➣ BACKGROUND: having lived in a very small neighborhood in the outskirts of kazan, katya's family was very tight-knit being just the four of them in the house. she was almost a different person back then. happier, talked more but still more or less very quiet. growing up, katya had always known her family wasn't quite ordinary. unless you count shooting fireballs from your hands or turning a rock into dust ordinary, then no. she was pretty young––around 6 or 7––when she understood what she truly was. it happened when she had touched a rock and the object suddenly turned into dust. the word mutant had been foreign to her then, though. all she knew was she and her family had powers and were apparently supposed to be living under the government's supervision but are out in the open instead. katya didn't fully understand it then, but it could be that her parents didn't want to turn themselves into the government. so it made sense why they had to continuously move from city to city. they might as well had been on the run, avoiding the eyes of the government. for a while it was fine. she felt safe despite not being safe, but she was too young to fully understand things as what they were. at some point, the family settled in moscow for five years. the city was highly populated, so it was easy for them to get lost in the crowd and blend in with people who weren't mutants. it was okay for a while. of course, until it wasn't. the people they feared the most came knocking on their door. a certain neighbor the family had befriended turned out to have a big mouth (lets just say that neighbor had become katya's first close friend) (btw she was 13 then). so the girl turned the volkov's in, but their parents were putting up too much of aa fight and things got physical. the government people were having none of it, and katya ended up watching her parents get tortured (and a bullet going through her mother's head as scary-looking men dragged her away.

➣ PERSONALITY: KATYA is the embodiment of both fire and ice. she's quiet, silent, passive when everyone else isn't. she comes of as cold despite having deadly glares that could set you on fire. most would describe her as someone who has a resting bitch face. however, on the rare occasions that she does speak, people would be surprised (or hurt) at the biting words she usually lets out of her mouth. she’s very witty when she wants to be and does not tolerate whiny ass bitches who complain about everything (she hates people like that a lot). the only smile you'd find on her face is a sneaky, sly, or smug one. i’m not saying that her dark past is the source of her dark humor, but i’m saying that that’s totally the case. katya’s eccentric personality stamps her as one of the weird ones, or to put it more bluntly, batshit crazy. i mean, she has this scary look on her face whenever she’s not talking or just zoning out, she rarely talks that people are convinced she’s mute (which is something katya hates hearing a lot, and would not hesitate to shove a fist to someone’s face if they even mutter the word in her presence), and she is ruthless when it comes to fighting that everyone assumes she just has no heart. to an extent, i guess she is a little insane, but that’s something she will never admit to. at first glance, she seems very chill and calm, when in reality she is anything but. she's actually pretty easy on the eyes and catches the attention of quite a few guys, yet none of that ever happens because they're smart enough to back out. one of the many issues she has is her anger management. she gets ticked––triggered––by the littlest things it’s actually unhealthy and terrifying and will not hesitate to use her powers.

but looking past all that dark and problematic exterior, katya is one of the strongest mutants you will ever meet, both physically and mentally. having gone through immense shit during her childhood, her layers are toughened. and maybe because of that, she has trust issues as well, but who can you really trust in a world where the government forcefully takes children from their parents and shut them out from the world? really, she can't even do one simple trust-fall exercise. the only person she can rely on and will always rely on is her sister, and maybe a little bit of KIDS WITH GUNS. it’s really hard to break her shell and get inside her chained heart, but when you do, you’re one hell of a person. she is ruthless, aggressive, and sly despite not seeming like it, but that doesn’t mean she won’t protect her loved ones at any cost. she gets easily distracted and finds the smallest things amusing, like flowers, which makes her sound extremely soft. she’s not. nowhere near soft. this is something she does when her head is clear and she doesn’t feel like crushing someone’s head and also because of how her mother had a strong liking towards flowers. one thing to note when dealing with her is to not mention her past. she’ll either be very vulnerable (which rarely happens) or want to shoot you.

ANSWER: 3. you’d assume she’d be the best, but her tendency to snap at the slightest things that pisses her off would lead her to think with her fist rather than her head. she’s not exactly smart and is easily distracted, so there’s that.

ANSWER: hand-and-hand combat. she's clumsy and awkward when it comes to her arms and legs when fighting. that’s always been her weakest point (prefers guns and arrows).

