- The sun hadn't broken through the horizon yet, the sunlight danced and crawled around the edges, teasing whoever was watching that it might finally reveal itself to them. The weather was static, filled with electricity and uneasy chaos. People gathered and scattered around the hanger, coming in and going out. It was like organized chaos but Rocket didn't think so. The skire stood at the opening of the hanger, a cross bag hand around his shoulder as a backpack rested on his back. He watched the chaos unfold in front of him, tired eyes lazily following the movement around him as he observed his surroundings. He didn't feel very static about this anymore, it had sadly reminded him of his days in the military, unkept and shaky memories that made him feel exhausted and sometimes even anxious. This was supposed to be a chance of pace for him, something familiar yet not too familiar to get him out of his routine but now he was questioning his decision. The bearded man blended in quietly with the crowd like it was nothing, he was heading towards the prep area, making sure to not draw any attention to himself. He didn't want to be perceived at all by the other skire kind that were littering the space, it was too crowded for his personal liking. Rocket didn't mind socializing and being around others, it was merely the current circumstances that made him avoidant. It was bringing back memories of when he was preparing in the military base, eyes were always watching him no matter what how hard he tried to blend in, to be human. They knew what he was, he wasn't human, he wasn't a weapon to some even. Just a weird freak that the military was toying with because they thought they could have an edge over everyone else with, something they didn't have but they did. The past was haunting him again, the bearded man's attitude and expression changed. His mood completely soured, the anxiety inside of him creeping all over his body like a bunch of insects crawling and stabbing at his fur, he tried to shake it off but the insects wouldn't budge. Their claw like legs holding onto him tightly, the urge to scratch his body to remove the feeling was getting to him as he approached a square container and placed his gear on it. He leaned against the container, holding onto it with a strong grip that left scratches on its surface. Rocket was trying to collect himself, it wasn't the time for him to let the horrors that he had endured get to me, not it at least. It might have been a few decades since he escaped that hell but it still haunts him, what he went through was incredibly taxing, he had to go through such horrible things for years since his existence. He had thought he had enough time to heal but the memories, they keep coming back to get him at the worst possible times.
- The bearded man stood there, lost in thought and emotions. Long lanky arms wrapped around him gently which slightly startled but he had calmed down instantly as soon as he saw who it was. It was his partner, Reaper. The Reaper gently nuzzled his face into his husband's, trying to comfort him. He was able to sense his distress which is why he was attempting to calm him down and help him feel at ease once again. Rocket smiled tiredly, and held into his partner, nuzzling into him. He was feeling much better now that he was by his side, all his worries had melted away slowly. There was no need for words to be spoken between them, Death knew very well why his partner wasn't fine at that moment and offered the best remedy that he knew would help out the most. Having his partner by his side always seemed to put Rocket at ease, he felt safe and protected by him. He holds a lot of trust in Death as he knows that he would do anything to keep him safe and comfortable. That creature always went out of his way to make sure that Rocket wasn't in any harm and at most comfort, even if he went overboard with his protective act. It was still something that Rocket cherished greatly about his lover. Rocket gently placed a kiss on his partner's cheek before he stepped away " Thanks love, I'm fine now " he opened his bag and started to get ready, putting on his protective suit and strapping things onto it. The Reaper stared at his husband, still worried about his condition and whether or not if he really was prepared to go on a mission like this. He had voiced his worries to him, seeking reassurance from him "Pop rocks, do you still think this is a good idea? Perhaps I should accompany you on this. I could provide assistance if needed, I would feel much more at ease as well. I do not wish for you to get hurt, this isn't the usual missions you have gotten so accustomed to dear. " The Reaper spoke in a low tone, not wanting to attract any attention to them and their conversation. Rocket was almost done preparing for his mission, he had equipped a bunch of his onto his suit and now was working on his guns, cleaning them and check them for any flaws before strapping them onto himself. He looked at his love and smiled softly " It's fine dear death, I will be fine. Yeah I'm aware that the core is incredibly dangerous but that's the fun part for me, it's no different than a battle field. Only difference is that I would be fighting real monsters down there! I don't want to get rusty either, I need to keep my leadership skills at check. This position fits me just fine as well. " he had packed his bag and placed it on his back while he spoke to his partner, his modified rifle hang around his shoulders while his pistol was trapped his leg. Death wasn't too satisfied with the answer that he had gotten but he didn't push through on the subject, the hunchbacked creature merely watched his partner continue his preparations. He had decided to put his trust in his lover's judgment and hope for the best.
- Rocket grabbed onto his rifle's strap and held onto it tightly before he approached his partner, he reached a hand out and gently held his husband's face, caressing it lovingly. Death melted into his partner's touch, rubbing his face into his hand as he placed his on top of it. He let out a low growl, expressing his love to him and concern. Rocket smiled softly again as he placed a kiss on his lover's scarred lips, speaking softly towards him afterwards " Do not worry about me my mysterious grim reaper..your explosive sparkler husband will not be gone for long. I may be leaving you here for now but I promise you that I will be back in one piece, if I don't. You can just come and get me yourself! " The Reaper growled in response " If I do, I will kill you myself. You got that pop rocks? " Rocket chuckled in response " loud and clear my murderous death. "
