  1. >”Anon, if you have any doubts at all, it’s okay. It’s not too late to turn ba-”
  2. “No, Vinyl.” You take a deep breath, the cold air stabbing your throat as you do so. “I want this. Not just for me, but for us.”
  3. >She looks at you, her red eyes glowing in the dark of the night, with an almost unreadable expression. They say the eyes are a window to a person’s soul, but that must be wrong. In the few times Vinyl’s taken her shades off, you still can never read her. She’s an enigma to you.
  4. >But maybe you’re just bad at reading people.
  5. >You shift uncomfortably on the stone tablet, taking care not to knock the candles over, or any of the totems.
  6. >”Anon…” She caresses your cheek with a pale palm; it’s cold. Dead cold. Her skin’s always been like that, and you never could have guessed in a million years what the real reason would be.
  7. >”I… I can’t even tell you how much I love you. If anything goes wrong at all…”
  8. “It won’t. You’ve been preparing for this for months, as have I.”
  9. >Shaking her head, she bites her lip, a sharp tooth peeking out from the corner of her mouth.. “I just don’t know what I’d do without you, Anon. I’ve been alone for so long. I don’t want to lose you.”
  10. >You give her a reassuring smile, unsure of how to set her troubles to ease.
  11. >Truth be told, you’re a little out of your element.
  12. >Actually that’s the understatement of a fucking century.
  13. >But more specifically in regards to her - since you’ve never seen her so withdrawn and ‘calm’, she’s usually bouncing off the walls with energy. The two of you barely get so emotional like this.
  14. “It’s going to be okay. I’m ready for this. I know what I want. I mean it wholeheartedly when I say this: I want to spend the rest of eternity with you.”
  15. >Silence fills the night, broken only by the wind rustles the leaves of the trees around the two of you.
  16. >”Okay,” she says in the most quietest way you’ve ever heard her talk. “I’ll do it.”
  17. >A small grin spreads across her face, making you smile in return.
  18. >”But you better not die on me, you jerk!”
  19. “Wouldn’t dream of it, babe.”
  20. >Without warning, she pounces on you; her canines sinking into your neck. For the briefest of moments, you can see her eyes lighting up. The smell of sulphur takes place of the crisp clean air. It’s happening.
  21. >She gently sucks at the wound, and you can feel every drop of blood she takes. But for every drop taken, something new is returned. The most potent, most incredible feeling of power and energy you’ve ever felt.
  22. >You start trembling, your senses begin overloading. The dark of the night suddenly begins to glow; shadows no longer hiding the finer details of the woods from you. You can suddenly hear things you never could have imagined.
  23. >You can hear every flap of every bug’s wings, you can hear the extremely minute amount of noise an ant makes as it crawls along the ground next to the stone.
  24. >It hurts.
  25. >And it gets worse the more she takes and gives. Soon your mind is firing not only on all cylinders, but is firing on cylinders that didn’t even exist before. You spasm uncontrollably as you try to stay with her.
  26. >The world around you gets brighter and brighter, and louder, to the point where it’s just an influx of incomprehensible feedback, louder than anything you’ve ever heard.
  27. >Then, she stops sucking at the wound, and releases you. She latches onto your arm gently, and looks into your eyes, and you see the fear in hers.
  28. >”Anon,” she whispers, and somehow through the chorus of noises, you can hear it, “just hang in there Anon, it’ll be over soon.”
  29. >Deep inside you feel the scream, but your throat is dry. So dry you can’t even breath.
  30. >You seize up for a moment, and then your mind ‘explodes’, taking the overwhelming sounds away, and a calm, almost euphoric feeling spreads throughout your body.
  31. >Your body…
  32. >Your hands tremble slightly, but not nearly as much as before.
  33. >You can still hear to great extremes, but it’s manageable. If you try to, you can easily pick out what sound you want to hear, and it seems like you instinctively search for it.
  34. >The night still glows. Nothing is dark anymore. You can see clearly.
  35. >You take a deep breath after realizing that you hadn’t taken a single one in the past 5 minutes.
  36. >For some reason, the sensation of air filling your lungs no longer gives you any satisfaction. It’s like when you realize a bad habit and cut it off. Your chest stops rising and falling as you stop breathing, yet you are fine.
  37. >Finally you manage to speak.
  38. “Vinyl…” Your eyes widen at the sound of your voice. It seems much deeper than before. “I feel… I feel…”
  39. >Seeing you’re okay, she gives you a knowing smile. “Like a god?”
  40. “Well… Yeah. Man, if this is what I was missing out on I would have done this with you long ago.”
  41. >She chuckles. “Well Count Anon, you now have the rest of eternity to come to terms with your newfound vampirism, so don’t worry about regretting not doing it sooner.”
  42. >Running your tongue across your teeth, you realize that your canines have now grown somewhat, and are ridiculously pointy.
  43. >Looks like you’re now a vampire.
  44. >You rise to your feet, power filling your body. You look over at her, and she is watching you intently, her red eyes still glowing.
  45. >Without warning, you pull her into a deep, loving kiss.
  46. >As she snakes her tongue into your mouth, you start thinking.
  47. >The rest of eternity like this, with Vinyl?
  48. >Fuck yeah.
  49. >You pull her to the ground, ready to celebrate your newfound immortality with her in the best way you know how.
