I'm still hedging my bet that the 'cherubs' are simply disguises being used by the Angels to appear more approachable and friendly in comparison to their move Lovecraftian true Angelic form.

Basically a Human disguise but for Angels.

Alternatively, the cherubs can split into the animals that make them up.
C.H.E.R.U.B. isn't actually three entities, it's just one split into three.

See I dig this idea, and I think there are accounts of angels taking on human form in scripture.

Also, if we go with the idea that the exterminators are basically just angels in riot gear, then they might be absolutely horrific to behold outside of their gear. Like a

>Demon fights an exterminator
>Knocks mask off
>Gets a look at their face
>They find the poor bastard later curled up in the fetal position babbling nonsense.

But this is also pretty cool. So do the pieces maintain a single consciousness when split or is it like a The Things situation where they have to recombine with each other to get the rest of themselves caught up on the info they gathered while they were separated?

I'm leaning more towards The Thing version.
It allows them to be somewhat more individual.

Has anyone taken the headcanon that the Exterminators aren't actually from Heaven at all, but are simply products of Hell created to keep control of their own population? I know that's a theory that's been spread about.

Honestly, even as a theory it makes more sense than what the show's reason is.

That's been tossed around in the past but I don't think its been explored as heavily as other shit like the exterminators being brainwashed angels, or that mortal souls basically get stroggified into exterminators, or that they're robots.

I kind of like the idea that they're either brainwashed, or genetically augmented Angels, or robots. Then again, genetically augmented may be too similar to Daleks, considering they want to exterminate all demonic life.
