  1. >You started to internally reason with yourself the lesson Twilight had taught you. She must have had a point, the only real injury you had ever incurred in Equestria thus far was your own doing, the splinters. Nopony has ever actually hurt you, and everypony, including the animals, were all very friendly...well most anyway. Until there was a good reason, being afraid shouldn't be a trait you'd have. You held on to that belief with renewed knowledge.
  2. >Twilight started to put away the books she had to clear her desk. And replaced them with a very large book. Almost the size of a filly. It seemed to be a book on species and locations in Equestria.
  3. >"So...um...Prin...ahrm. Twilight, how did you make that forest place appear?" You were rather curious about that.
  4. >Twilight opened the book and started to browse "Oh that? Just a simple illusion spell. The forest was all in your head. I thought back to my early days in Ponyville and thought that it'd make a good learning scenario."
  5. >hrm, illusions? You felt rather embarassed with yourself that you were afraid of what was essentially a figment of your imagination.
  6. >Twilight put a chair beside herself for you, and beckoned you to come sit with her. You nod, and plop yourself next to her as she begins to point things out in the book.
  7. >She started to slowly turn the pages "Anon, I want you to tell me if you recognize anything within these pages. You atleast remember a few things about where you're from right? Can you atleast remember any family, any landmarks?"
  8. >You started to think, you could remember a few things. Buildings, cars, streets.....but the more personal you delved into your memories. The more of a blank you drew, some memories seemingly being nonexistant. Such as your original family. "I...can remember big buildings, and things called cars...and...unnhh...". Each time you tried to remember, it seemed to become more distant.
  9. >Twilight thought it odd there'd be buildings. Surely a village of humans would have been noticed at some point. As she turns the pages, you immediately plant your hand on a page marked "Manehatten". The pictures looked familiar.
  10. >Twilight was confused as you spurted that those were the kind of buildings you remembered. "Anon? You're from Manehatten?..."
  11. >That couldn't be right, even if the look in your eyes suggested otherwise. Twilight was positive that Manehatten couldn't be where you were from.
  12. >You stopped, you couldn't remember any names, but you were sure that you were from there, why else would it look so familiar?
  13. >Twilight tells you that's impossible. And reminds you that you are the first of your species anypony has ever seen.
  14. >But to you, that couldn't be right if you could remember buildings. But at the same time, how could you be right if the city was also filled with ponies.
  15. >You slump, this wasn't working it seemed. Twilight entered some deep thought. If humans lived in similar buildings, then it would have definitely been noticeable. "Anon, are you sure you can't remember your own family?"
  16. >You couldn't, and in that regard. You had stopped caring about it. Fluttershy was your mother. If you couldn't even remember your real one, then you probably never had one
  17. >You shook your head to Twilight, and told her Fluttershy was your real mother anyway.
  18. >Twilight couldn't help but smile at such a loving thought. But it didn't bring her any closer to finding out where you're from. She began to ask you about any wildlife you could remember. You told her you could remember animals like the ones that visit the cottage being animals you could remember.
  19. >She couldn't make heads or tails of your answers. It seems like you just sprang up from some parallel universe. But a thought that extreme would have to be put in the backburner, it seemed too farfetched.
  20. >She continued to turn the pages of the book. But you couldn't recognize much of anything else.Nothing else from it really came to mind.
  21. >Twilight closed the book with a groan. And planted her face on it "Well, that was completely pointless..."
  22. >To you, you didn't exactly care. The cottage....Ponyville...and all of Equestria really was your home now. You had a mother who loved you, and you had some friends.
  23. >You look over to the defeated Twilight, and started scratching behind her ear. Hoping it'd cheer her up. It always cheered you up when Fluttershy would do affectionate things.
  24. >Twilight's ear started to twitch, she slowly turns her head towards you, making you pull your hand back "What are you doing?"
  25. >"Umm..you looked sad...so...ummm...I thought that might help?...maybe?"
  26. >Twilight sighed "I don't think I'm the one needing comfort, don't you feel bad that I couldn't find out where you are from? We went through this entire book and....hmmm...I'm sorry I couldn't help you"
  27. >You told her it's ok. You didn't really mind or care where you were from.
  28. >Twilight did. There was a part of her that saw this as a great historical discovery, but her main goal was trying to track down anything about you for medical reasons. Though, she had wondered that if you had parents.....How'd they react to all this.
