  1. Police in China and Hong Kong are awful, they're attacking people who just want freedom. China needs to leave Hong Kong alone and stop exerting excessive influence on a country that's not even theirs. Heck, they need to stop being so awful to their own citizens. They're literally running concentration camps and genociding minorities right now. China is a shitty, oppressive regime. [Here's](https://youtu.be/cCOAbkTs_a4) a video they would rather you didn't see. And [here's](https://youtu.be/OQ5LnY21Hgc) one about their surveillance state, which is probably even worse than you think.
  2.
  3. But American cops will do most of the same things, they'll break up protests, they'll harass people, assault them or even kill them. They're not quite as open about it nowadays but just look at what happened to [Fred Hampton.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Hampton) Look at what happened at [Kent State.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings) Read up on [Cointelpro.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO) Read up on [MKUltra.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mkultra) Read up on what the FBI did to [Martin Luther King.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI%E2%80%93King_suicide_letter) Read up on what happened at [Standing Rock.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakota_Access_Pipeline_protests) Read up on the [Nayirah testimony.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nayirah_testimony) Heck, read up on [the bloody history of the US labor movement.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_worker_deaths_in_United_States_labor_disputes) If you have some extra time, [I highly recommend James Corbett's "Requiem for the Suicided" series,](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiDMAQ6DMNth0W8C1muD6eviphEa9RCpH) as well as his "Crashes of Convenience" series. Really interesting stuff that most people don't know about. [This whole list also has a ton of interesting stuff that's worth researching.](https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/wiki/lopc)

  5. A lot of people don't like to admit that our current power structure might not always have the people's best interests in mind. People are much more willing to view other countries' governments as evil, but they're much more hesitant to entertain the idea that their own country might be doing the same things. It makes things more complicated once you realize that you can't assume your leaders are doing the right thing. You might actually have to do something.
  6.
  7. Anyway here's some stuff about American police:
  8.
  9. **Cops literally get away with murder all the time.** They can kill you and get away with it even if it was completely unjustified and there's video of it. There are so many examples of this, literally hundreds, possibly thousands. If you have a strong stomach watch this video of [the police murder of Adam Trammell](https://youtu.be/sQBFF-PFHac) or [Tony Timpa](https://youtu.be/_c-E_i8Q5G0) or [Kelly Thomas](https://youtu.be/A6IntxCA3sA?t=15m00s) or [Daniel Shaver.](https://youtu.be/qYRRSdjdcbo) The only consequence that the officer in the Daniel Shaver case faced is a [pension of $31,000 a year for life.](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-officer-who-fatally-shot-sobbing-man-temporarily-rehired-apply-n1028981)
  10.
  11. Here's one example of a cop [shooting a chihuahua for barking at him](https://youtu.be/75egvCUkJFs). Surprisingly the dog lived, and even more surprisingly the officer was fired and charged with something. They usually get away with it and according to the department of justice [American cops kill so many dogs that it has become an epidemic.](https://www.criminallegalnews.org/news/2018/jun/16/doj-police-shooting-family-dogs-has-become-epidemic/) Oh and also, federal courts have ruled that when police are breaking into your house [if your dog barks they're allowed to shoot it.](https://www.aol.com/article/news/2016/12/28/federal-court-rules-police-can-shoot-a-dog-if-it-moves-or-barks/21643443/) Oh and also [if they accidentally shoot your kid, that's fine too.](https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicksibilla/2019/07/18/cop-who-accidentally-shot-10-year-old-when-aiming-for-family-dog-cant-be-sued-federal-court-rules/#6528fba93987)
  12.
  13. A good example of just how much they get away with is [Rodney King.](https://youtu.be/3CIHNV-abxY) There was clear evidence of them beating the crap out of him while he was on the ground not resisting. It was a huge case on a national stage and they still got away with it.
  14.
  15. There are so many cases where people call the police for help and officers show up and [kill the person who called 911.](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/30/us/minneapolis-police-noor-verdict.html)
  16.
  17. I'm not saying that all police officers are evil, most of them don't want to hurt anyone and genuinely want to help their community, but they need to do their best to keep their fellow cops honest, and we need to make sure they're able to do that without unfair repercussions. There are far too many examples of [cops being fired, harassed or even killed for speaking up against corruption.](https://ranker.com/list/police-department-whistleblowers-against-corruption/brent-sprecher)
  18.
  19. It's bad enough that these kinds of things are a common occurence, but it's even worse that they often get away with it because there is no system to consistently hold them accountable. **We need an outside agency that investigates police misconduct.**
  20.
  21. No more internal investigations, isn't it obvious that they might not want to find themselves guilty? We also need to find a way to counteract issues with the police and district attorneys, they have multiple [conflicts of interest.](https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/prosecutors-police-inherent-conflict-our-courts/)
  22.
  23. Anyway, shoutout to r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut
  24.
  25. Do some research, learn how bad it is, get mad and make your voice heard.
