  3. actually its quite the opposite of what tate said. Pushing in the overdrive button actually disengages the overdrive. the overdrive is used to limit how high your engines rpms are to reduce wear and tear and etc. so turning the overdrive off gives your vehicle more torque and power. its meant for going up hills or towing things. Overdrive off- more power, faster wear. Overdrive on- less power, slower wear.