  29. >Twilight started to go deep into thought. She reasoned you were from somewhere. You could read and speak pony. But where could you have learned it from? What did...
  30. >You interrupt her thoughts with a poke to her side, causing her to lose her train of thought and look at you. Now that you had her attention, you asked her what she did for fun. You were getting bored.
  31. >"Huh? But...Anon, we still have to talk about your place of origin. Did they have any kind of medicine you remember taking at all? A name maybe?"
  32. >You remember medicine, but no name sprang to mind. You told Twilight you couldn't remember. Twilight started to look uneasy.
  33. >She was getting nowhere, her only other thought was taking you to Zecora's. If anyone knew more about the unknown it'd be.....
  34. >You poked her again "You want to play tag or something?"
  35. >Twilight seemed surprised. She thought you'd atleast take this alittle more seriously. But with nothing else to go on at the moment. She thought maybe alittle fun wouldn't hurt. If she couldn't get to know the son of her good friend biologically, then getting to know you through the typical magic of friendship wouldn't hurt.
  36. >She turned to you and smiled "Tag? Well...that's not really my thing. But I have some Daring Do books we could read together and discuss about. Doesn't that sound like fun?"
  37. >No....it didn't. You didn't mind alittle reading. But for fun? You don't think you had it in you even for Fluttershy. "Nope, tag is more fun"
  38. >Twilight eyes narrowed a tad, to her. That wasn't exactly true. "I'd think reading is alittle more fun, it gives you so much insight, and reading about such imaginitive characters and worlds is so thrilling! Don't you think?"
  39. >You crossed your arms. "I think....you're just afraid I'll win"
  40. >Twilight was unamused with that remark, she stared at you a rather challenged looking stare "I'm not afraid of you winning, I just don't think it'd be very fun....besides, I think it'd be unfair anyway."
  41. >Unfair? You ask her why. You were sure she was just trying to avoid a fun game of tag.
  42. >"Because of the unfair advantage I have over you. Come on, wouldn't you like to read a good book instead?" Twilight smiled at you, something about it was alittle offputting. Like she was taunting you.
  43. >You smirk, surely you could best a purple princess bookworm. "I think you just don't want to play because you're afraid to lose."
  44. >Twilight sighed, but she still smiled."Alright, I'll play one game. But don't say I didn't warn you"
  45. >With that, you immediatly tap at Twilight's head and start running towards the door, Yelling "You're it!"
  46. >Twilight was caught offguard and yelled "Hey!" in surprise as you reached the doors. However, this was only a momentary surprise as she notices you making an exit from the library.
  47. >You snicker, this was too easy. You made a turn towards a hallway. For a pony, she didn't even move very fast. You had this in the bag,
  48. >You suddenly feel something tap onto your stomach as you run. You almost lose your balance as you spin about. You end up facing the opposite direction, and looking straight at Twilight. Who was smiling and waving at you. She announced that you were now it as she casually walked back into the library.
  49. >You stood there in shock. Noooooo way she could have moved that fast. You shook your head and ran back into the library.
  50. >You turned to the doors, beyond them. Twilight was pulling out a book from the bookcase. What? The game was still going. And she was sitting down, opening a book?
  51. >You yell to her the game isn't over yet. And that you were ready for her this time. She nodded and agreed the game was still going. But it seemed she figured she could read a whole book while the game was on. There had to be no way, nopony could read a book in seconds. But atleast you had an advantage now. Her own arrogance.
  52. >You rush over towards her. But stop dead in your tracks as you grunt and fall back. What just happened?
  53. >"I think you'll really like this if you give it a chance Anon. Now then, Chapter 1. The rumors of the Golden Crown." Twilight smiled as she started to read the book aloud.
  54. >Maybe you tripped? You don't reply at all to Twilight as you try to step forward. But...there was an invisible wall in your way. What? Hey....this had to be. "Hey this is cheating! You're using magic!"
  55. >Twilight stopped reading and leered at him "Did you say I couldn't use magic?"
  56. >You stopped to think......."No...."
  57. >"Well then I'm not cheating. Ahh, here's the part where Daring Do dismisses the fact the crown exists, despite the fact that she knows it does." She continued reading.
  58. >You started pounding at the barrier "Oh yeah?! This can't stop me! Once I get through...I'm...I'm gonna....I'm gonna tickle you until you give up!"
  59. >Twilight just giggled as she turned the page, continuing to read the story as you continued to bash at the barrier.
