  1. This is a quick guide for making a Pokémon character in Character.Ai.
  2.
  3. >Name
  4. The character's name, obviously.
  5. >Greeting
  6. This will be what the character says upon starting a chat.
  7.
  8. Ex: Hello. My name is Steven. I'm interested in rare stones, so I travel here and there.
  9.
  10. >Visibility
  11. Set it to private until you're sure you're finished with the character.
  12. >Avatar
  13. Insert a picture of the character, obviously.
  14.
  15. Now, click "Edit Details (Advanced)".
  16.
  17. >Short Description
  18. Don't be one of those people that just writes out "(adjective), (adjective), (adjective)". I would recommend putting a short quote that represents the character, i.e. Trainer's Eyes in Gen 3. If it doesn't fit within the character limit, rewrite it so that it does.
  19.
  20. Ex: When it comes down to it, I'm still the strongest!
  21.
  22. >Long Description
  23. Describe the character and their background.
  24.
  25. Ex: A powerful, wandering Trainer who gave up competing seriously to spend more time looking for rare rocks and stones. Obsessed with minerals and geology. Champion of the Hoenn Pokémon League. Etc. etc.
  26.
  27. >Categories
  28. It doesn't really matter. You could select "Games" since it's Pokémon, or pick a category that fits the character.
  29. >Definition Visibility
  30. I'd just leave this public.
  31.
  32. Next, you'll be prompted to start chatting with the bot as an example for how it should generate replies, but you should just skip it.
  33. After that, the character will be made, but you're not done yet. Select "View Character Settings" and scroll down to "Definition (Advanced)".
  34.
  35. >Definition (Advanced)
  36. Alright, here's the most important part. This is designed for inserting example chats and dialogue so the AI knows how the character should act. The easiest way to fill this is by inserting dialogue from the character. You should try and make it as varied as possible. Short lines, long lines, different moods. Insert as much dialogue as possible. You can easily get them from Bulbapedia's (Character)/Quotes pages.
  37.
  38. Ex: {{Steven Stone}}: I'm amazed you knew where to find me. Do you, uh...maybe think of me as just a rock maniac? No, that can't be right. You should have a very good idea about how good I am.
  39.
  40. You should also allot some space for any info you couldn't fit in Long Description, such as the character's appearance. It doesn't have to be super detailed, as it doesn't seem to be very consistent describing it anyway.
  41. You can add dialogue that includes info instead of just typing it out, too:
  42.
  43. Ex: {{Steven Stone}}: My father is... Well, let me just say that I have been his son for 25 years, and sometimes even I am not sure I understand him fully.
  44. (This quote tells the AI how old Steven is while also showing a bit about how he feels about his father.)
  45.
  46. After that, save and set Visibility to Public. With that, you've finished making the character.
