- - prose is not really what i'm used to, it's 'different' -- makes me think.
- - stuff like ch. 6, "frisked by a TSA agent" but it's herself -- made me turn it over in my head, the idea of her being violated when she pats herself down is intriguing to me, the lack of control and alien feeling of her own hands on her own body, is interesting.
- - it feels like she avoids a lot of more explicit exposition, i have to reread a bit and understand a scene in layers sometimes (might be affected by reading when i'm stoned), but it leads to an impressionistic feeling, like i'm less understanding the specifics of a scene and more motion & feeling through the scene
- - this is both emphasized by & fits really well with the short chapter length and non-sequential structure, where i feel like i can get a very kinetic idea of a scene, an arc of emotion and action
- - i like "Damocles' rolled up newspaper", it's cute/charming <- this is where i started writing notes because i wanted to remember details like this
- - i like "not background cosmic radiation but foreground personal nothingness", the contrast is sharp enough that i intensely felt the sensation being evoked
- - chapter 10 is a bit jarring. (positive, i think) i think i struggle with these low-context chapters because i have trouble narrowing down my interpretation of the text to the point where i can feel comfortable with a singular interpretation of the events. but this is very evocative and i think the way it's written is fascinating, it feels to me like prose meeting movie direction in first person.
- - ch. 13, i like the rhyme scheme. very cute little chapter.
- - i like the structure change. i like this exploration of laika's creativity, i like trying to read into what her writing tells me about her.
- - ch. 16 is very cute.
- - ch. 22, this is fun, i like Suicide Girl's whole Endless Fighting shtick and i like how it's used to engage in a sort of intimacy with Sparrow. i like how these chapters with Suicide Girl and Sparrow have been interlaced with Laika and Dawn here, and i like the comparison & contrast that draws between Laika and Dawn's intimacy and the fight here
- - ch. 23, i like it -- it feels like laika is so much more comfortable dealing with her transness than any of her Puppy Problems which i find interesting
- - ch. 24, aww, i like how deliberate the choice is about what heroes laika highlights in the latter half of this chapter -- the ones who take a licking and keep ticking so to speak
- - ch. 27 - i like the creme egg bit, it's so sweet and familiar to the gooey love i feel for my girlfriend