  60. >For atleast two more chapters you relentlessly smacked at the barrier. You even tried eating it, but to no avail. After awhile, you just laid against it, panting.
  61. >Twilight looked over to you "Having fun?"
  62. >You just shook your head..."I.....I can't break this thing...."
  63. >Twilight just stared at you with a victorious smirk. "Does that mean I win?"
  64. >At first you wanted to say no. But this barrier was too tough. And it was clear she seemed to be getting some sort of satisfaction from you hopelessly trying to get through it. "....yeah....you win....but only because of magic!"
  65. >Twilight giggled and sing songily agreed with you as she dropped the barrier, you almost fall forward on your face. But you catch yourself.
  66. >You slowly walk over to Twilight, who was bookmarking the page she was at on the book. You started to eye the book carefully. "So....umm..this Daring Do...Is she really that amazing?"
  67. >Twilight nodded as she closed the book. "Yeah actually, she always finds a way to outsmart her adversaries and save the world with quick thinking and swift movements."
  68. >You stare at the book as Twilight begins to put it back. You stop her. "Wait....ummm...Can you read alittle more...things were kind of getting exciting"
  69. >Twilight stopped and smiled at you. "Well, we do still have a few more things to cover. But I can read one more chapter....and let you borrow it when were done. How's that?"
  70. >You thought that was an awesome idea. You promised to take good care of it and return it when you were done.
  71. >Twilight gently laid on her belly as she reopened the book and began to read. You sat next to her, listening to every word until the chapter was done. This wasn't so bad.Besides, hearing about a pony that can kick that kind of ass was just awesome to you.
  72. >After the chapter was over. Twilight rebookmarked the page and placed it at her desk. Telling you can borrow it after the visit was done, and asked you to take very good care of it. Of course you agreed, that was simple enough.
  73. >At this point. Twilight wanted to talk to you about the upcoming visit from Princess Celestia. She started to lead you to her chambers. Stating there was a telescope in the room that had a good enough lens to see Canterlot.
  74. >Suddenly, a boyish voice could be heard drawing closer to the library before you both could exit.
  75. >"Hey Twilight, just got done buying those new set of quills you asked for!"
  76. >Suddenly, a small purple lizard thing turned towards the room. Holding a box with a picture of a quill on it.
  77. >You are almost taken aback by the sight of it. But something held you back. It was the wisdom Twilight had given you. This was nothing to be afraid of. Infact you remember the mention of a baby dragon assistant. This had to be him. "Hey Twilight, is that your assistant?"
  78. >Twilight was delighted that you didn't have a negative reaction "Yup, That's my number one assistant..."
  79. >Before Twilight could finish, the dragon had put down the box and noticed you, gasping "Woah, Twilight....what is that thing?"
  80. >Twilight groaned, and placed her hoof on her face in disappointment. ".....Spike"
  81. >But you didn't get angry, well...maybe alittle annoyed. But it was alright. Totally natural reaction....Totally.
  82. >You took a breath, and introduced yourself. You noticed he was smaller than you. Seemed to talk pretty good though for a baby dragon.
  83. >Twilight was quite amazed you took everything so well. Indeed, you weren't a lost cause after all.
  84. >Spike just circled around you once and tugged at your clothes "Anon, huh? I dunno...never met an Anon before, gotta say though. You're one snappy dresser."
  85. >Muh dragonbro
  86. >Though in actuality you take a notice to your suit and the color scheme of his scales. They are the exact same color down to ever last detail. Was that intentional?
  87. >Twilight looked at Spike and corrected him "Actually Spike, Anon is his name. He's actually a human"
  88. >Spike put his hand to his chin "Oh......what's a human?"
  89. >Twilight couldn't come up with an answer, even you couldn't. But it didn't seem to phase you too badly, it was just saddening you couldn't answer a question like that.
  90. >"Woah....neither of you know? Twilight...You usually know everything" Spike was astonished, and you and even Twilight started to feel alittle annoyed. But Twilight was patient enough to know Spike meant nothing by it.
  91. >You yourself just looked down. You didn't care before. But now suddenly, not being able to answer a question that should have been simple stung you.
  92. >Suddenly, Spike reached his hand behind your back and patted it "Eh, don't worry about it. I don't know where I really came from either, don't care either.Yup, guys like us. It's better to be all mysterious, it really wows the ladies." As he said this, he obviously had Rarity in mind.
