  10. >Burrowing: Diamond dogs can dig tunnels and holes with ease, setting traps, moving unseen and fleeing in unexpected directions.
  11. >Sound Hound: Passive; Intelligent canines have to put up with so much. However there are some perks to being a diamond dog. While heightened hearing can be annoying at times (you know way more than a dog your age should) with a bit of concentration and focus, it’s a very nifty thing. You can listen on whispers and distant conversations with ease; your ungulate friends can’t keep a secret from you. Allies that know that you can do this can communicate with you in confidence escaping the notice of others (except other diamond dogs of course). Also when an enemy engages combat, for the first turn any attack targeting you hits on a DC+2 (DC+1 for stealth attacks and ambushes). You are also unaffected by light-level.
  12. >Portal: recharge 3 after portal ends, spell; Open up a portal to any visible location for 3 rounds before closing. The portal will push back anyone and anything near it when created. Passing through the portal is a free action. Limit of one portal per character at any time.
  13. >Astral Projection: spell; You project your spirit, leaving your physical body behind as you send yourself to a distant location. While projecting, your body is unconscious and immobile, and you are unaware of anything that happens to it unless you are in its vicinity. Your spirit is intangible and invisible, but can still be detected by magic or other spirits, and it cannot manipulate or pass through physical objects. Wherever your spirit travels, you can hear and see everything around you in the physical world. Returning to your physical body is automatic.
  14. >Magic Bolt: recharge 2, spell, ranged; Fire a volatile bolt of magic. Roll two dice and use the higher roll for results. If one of the dice is a crit fail, then the spell crit fails regardless of the other roll.
  15. >Enhancement: recharge 1, spell; You focus arcane energy to mark an ally or yourself, increasing their magical potency. They receive one weapon tag of your choice, chosen on cast of Enhancement, for the next 3 turns, and the tag applies to all their spells instead of their weapon skills.

  18. >Ward: spell, recharge 2; Eskain conjures a magical seal around a target of his choosing, absorbing damage dealt to them on that turn. The spell is canceled and the recharge lowered by 1 if the target would take enough damage to go helpless, or be destroyed in the case of an inanimate object.

  21. >Prestidigitation: Eskain can perform a variety of minor magical tricks, such as, but not limited to: creating instant and harmless effects such as sparks or musical notes, lighting and snuffing out candles, heating and cooling down things by touching them, and conjuring very small, non-specific items a la Hat Magic. Failure can have unpredictable consequences, albeit harmless.

  37. Appearance:
  38. Eskain has a lean build, with mottled white and light brown fur. He has sharp orange eyes and a long, angular snout, with thick black whiskers that droop down like a mustache.

  40. Background:
  41. Eskain is a young and ambitious Diamond Dog sorcerer. Born to a wealthy family, he proved himself to have a talent for magic at a young age, being able to channel spells through certain gestures and hand movements instead of a conventional catalyst. He attended a little known but prestigious college that taught magic to those with the same magical trait. Eskain proved himself to be a quality student, and sought to put his skills to use in the field. He is currently traveling for the thrill of adventure, and also to seek new and rare forms of magic to learn. The gloves he wears are enchanted, making him able to amplify his magical potential to cast all sorts of spells. Without them, he is limited to simple cantrips.

  43. Personality and Traits:
  44. Eskain is enthusiastic and affable, if somewhat full of himself. There is nothing he loves more than showing off his abilities, often performing for crowds or for his fellow adventurers. He is passionate about magic, especially the lesser known varieties, and is eager to learn about more obscure forms of it. He is very confident in his own capability, and does his best to instill that confidence in others. Eskain comes from a very cold climate, and is sensitive to heat.
