After negotiations within the organization, it has been decided to disband the Overwatch division of Vici Gaming.

*A heavy coming of age gift*

After the meeting had ended, the next time I went to the training room was to give [DPS/support player] yumu a cake.

Turn off the lights, celebrate, make a wish.

When the lights turned back on, it was as though nothing had illuminated from those bulbs. The tables were scattered with the boys' various things, model figures of Tracer, Reaper and Winston remained on the few shelves in the training room. The boys have lost their cheery spirit of old, and the room was sparse. After standing around for a long while, coach finally broke the ice.

We celebrated his 18th birthday with these contradicting emotions of happiness and despair.

I was unaware when the candles were blown out, but I was met with a pair of reddened, almost teary eyes at the door, and I was moved.

*They were united by Overwatch, but split because of it too*

Careers are often filled with departures, but these departures are what make esports so appealing. Because we don't know what surprises are in store next.

As people come together, there are also others who disperse.

I believe all players are the same, from shy kids when just joining the team, to integrating with the team and even to spending time and having fun together, celebrating victories and weathering losses together. The days of trials and tribulations together, moments of glory or despair, felt like they had just occurred yesterday, flashing before one's eyes.

"I need to get used to this, my life now, my favourite games, and my friends - all of you."

About departures, I think none of them are at all willing to put a period to this team.

There's a line in [Chinese author] Yang Jiang's book 'We Three' that goes:

"Send them off, tell them goodbye, hope we can meet again. If you delay it, would it be more or less painful? I've no idea. But the further I go with him, the more I fear that we will never meet."

VG's Overwatch division has had rumours of disbanding since last year, finally disbanding now would have delayed it for a very long time. Don't know if that is more or less painful for the boys.

*Future decisions*

Overwatch has always been rife with speculations, and unfortunately VG has put a period to this sentence.

There are definitely decisions to be made at crossroads like these. Perhaps the dream of Overwatch could be alive for some of them, maybe others will decide to set sail elsewhere.

We await, and believe in, their decisions. I believe that choices, and hardwork, will bear fruit.

Heroes, after all, never die.

"We've left, but that doesn't mean we're gone!"

When [former DOTA2 player for VG] Xu Zhilei (BurNIng) announced he would leave the team, we said goodbye to our youth.

When [former NBA player] Tim Duncan ended his career, we said goodbye to a legend.

When [former Brazilian footballer] Ronaldo parted ways with football, we said goodbye to our beloved.

VG had said farewell to Diya last year, and to yaoxie this year. The topic of 'leaving' comes up often, and seemingly everyone in esports is used to it, after all they experience it the greatest. Only during those moments of leaving, do you feel those strong and precious bonds of friendship.

Esports is much like life, but not everyone can return home.

But only through parting ways do we learn to cherish, learn to grow, to discover a better version of ourselves.