  93. >Ladies huh? You never gave that too much thought. There weren't even any girl humans around. You did have a hazy thought of Sweetie Belle. But you quickly dismissed it.
  94. >"Wait....so you don't know where you came from either? You don't even know your real parents or anything?" You were really curious about this. It was like he was the same as you. Except...purple......and scaly....and such.
  95. >"Yup, Twilight pretty much hatched me from an egg back in Canterlot." Spike didn't seem at all sad about mentioning that.
  96. >"So is....Twilight your mo...oh gee."You stumbled your words as you bowed before him. "I'm sorry Prince Spike, I...I didn't mean not to bow...and stuff"
  97. >Twilight almost keeled over laughing as Spike stood confused."Hahaha..haha..hrmm..mm..Anon, he's not my son. He's my friend and number one..."
  98. >But Spike stopped her midsentence as he entered a regal pose. "Prince, number one Prince of Equestria....I guess I can look over...ow!"
  99. >Twilight walked over and immediatly bopped him on the head. "Spike, don't confuse him. Unless you want an official "Crowning""
  100. >You stood up, realising your mistake. Twilight told you not to worry about it. It was just Spike being Spike.
  101. >With that over, you ask Spike if he knew who his real parents were, and if he knows about what he is. You were still curious.
  102. >Spike was still rubbing his head, but he obliged you answer "Nah, I don't know who my parents are. I don't really care either, I have my friends and Twilight afterall. As for what I am...heh..let's just say you don't want to run into any dragons who aren't me"
  103. >You asked him why, in which he replied they were pretty big jerks. He seemed glad that he didn't have to hang around his own kind. It made you wonder if humans were scummy too. If they were, then you definitely wanted nothing to do with them.
  104. >Twilight was happy you both were getting along, but she wanted to get the final piece of business regarding Celestia done before things became too off track. But you were content speaking with Spike at the moment.
  105. >"So umm..Spike, can you breath fire?" He was a dragon afterall. He should beable to.
  106. >"Can I blow fire? hah, check this out!" He blew out a small green flame, you were impressed. Seeing any flame at all was impressive to you. You thought it was cool.
  107. >Spike started rubbing his claws on his chest, smirking arrogantly "Yup, pretty cool huh? That's not all I can do too. I once saved an entire empire with these skills of mine. They even made a statue of me, heheh"
  108. >Twilight thought it best to interject there before Spike's head grew any bigger. Twilight skipped showing you Canterlot from the telescope and just wanted to tell you about Celestia.
  109. >"Come on Twilight, you're being uptight again. You should be more like Spike, he's pretty cool"
  110. >Twilight groaned, looked like things fell offtrack. But maybe it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. You seemed comfortable and content. You weren't spazzing out. And you seemed to have a pretty immediate connection to Spike. She started to think perhaps things went better than she hoped.....still didn't like being called uptight.
  111. >"Twilight isn't uptight...well not too much...she's actually one of the coolest ponies you'll ever meet. And she's a princess who has blasted more bad guys than I can count, how cool is that?"
  112. >Spike seemed to have a way with words, A super battle princess did seem pretty cool. And it seemed even he could blast armies if he saved an entire empire. "Wow Twilight, I didn't know you were that cool"
  113. >Twilight blushed abit and shrugged off the comment, mentioning it really wasn't much. And that she had help from her friends.
  114. >At this point, Twilight had just about given up discussing Celestia's visit with you. She also would have to plan a visit to Zecora's for help on getting medicine for you.
  115. >The day was also slowly closing to sunset. The sun was shimmering just over the horizon. You and Spike discussed a few things more as Twilight went to write a letter. Spike was a pretty interesting guy. You got along well with him, and despite him only being alittle smaller than you. He seemed like a cool older brother type.
  116. >But alas the day was ending. And there were things to be done. Twilight handed you the Daring Do book as you told her that Fluttershy said to contact her through a magical signal....or something. To come get you.
  117. >But Twilight saw how comfy you were with Spike, and thought it might be a better idea if he walk you home instead. You thought it odd at first. Given he's a baby dragon.....but he did save an empire...and maybe bothering Fluttershy was unneeded just to be picked up.
  118. >You happily agree, Spike doesn't seem to mind at all either. It may be the fact he can also easily impress you, but he did want to be friends with you. Something told him you were a pretty good guy.
  119. >And so, the arrangements were made.
