- >A usual night at the Loud's residence wasn't quite as loud as it would be during the day, and while most of the Loud Children were tucked away in their beds, Lana scurried down the darkened hallway looking for someone to keep those pesky nightmares away.
- >She approached the room of her eldest sisters like she always had, but stopped just short of opening it.
- >"Oh. Right. Lori's not here."
- >Though the room's other occupant was still in, Lana hesitated. She had nothing against her other older sister, but even she knew Leni could only do so much. Lori just had a certain way of calming her down and making her feel safe.
- >No. That wasn't fair.
- >Leni could be just as responsible! She was kind and nice and really pretty too! It was only reasonable that she could do just as much as Lori could if not more! On the other hand...
- >Before the thought could finish the floor boards creaked and the wind began to pick up, the light breeze flitting through the many crannies of their ramshackle home like the whispers of terrible things hiding in the shadows.
- >Lana bolted inside, shoving the door and running towards the safety of anything but where she was now.
- >"L-lennni! I had a nightmare!"
- >Not being a particularly heavy sleeper Leni awoke, and to the sound of her baby sister's fearful whines greeted Lana with a reassuring smile.
- >"It's okay." She said, patting an empty spot on the bed. "Tell me about it."
- >Lana nodded and scurried to her sister's side. Clutching the covers for comfort she began to recall the horrid dream in detail.
- >"Well," Lana swallowed. "First, the blood sucking aliens were chasing me-"
- >Leni's eyes grew wide as she suddenly sat up. A fearful, frantic look in her eyes took hold as she gasped and clutched the bedsheets, her body shivering in fright.
- >"Did they see you come in here?!" She stood up from her bed, now in a full-blown panic. She hurried to an adequately large piece of furniture and began to shove. "Quick, help me with this dresser!"
- >Lana slowly made her way off the bed and to her sister's side. She had hoped to stave off the nightmares for tonight, but with how anxious Leni was that didn't seem like it was going to happen.
- >Lana began to whimper. "I wish Lori was here. She would make us feel safe."
- >Leni, having finished blocking the doorway, tried giving Lana a sign of reassurance, but given how she herself acted she agreed. Unfortunately that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon.
- >"I know, but we can't bug her. She wants to be alone." Leni had spoken truthfully, but realized she had made a mistake in saying that.
- >Lana looked just about ready to cry, and Leni lept to her sister and scooped her up into her arms.
- >"Shhh shhh shh. It's okay Lana. I'll be right here."
- >"B-b-but you're scared too!"
- >Leni pondered a bit. "I know! We should get someone else to be here with us."
- >"Who?"
- >The two blondes were met with sighs and eyerolls, glares and assortments of disapproving looks from the others as they walked the halls raving about the night's frights.
- >"And then there were aliens!
- >"That liked to suck blood!"
- >"And the wind made spooky noises"
- >"Its was all like 'boo!'"
- >And Leni was there!"
- >"I was?"
- >"You were!"
- >"O-M-GOSH!"
- >The two continued to rant and rave about the things they experienced, as well as things that they didn't, all the while dragging their snow-haired, half-asleep brother in tow.
- >Lincoln could barely muster anything other than a groan in his daze as to inquire why he was being dragged out of his bed this late. The two flailing their limbs and talking over each other didn't help much.
- >Once they made it to the supposed safety of Leni's room did the two calm down enough to explain to Lincoln. Very slowly and mutliple times.
- >"So. You're having nightmares?"
- >The six-year old nodded.
- >"And Leni is..." He rubbed his eyes and yawned. Only half-awake he couldn't gauge the entire situation, but he knew enough to know what to do. "Do you have a flashlight Leni?"
- >Leni quickly retrieved one from a nearby drawer and handed it to him. Flashlight in hand Lincoln methodically scoped the room, his two sisters watching him all the while.
- >Under the beds? Nothing.
- >In the closet? Nothing.
- >Every nook and cranny of the room he could check he did and, unsurprisingly, he found nothing.
- >"Better?"
- >Lana nodded. She hopped to his side and gave Lincoln a tight hug around his waist.
- >"Thanks Lincoln."
- >He smiled. "No problem Lana."
- >With that dealt with Lincoln was ready to head to bed and enjoy a good night's rest. There was a problem though. He couldn't move. Lana was still holding on to him.
- >"Uh. Lana?"
- >"Lincoln. Uh. If it's not a problem could you stay here with me and Leni? You know just for the night?"
- >Lincoln's gaze met Leni's who seemed to show a sheepish grin.
- >"Yeah. Okay." He sighed, lacking the energy to complain. He just wanted to sleep. Where, it didn't matter, and if this helped his two sisters out then, well, it ain't too bad.
- >Laying down and smothered between the two Lincoln fought against sleep no more and was out like a light.
- >The two girls grabbed hold of their brother, one arm for each, and gave him a gentle peck to each cheek.
- >"Good night Leni."
- >"Good night Lana."
- >"Good night Lincoln."
- >"Good night..."
