During lunch and break, she would go into the library and finish homework. She was really friendly with the librarian was very independent. As she got older, her dad had got a promotion to move to South Korea. They immediately accepted the offer and flew to Korea the second week. When Maylena entered middle school at 11, she was flooded with a new culture and language. She had to work even harder to learn the culture and speak the language. She made many friends there and it was really hard for her to adapt to all the new people. She was very scared because back home no one had bothered to notice her. But, she had to stick through it and try her best to get along with them. She made a couple of friends, but she found out they actually didn't like her after hearing about herself while in the bathroom. That's how she developed  her reserved, quiet personality.
