- Chapter Two : A Change of Mind
- It had been about seven minutes of nothing before she broke the silent night. "So what's your story or are you to scared of me to talk." Half of the vodka was gone and she didn't seem so scary, in fact one could say she looked beautiful. "Although I am a paladin I never fought any monsters. Though I always saw a fight between a paladin and one in all my schools, the paladins almost always lost, and my father against my mother. One thing about my father, who is always changing jobs, is that he has no time for his son. So I never really learned why I should hate monsters. My whole attitude to them was one of a cursed curiosity. I never could get close to one out of fear of what my father would do, but never keeping too far away from them either. I guess you could call it stalking. My Mom on the other hand was a different story, always drinking, smoking, and watching what ever was on. As long as I didn't try to pull her away from the TV I was okay around her."
- She looked at me and gave a slight nod. "Sounds shitty, but I kinda know where you are coming from. I mean a dragon who can't fly?" She took a shot of her glass handed it over to me. As I filled it up she grabbed it and drowned another shot. "Fuck, I was always on the bottom of the pecking list." She gripped down harder until the glass shattered in her claw. There was no blood, her scales were to thick. I watched her for second before I moved closer to see. "Fuck." She looked at her claw then up to me. "I am fine." She simply reached over and took the whole bottle and started drinking from it. By this point I was pass a point I have never been. With out thinking I reach over to grab the bottle. "Hay, i was still drinking that." She looked at me like I just called her a freak. "Well look at the big bad Paladin here, thinks he can take on a dragon?" I sat there for a second then recoiled back into my place. She rolled he eyes and pressed the bottle into my chest. The scale mail under my jacket rippled and rang.
