Toad Reference

What can I say about Toad22484?  Speed-runner.  Retro lover.  Community builder.

Toad, how I will refer to him for the remainder of this, has proven himself as a top notch speed-runner.  That said, I judge a speed-runner in two ways: firstly - how successful they are at runs and, secondly - when people are in chat and even though the pressure is high and the gaming level is difficult, is the runner able to still interact.  The answer to both of these, in the case of Toad, is yes.  He holds WRs in several games and is one of those rare speed-runners that keeps a positive attitude and an interaction with chat.  It is exciting to see him perform a run but it is also great that he is engaged with chat during those runs as well.

Retro lover.  Toad lives, breathes and possibly eats retro games.  This is evident with the games that he chooses to run and the depth and knowledge that he has of those games and his willingness to share that knowledge.  For instance, while running Mega Man, if I ask silly questions about the speed-run, he is always happy to oblige with an answer – and it makes sense.

Community builder.  I suppose the first two points feed into this.  As I said before, Toad keeps engaged with chat and answers questions from his viewers about speed-runs.  However, there is more than that.  Toad helps out with other retro community members and is often seen chatting in many other channels.  He brings a positive attitude and fun whether broadcasting or just visiting a chat.  He also takes time out to host events, like Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick in his channel.  This way people in his community can come together and discuss the games that we all love so much during the retro blocks, and even some of the non-retro blocks, in an environment that is open and fun to be in.

To wrap this up, this guy would make a great partner.  I believe he embodies what Twitch is all about – building communities and being entertaining while playing top notch games.
