  34. ? And what would your fantasy world be and why would you be writing it??
  35. BlackXanthus?
  36. oh
  37. Ok, but first, a clarification if you'd be so kind? Up until.. .umm.. HANG ON...
  38. Up until Josiah, whenever he lived, the stories of the Jews were just that, stories, right?
  39. BlackXanthus, and Josiah was the one? or the time? when these stories were made up or embellished or ... set in Josiah's version of them?
  40. tzip 11:59:11
  41. I see, but they're still just "stories" and the people of Josiah's time wrote them down? They were cultural/fictional but Jos...
  42. innit 11:59:24
  43. tzip, I have a question for you.
  44. tzip 11:59:44
  45. Oh, but you doubt they wrote it wholesale. You think the Josiah people MAY have made up some of it but most of it were the cultural fictions, right?
  46. hang on, innit. I need to grill BlackXanthus.
  47. innit 12:00:02
  48. My question is about that.
  49. tzip 12:00:05
  50. Wlel combination of myth, legend, stories then, BlackXanthus.
  51. I'm trying to type too fast before you go!

  56. nooooooo.. not until I get all I can from BlackXanthus.
  57. THEN you can assault me. :)
  58. k, BlackXanthus. go on..
  59. BadWolf 12:01:51
  60. brad70: Depends on who you are basting.
  61. tzip 12:02:14
  62. I have that part, BlackXanthus. What I'm trying to get is a time line of WHEN these stories were written.
  63. during Josiah's time and taken a lot from Judges which were earlier, BlackXanthus?
  64. I have that part, BlackXanthus. What I'm trying to get is a time line of WHEN these stories were written.
  65. during Josiah's time and taken a lot from Judges which were earlier, BlackXanthus?
  66. oh
  67. that clears up a LOT for me, BlackXanthus. Go on now... Elohim to Yahweh...
  68. innit 12:03:41
  69. tzip, some topics have ethical and technical components.
  70. tzip 12:03:56
  71. I know, innit. I'm trying for "strictly historical"
  72. innit 12:04:08
  73. For example, the topic of 'How would you transport 5 million Jews in Europe to death camps?"
  74. → doomed has joined
  75. ⓘ Profound gives voice to doomed
  76. innit 12:04:33
  77. There are ethical components like, "Should we do that? Is it ethical? Why are you transporting these people to death camps?"
  78. doomed 12:04:51
  79. Hi.
  80. innit 12:05:13
  81. And there are technical components like, "What gauge is your railroad using? If I put 500 humans per train car do they die of suffocation before reaching Buchenwald?"
  82. tzip 12:05:13
  83. I give. why?
  84. ← Guest01344 has left (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
  85. innit 12:05:44
  86. Here is my thesis: It is unethical to discuss technical components of such topics with people who don't have the right answers on the ethical components.
  87. So, if a person doesn't denounce the horrors of Nazism, don't discuss railroad gauges with them.
  88. How does that apply here?
  89. tzip 12:06:11
  90. ok, right.
  91. innit 12:06:21
  92. Christianity has technical and ethical components.
  93. Technical components are things like Josiah, his lineage, and which books if any are 'correct'.
  94. tzip 12:06:51
  95. BlackXanthus, one ancillary question: So Judges stories came before the Deuteronomists?
  96. innit 12:07:23
  97. Ethical components are thing like "Love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "Don't bear false witness" and "The lowest among you is the highest" "What you do to the least of us you do to me" and "Be slow to anger and quick to forgiveness"
  98. tzip 12:07:31
  99. BlackXanthus, if I have something of a time line in my head then I can hook things into their proper places and remember it all better. .. if you follow.
  100. innit 12:07:35
  101. Now, Jesus was ask this specifically many times -- he agrees with what I am saying.
  102. He wants us above all to focus on the ethical components, not the technical components.
  103. 1 Corinthians says the same thing, too.
  104. Knowledge without love is clanging of cymbals.
  105. Now, BlackXanthus has spread false witness about people in this channel.
  106. He's been quick to anger.
  107. He is slow to forgive.
  108. He cares about his own emotions more than the emotions of others.
  109. And he bans people for praying to God.
  110. I have logs for all of these things.
  111. It is unethical to discuss the technical components of Christianity with such a person.
  112. That is my question/point to you, tzip.
  113. tzip 12:09:28
  114. innit, can I ask you to sort of hold it in until I get the information from BlackXanthus? I'd apperciate that so much. HUGS
  115. innit 12:09:44
  116. I just subsumed that desire.
  117. If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
  118. tzip 12:10:07
  119. innit, can I ask you to sort of hold it in until I get the information from BlackXanthus? I'd apperciate that so much. HUGS
  120. innit 12:10:13
  121. I just subsumed that desire.
  122. Your desire is unethical.
  123. You're teaching BlackXanthus that the wrongs parts of Christianity are important.
  124. The technical components are not important.
  125. The ethical components are the most important part.
  126. tzip 12:10:53
  127. BlackXanthus, just type away. Try to ignore the interruptions, k?
  128. innit 12:11:15
  129. tzip, I will take a pause from you now.
  130. I do not believe you will return to this topic if I don't bring it up again.
  131. I don't believe you're concerned with the ethics of this action of yours -- you must want some information.

  138. This is one of the most lovely songs I've ever heard.
  139. An ode to nature and existence.
  140. innit 12:15:01
  141. One last example of "Don't discuss rail gauges with people who don't condemn the Holocaust" would be discussing the health benefits of people who won't acknowledge the topic that the mass killing of non-humans to fulfill our tongue preferences is unethical.
  142. It's also, incidentally killing our species through climate change.
  143. But people who put their tongue preferences above the lives of whole beings don't care about the fate of our species.
  144. Imagine being in the middle of the sixth mass extinction on Earth, which we are.
  145. Imagine living in a world where 80% of the biomass of insects have died since the 1970s.
  146. Imagine living in a world in which animal farming is the biggest contributor to climate change.
  147. Imagine living in a world in which 40% of the 1.2 billion humans in India don't have access to drinking water, due, in part to climate change.
  148. And then insisting on debating whether or not eating 10 billion cows a years leads to heart disease.
  149. Our species is under existential threat from climate change and animal farming is not sustainable.
  150. It was beneficial to our species 30k years ago, and now it will kills us.
  151. I will, under no conditions, debate the heart effects of eating 80 billion chickens a year with a person who can't acknowledge the above.
