Danielle grew up in Vancouover, Canada with her parents and her sister Yoona. She and her sister were always so close to each other and did practically everything together. Her parents sent them both to a private school though, the girls didn't really want to go. There, Danielle made a couple of friends but overall, she didn't really like her experience in the school. After heavy persuasion from both the sisters, her parents decided to move them to a public school. People liked how she was confident and assertive but not rude. She made a lot more friends in the public school and her grades were one of the top in the class. She joined the schools drama club and music club and she and her sister both got paid vocal & rap lessons.
When she turned 18, she and her family moved to Korea and this is where she got her first job in a popular Korean restaurant. She was also earning money on the side by modelling for small adverts here and there. She got her first boyfriend when she was 19 years old and they were going really well. This was until he moved away and then cheated on her with another girl. In order to forget him, she decided to focus on her career path which was becoming an idol and an actress.
After her sister debuted in Girl's Generation, she knew that she should audition for a company and she found out that RBW Entertainment was holding auditions. She auditioned with G-Dragon's Bullshit and G-Dragon's Untitled 2014 and after a couple of months of waiting, she found out she got in.
