- A large tough shelled beetle.
- Has wings 6 wings under its shell and is capable of replicating up to 3 magical Tomes at a time.
- Must attune to each for 1d6 Hours before they are displayed on its wings.
- If Tome Beetle has all of its wings attuned to tomes it can no longer fly without ruining (forgetting) one Tome.
- Each Tome can be used once before it disappears from Tome Beetles wings.
- A Tome Beetle can be dismissed to a safe space but requires an animal handling roll to recall and cannot be recalled while in threat range of an enemy (flying range of 30ft in any direction away from the most immediate threat until recalled or it has left the battlefield)
- Tome Beetle is capable of sacrificing any of its Tomes instantly without use to either regain the power of flight or learn a new Tome (this still requires a 1d6 roll to attume).
- Tome Beetle can attune to Tomes that it has access to or spells the player can currently cast however it does not destroy the Tome by attuning to it.
- A Tome Beetle is capable of becoming an Aegis Beetle -
- Retains ability to store 1 Tome and recall it without requiring access to that Tome until Aegis Beetle attunes to another Tome, Tome can still only be used once before a 1d20 +10 recovery time. Attuning to any other Tome still takes 1d6 hours (this includes Tomes the Aegis Beetle previously knew)
- No longer has impaired flight when holding a Tome
- has a toughened shell
- increases armour class by 1 when used as a shield
- requires no free hand to hold
- can hover in place similarly to an Animated shield for up to 1 minute at a time
- Gives a +1 on players first Death Saving throw
- Can be recalled while in enemy threat range with no disadvantage
- A Tome Beetle is capable of becoming a Spellbook Beetle -
- Retains the ability to store up to 10 Tomes without requiring access to the same Tome again after its first attunement (While Spellbook Beetle can store 10 Tomes at a time it can remember 15 Tomes at a time that it does not require a Tome to attune to)
- Can no longer fly and must be carried by the player unless ALL Tomes are used, once all Tomes have been used the Spellbook Beetle will immediately attempt to leave the battlefield if in combat (flying range of 30ft)
- Each tome can be used once before a 1d10*missing Tome minutes (wings that have not been attuned do not count as missing Tomes, if another Tome is used while one is in it’s recovery state make a new roll, the new recovery time is applied to all current Tomes in the recovery even if this time becomes lower than the initial recovery)
- If a Spellbook Beetle is damaged in combat it can avoid damage by sacrificing 1 Tome, roll a 1d10 to find out which, if this time is on recovery the Spellbook Beetle still takes damage. If the Spellbook Beetle is hit with a Crit it can avoid damage by sacrificing all of its current Tomes.
- Cannot be recalled in combat
- If player is downed Spellbook Beetle can use 1 dedicated healing Tome (if attuned) at the cost of all remaining Tomes being used.
