  9. The primary adversary of the series are the Oil Court, a collective of disembodied vampires who died in the collision of the three planes, but imbued the soil of the world with their evil essence, and can use connections to dirt to grant necromancers immense power. The term ‘Dirteater’ refers to necromancers who ritually eat soil to gain incredible finesse of control over life and death, but also lose the ability to reincarnate. Some escape this by becoming liches, and these liches serve as the senior lieutenants of the Oil Court.

  11. The major cities are all surrounded by rings of stone, and connected by enormous magic stone bridges that allow for people to bypass the treacherous farmland below. Being a farmer is dangerous and requires a degree of self-defense skill.

  14. Paladins, Clerics, and Priests have different expressions of power under their patron deities. For humans, Paladins rest in the arms of their patron angels in sleep, Clerics hold extensive discussions with their patron angels and can ask questions, and Priests can channel knowledge from their patrons into petitioners with sex or lengthy rituals, unencumbered by misinterpretation. They can also cure the Oil.
  15. When Priests sleep, they visit a place inside the walls that Paladin and Cleric dreamers must stay outside. It feels exactly the same, with one exception: shadow is silence, and so the darker it is in the spot where the dreaming mind stands, the harder it is to hear anything.

  20. The Dirteaters are what's left after the Court of Oil's taint consumes a person's soul, and rips it in half. The body gets left behind and filled with dirt tainted by more Dirteater Curse, and it attacks the Bulwark cities mindlessly, while the soul gets transported outside the Walls in the afterlife and form up into the Court's remote-controlled army, trying to bust down the wall and taint the souls inside. When angels aren't tending to the minds of their partners, they're fighting back the Dirteater souls outside and trying to find a cure.
