What is backseating?

Backseating is anything that serves to guide me toward or away from something I don't know about.

It can range from lightly nudging me towards a secret, to overtly telling me what to do, to feigning ignorance and asking loaded questions, to simply typing out what you're thinking in the moment.

Backseating doesn't have to be intentional, and probably isn't most of the time. I understand that folks are passionate about their favorite game, and can't help themselves sometimes, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating to deal with.

Obviously, if you know the answer already, don't tell me what it is. But if you don't know the answer, don't start randomly guessing either, since I can't know if it's a spoiler or not. If I get truly desperate, I'll ask explicitly for opinions, but that's very, very rare. Until then, let me make my own decisions, even if they're bad ones. I guarantee the stream will be more enjoyable for everyone that way. Failure can be, and often is, fun.

IN GENERAL, consider how your words will influence my choices. If it feels like you're saying too much, you probably are. Keep that stuff to yourself, and don't be surprised if your messages get deleted just to be safe. It's nothing personal, but if you keep doing it, you'll risk a timeout or even a ban. Learn to take the L and move on.
