I also took a measure of each character's level of "controversy", which is really just a measure of the standard deviation of their rankings. I have thoughts on the overall rankings:

1. Kokichi - The favorite, but also the third-most controversial of the class, which is surprising. He was definitely a love 'em or hate 'em character, but love overwhelmingly won out in the end.
2. Kaede - One of the least controversial characters, no one in the poll ranked her in the bottom half and most gave her a high score. Many mentioned a preference for her over Shuichi.
3. Miu - The second most controversial, but clearly a favorite for a lot of people in this thread. Surprised me, because I couldn't stand her.
4. Kaito - A mix of opinions, Kaito was generally viewed very positively, with some middling and negative ratings mixed in.
5. Gonta - The loveable one. Mostly got middling to positive rankings with a couple of outliers.
6. Ryoma - People were split on where to rank Ryoma, but most agreed that he died before his time.
7. Maki - Consistently received middle of the road rankings - the people have spoken and they say "She's alright."
8. Keebo - Didn't make anyone's top 3, but didn't do so badly, either.
9. Himiko - A lot of mixed opinions, her rankings were truly across the board.
10. Shuichi - A whole lot of "eh". He failed to really excite, but didn't draw *too* much hatred, either.
11. Angie - By far the most controversial character, her final ranking doesn't convey just how polarizing she was.
12. Tenko - People seemed generally alright with Tenko's character, but most were not willing to look past her bizarre and repetitive "degenerate males" tic.
13. Kirumi - Those who weren't bored by Kirumi thought she was gone too quickly.
14. Kirekiyo - Barring one *ahem* significant outlier, you guys were not impressed by Kirekiyo.
15. Rantaro - How do you rank a character you hardly know? Poorly, as it turns out, and consistently so; Rantaro was the least controversial character in the game.
16. Tsumugi - She broke the top half for only one person in this poll, everyone else agreed that Tsumugi was one of the weakest characters in DR3.
