanted to be friends with her, but within minutes he was toddling over to her and trying to begin a cute conversation about the sandcastle he'd built at the park the day before. luda was still somewhat shy, but he basically declared himself her best friend, and was there all throughout kindergarten and the rest of primary school to shoo away the bullies and protect his best friend.
