- The deserts of Revia are a treacherous land. There are many species filling it, sometimes above ground, looking for a quick hunt, or even simply shelter, and other times, beneath the sands. According to some, there are caverns, expansive, filled with terrifying creatures and ancient mysteries of all sorts. But none has ever visited them in the modern ages. There are tales however, of ancient buildings, temples or similar structures built there.
- For what reason... Nobody knows. But recent findings have brought these matters to a different light. Less people are questioning the presence of leftovers of the more ancient civilizations beneath the shifting sands nowadays, especially due to the finding of a certain well, leading to the deep crevices of the earth. It is thus, that the Age of Exploration begun, for the Revian land, as well as the Hole territory. But how far and how deep will this exploration lead?
- Needless to say, Vel Irsos, an important Revian city has allowed one of its larger buildings to serve as a hall, for the display of whatever archeological findings presented during this time, and as well as a gathering place, for the seekers to share their findings, and organize parties or take another look over their maps. Scholars are often invited to translate the ancient Revian texts. Reptile guides too, and at times, even Order members.
- Something similar has happened with a layer of one of the Hole cities, allowing explorers to gather there. The reason is simple, the volcanic tremors of Mount Arkanaan, have shook up several sites in both nations. Mount Arkanaan is a large volcano, recently activated, that lies in the border between the Hole and Revia. Its surging has thus, heralded the above (and below) mentioned developments.
- The reptiles in particular, revere it as the dwelling of a primal spirit, Arkanaan, the Origin Fire. Arkanaan is important to them, due to how he interacts with their Primal Weavers, leader of the reptile society in Revia. The Hole ones however see the mountain with a sense of doubt, and fear. Revian exploration is beginning to uncover in the meanwhile, ancient texts, describing a secret history, of the ground beneath their feet.
- -------|-------
- The Primal Weavers are the sorcerers of the Revian reptile kin. Mostly humanoid, but some naga-like ones existing as well, their job, and magic comes from the balancing of three primal spirits, which have been bound into their places, by mystical chains, together with their most loyal servants. They are always at a risk, of angering one spirit, and thus, losing their ability to cast, but their power comes from sources ancient and untold, thus, making them very powerful. These three spirits at hand, are:
- Arkanaan, the Origin Fire. A fiery being, who rose from an ancient volcano. At its deep core, an enormous amount of mana had leaked, merging with the fire, and thus, giving Arkanaan, the former spirit of the volcano, untold power. At that age, when humans still struggled with the forces of nature unsuccessfully, Arkanaan provided them with fire, both to light their homes, and to cleanse the curses and darkness from their midst. But his outbursts and explosions were a sign of his fickle temper. He was known to wield some sort of flail, with his flame, burning at its end, to cleanse the darkness of the silence wherever he went.
- Theleran, the Thundering. The lord of storms, which were formed atop the main continent, and ravaged it for months. It was a many times told tale, that during the winters of the ancient days, there would always be storms, with thunder, rain and strong wings. Theleran presides over all of these elements, the rain, the cold, harsh winds, as well as the powerful lightning. It is believed however, his thunder striking onto various objects or minerals , gave them magical properties. Humans collected these and made the first enchanted weapons.
- Merissa, the Lady of the Deep. In the ancient days, the ravaging storms, assaults from the dark of the silence and the hungry beasts, dwelling the land, were not the only threat. The sea oft flooded, and the lands were brought to become uninhabitable, due to the threat of the waters. It was Merissa, a common merfolk lady, who explored the vast depths, and found an ancient artifact of untold power, and ascended to the stature of a primal spirit. She calmed the seas, and let the humans reclaim the lands. Her power was however, as its core the ability to control the ancient, dark waters of the abyss.
- Primal Weavers must make sure to call onto the power of these spirits accordingly. All three have been bound to their dwellings, in the depths, the burning core, or the cloud throne, by chains, that have been permeated by the ancient power of the ones they bind. These chains form complex systems, and they reach into our world. A Primal Weaver must first of all, become aware of these chains. Once their sight is attuned, they can attempt to tug at the chains.
- This process requires a lot of mental focus, but little mana or energy. There is a fickle balance, that one chain is not pulled too much to call the attention of a servant, or worst, the spirit itself. The three have a form of rivalry between one another for this very reason. The chains must be pulled, to draw onto the power of one, two or even the three spirits just enough as not to awaken them.
- A servant of the spirits can be summoned by pulling sufficiently onto a single chain. One must make sure however, that there are no other chains nearby or a catastrophe might happen, for the weaver. If two servants are summoned at once, they might merge. But this is a dangerous tactic, as it may as well destroy the servants, which would notify the more high tier ones of the treachery.

- The Dragon's Horde.
- A group of reptiles in the Hole, has recently surged, and sprung into action. Their leader is a mysterious woman, which claims to be a half dragon, born of one of the last surviving members of the species, and a human noble. Coming into the Hole territories, with as much funds as she could, she gained a strong following, and is now leading the many raids, against both, the cursed armies of soulfire fiends, and the Order units in the area.
- Explorers are advised not to fight them, and civilians are advised to always move in groups escorted by Order members of local authorities. They can be told apart by the presence of their black armor, members mostly being reptiles, as well as dsrk green imagery.
- -------|-------
- The Red Serpent's Order.
- A group of Dragon Knights has recently defected the order, and have pledged loyalty under a certain Primal Weaver, known simply aa the Red Serpent. His dwelling is very deep into the desert, thus, striking into the core of this group has been significantly difficult, for any interested parties. The Knights belonging to this order use a corrupted version of Soulfire, boosted by the powers and energies of Arkanaan himself.
- While there won't be many of them sighted, a party lead by one can become dangerous, as magic would be, largely ineffective, and the malicious regeneration of the ancient spirits fire can keep even the weakest of foes alive, for times longer than you would expect. They usually appear near the discovered ruins, so explorers are the most likely to run into them!
- -------|-------
- Ancient guardians.
- The temples and caverns beneath the ground are by no means safe on their own, on either side. Elementals, angered, and fierce dwell the depths beneath Arkanaan's mountain. Traps are less common, but the mines built there in the old days are told to have several... Nasty surprises. So are nature's own defense mechanisms, poisonous gases, lava pools and... You get it.
- The ones in Revia are more on the artificial and human side. The passages and chambers are dangerous on their own, their age making it likely for an unexpected collapse, but the traps tend to be a hindrance as well. One might assume some of them have suffered from age as well, and it is true. But they are so plentiful, this will not serve as much of a help. But it might still save you so... Who knows! Monstrosities include giant scorpions, scarabs or whatnot. Undead too!
