- Military Update - June 2017
- Quite some time has passed since I've written one of these. Many things have changed, and if you are out of the loop for various reasons, this is the post for you to read. It's going to be a fairly long post and probably not everything in here interests you, but at least try to skim through it.
- Current Threats
- 1. PL and NC. are still in close proximity, although their activity has reduced significantly as of late. Most PL activity was BLOPS or joining as a 3rd party to other engagements.
- We have managed to destroy all but one of their citadels in Phoenix Federation space. The Naga doctrine we introduced for this purpose has proven to be very effective.
- 2. Triumvirate has been back from their northern deployment for quite some time, and as some of you have learned at great expense, some of their hunters are once again active in our space.
- Keep an eye on local and remember this Revenant pilot is currently hunting carriers and easy targets.
- 3. Fraternity and their friends are still a threat and have recently announced that they will be hitting our Wicked Creek Sov in an attempt to take it back.
- New Programs and Doctrine Changes
- 1. The Strategic Mining fleets have been running successfully and we are in the process of building a Dread cache in order to replace our lost Dreads quickly after fights. Hopefully we will be able to expand this cache for other things in the near future: Original post
- NOTE: Currently all mining fleets receive SRP for approved fits for FCON members and all fleets receive a pap that is counted just as any other strat-op pap. We are considering other reward options for the future, but right now the frequency of the mining fleets has been too low to impact pvp activity or skew monthly stats.
- 2. The Capital Reserve Group is now open for recruitment: See here - this is a low requirement group for capital pilots that want a shot at capital fleets but are not quite ready for the main group yet.
- 3. Several Capital Training Fleets have been organised and there will be more to come. If you can participate, please do join and help us develop new capital FCs, as well as help new capital pilots get some hands-on experience before they join in a real fight.
- 4. Sniper Nagas were added as an experimental doctrine for killing of manned Citadels in our space: Doctrine post. So far they've been used with surprising success.
- 5. Abaddons will be replacing Tempests soon: Announcement post
- 6. Muninns and 4-Horsemen are being retired: As stated here
- Recent notable battles
- Image
- 1. Provi assistance fleet turns into Goonswarm dunk thanks to help from CO2: AAR here
- 2. The massive fight in HED-GP: AAR here
- 3. The battle with the Goonswarm's Space Violence SIG over the XVV- jump bridge: AAR here
- 4. The defense of the 5H- Fortizar ending in a massive defeat for Goons: Subcap AAR and an additional Capital one. There is also an awesome video by our propaganda team
- 5. Fight against Fraternity over a TCU in Wicked Creek: AAR here
- The State of the FC Team
- The FC team currently is the biggest it has ever been with 35 FCON FCs and 16 coalition FCs. These numbers are always changing slightly due to new recruits and so on. Out of 51 FCs, 15 are fairly new additions with even more on the way, so I ask all of you to be patient and supportive towards the people that have stepped up to provide content for everyone.
- Please report any issues regarding an FC to diplos or directly to me, or if you can't reach me, a member of the Skyteam. Any reports of FC misconduct will be investigated.
- Training Focus
- Our priority remains increasing our capital force. Priority is for Dreads, but Faxes and Carriers are very much welcome as well. If you are already capital-ready, consider training for a Supercapital. Aeons are the best choice but we won't turn away Nyxes either. Remember that the FCON Capital Group is armor tanked and you should train accordingly!
- Note: There have been changes to the requirements to join the Capital Group! Check the Wiki and Selene for further details. If you have a green check mark for any of the hulls listed you are good to go.
- If you have alts that are lying around not doing much, consider training them into a Dread. Having Dread alts ready to drop while you are in a subcap fleet with your main is a very strong weapon to keep in reserve in the event of a Capital escalation.
- If you are not quite looking towards Capitals yet, then please consider training some of the essentials like Interdictors, Heavy Interdictors or Logis and Recons. We also want to increase our Sleipnir numbers for the Extra Spice doctrine, so consider training towards one since they're really cool ships even outside fleet fights.
- Interdictor Caches
- We’ve had a lot of hostile Capitals and Supers escaping from the middle of our space because there was nothing to tackle them. We need to fix this issue. While we work on establishing more formal system, consider keeping a small stash of Interdictors, or an alt that’s ready to go in one, close to where you rat. We’ve already lost some significant kills because we were not prepared to hold hostile assets down while fleet is en route to finish them off.
- Although slightly improved, we also need more Interdictor and Heavy Interdictor pilots in fleets as well.
