The word akichita [akicita] is something that the seven bands had when at the dispersement it was up to them to name everything. A certain medicine man had a vision of the Thunder- beings, and that is where the word akichita comes from. Akichita means you have made up your mind to do something and you are going to do it. Akichita means if I tell you to do anything, it has to be done. When the medicine man had a vision the Thunder-beings said they and akichita would be relatives and the Thunder-beings would give their power to the people. The akichita saw to it that the laws made by the sub-chiefs were enforced. Just like the Thunder-beings, the akichita could not be stopped.