  HOW CAPABLE ARE THEY OF CONTROLLING THEIR POWERS FROM A SCALE OF 1-10 AND WHY?
ANSWER: 9. after being taken by the government, there was nothing left to do but be angry, sad, confused, and actually try to control her powers. she spent hours practicing and trying to control them that it even drains her sometimes, but the result is really worth all the trouble.

  + KIDS WITH GUNS. their sense of humor is quite similar and he's one of the few people who says she's crazy, but doesn't really think she's crazy, or tolerates it enough that he doesn't really care.
  + YOONGI. katya and yoongi would hit it off great and get along well. since he's the type of person who doesn't really care about what other people think, whether it's of him or someone else. he wouldn't listen to everyone else when they tell him that she's crazy. he'd just be too fascinated by her power.
  + but i also feel like she would be allies with HOSEOK. they don't really interact that much save from a few glances of understanding whenever something happens and they feel the same way about the whole thing. i think katya just relates to hoseok on a spiritual level, being that they both had a rough past before getting taken by the government.

➣ HOW THEY END UP GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER:
  + so this one day at the government facility, people in charge suddenly took her away and claimed that they would be running some "tests" and they needed a test subject. it was a pain in the ass of course. they wouldn't even let her sleep in her usual room, kept her inside some kind of cell instead. lucky for her, she wasn't always alone. the cell right next to hers was occupied by a boy. katya didn't know who he was, only knew what his voice sounded like, and she never got a glimpse of his face because they were always taken and put back in at different times. he kept her company, even if she wouldn't admit it, even if he says the weirdest things and was slightly annoying at times. it was that time of the night where katya felt infuriated. she was angry at the government, at everything they had done to her and her family, and felt like she could start an uprising herself. the boy joked, "then let's get out of here". but obviously katya took it seriously and before she knew it, the bars were broken (funny, they had told her she would neve be able to break it hm) and she did the same to his, and yeah they broke out and shit. caused a ruckus during midnight. smh.

➣ FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
  + HER FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIM:
    ⚬ there's really not much to base around since all she knew of was how his voice sounded. thought that he was an okay companion for someone who was stuck in a cell. he listened to all her rants, that was something she liked. after they escaped, it was the first time she had seen his appearance and she thought he looked... weak. or vulnerable. he just didn't strike katya as someone who would put up a fight, despite being the one initiate the breakout even if he was joking. she thought he was a year or two younger than her, and was surprised when she found out they were the same age.

  + HIS FIRST IMPRESSION OF HER
    ⚬ it's kind of different talking to someone from behind a cell wall from actually talking and seeing what they look like for the first time. he was kind of... terrified of her, to say the least. he knew she was hot-headed from their limited conversations back at the facility, but looking at her was different. she was really intimidating to the extent that he forgot he liked talking to her.

➣ HOW SHE ACTS AROUND HIM:
    ⚬ like how she would usually act around other people she's not particularly close with. she became quiet. it's different now that he's seen her face. she can't talk to him like she had back when they were in the cells. sometimes it frustrates her how hesitant and careful he is. i guess she's a tad aggressive, rough, and a little bit on the edgy side because even if he looks innocent, katya still has her trust issues. it gets better as the days she spends with him go by though. i think it's safe to say that he brings out the soft side in katya. one she didn't know she had.

➣ HOW HE ACTS AROUND HER:
    ⚬ he was extremely shaken at how good she was with her powers, and how ruthless she was with them. it scared him a little. he acted warily, not wanting to get on her bad side. thinks she's insane (who tf trips on a rock––a fucking rock––and steps on it, grunting as it dwindles into dust???). the girl has her issues, but that doesn't stop him from lending a hand whenever she needs one (though of course, she's stubborn and she never accepts). it's fine though. he's fine with being around her even if she yells and kicks things a lot. he doesn't mind. maybe it's those times they had talked while being held in the facility. and it's good that she seems to warm up to him after a while.

➣ RELATIONSHIP: [this is after they broke out of the cells okay]
  + BEGINNING. unspoken hot & cold tension mixed with fear (but only on his part)
  + MIDDLE. i would say that they eventually become friends because it's kind of hard not to get to know each other by this point
