  1. Artifact Contest III: Time is of the Essence!
  2.
  3. Another Artifact contest! Hopefully without the judging process and due dates going crazy!
  4.
  5. I wrote a brief...ish backstory at http://pastebin.com/VkxnYcsm and a tiny bit of a preview. This contest will cover the theft of a single copy (or two) of Sakuya's stopwatch, and her quest to retrieve it.
  6.
  7. So, I'll get right into requirements, and assign a due date.
  8.
  9. OBJECTIVE: USE SAKUYA'S GIMMICK WITH ANOTHER CHARACTER
  10.
  11. Someone took her stopwatch and for the purposes of this contest it totally grants time powers.
  12.
  13. Edit: You know what, there are now two copies floating around: The original, and a duplicate made by Patchouli.
  14.
  15. To reach this objective, you should follow these guidelines and use the master spark of creativity we all have inside us.
  16.
  17. *Your script must actually work on others' computers*
  18.
  19. Have your friends test it out or maybe try playing it through a fresh copy of Danmakufu. Script errors are the bane of everyone! As a general tip, please avoid using absolute pathing.
  20.
  21. *Your script may essentially be a boss fight, stage, or game*
  22.
  23. Because no one likes Single script contest entries! I don't really care if you want to package things or rename the window or whatever, as long as I can classify it as one of the above.
  24.
  25. A game is a series of stages, by my definition.
  26.
  27. *You get to choose who your boss is*
  28.
  29. Pretty self explanatory. Who stole the stopwatch? Up to you! Try to make it something believable, though. Going off the backstory, Sakuya, Marisa, and Patchouli could not have stolen the pocketwatch, and as such are not valid boss choices.
  30.
  31. As an aside, you can only dual/triple boss fights if the bosses are usually fought together, like the Prismrivers. In these cases I'd imagine they would share the stopwatch's powers somehow. It's magic.
  32.
  33. The boss you choose must be a valid member of the following universes: PC-98 Touhou, Windows Touhou, Len'en Project, Seihou. This also includes fangames such as The Last Comer, Mystical Power Plant, Riverbed Soul Saver, White Names Spoiled Past and Marine Benefit. No Ganondorf, no Pikachu, and definitely no self-inserts.
  34.
  35.
  36. *Your boss must have at least 3 nonspells and 3 spells. Your boss can have a maximum of 7 nonspells and 9 spells*
  37.
  38. Because stage 1 boss length fights are short and 20 spellcard bosses are stupidly long. Find a happy medium.
  39.
  40. *If you choose to make a stage, any stage midboss(es) must have at least two lifebar segments; the stage itself must be at least two minutes long, including any midboss encounters*
  41.
  42. Because a 30 second one-fairy-type filler stage sucks. A lifebar segment can be a spell or a nonspell, or maybe whatever crazy idea you have. Soku-style skill cards? Works for me.
  43.
  44. *The boss must actually use the stopwatch to manipulate time or space*
  45.
  46. The point of this contest is to mix the stopwatch with another character's tendencies. Want Seija to flip time? Go ahead! Do you think Reimu could reverse time to unseal demons, or maybe have Kyouko do ridiculous things with space? Go for it.
  47.
  48. Edit: There are now two copies of this going around! Maybe a boss and an underling each have their own? Maybe Sakuya retrieves a weak version of her stopwatch from the midboss and her player script changes? Who knows!
  49.
  50. *In the spirit of White Names Spoiled Past, you must tell some kind of story*
  51.
  52. This is really as simple as a dialogue event or two, but the boss should have some kind of motive for stealing the stopwatch. Eirin wants to stop the flow of time to find a cure for http://puu.sh/d5JZt/b18b1b79d8.jpg? Valid and scary. Don't worry if your English isn't very good, as long as it makes some sort of sense. Maybe have someone proofread. Don't know how to make a dialogue event? Ask your peers! I'm sure there's at least one or two free to use ones by the English speaking community, or maybe tell it a different way. Bullets spelling paragraphs? Very practical and amusing. (Not really.)
  53.
  54. *A Sakuya player is preferred (but not exactly required)*
  55.
  56. Sakuya really wants that stopwatch back, and who better to send than herself? She can still use time magic, though it's far weaker, and she's very much capable of shooting knives ahead of her. If you don't want to make a Sakuya player, maybe have her send someone else as her replacement/proxy.
  57.
  58. Edit: If at any point she gets her stopwatch or a copy of it back, she can use her full potential.
  59.
  60. ***This project is due on January 16th, 2015. Happy New Year.***
  61.
  62. A bit over 40 days should be plenty of time for this.
  63.
  64. ---If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, send an angry pm at me!---
  65.
  66. Maybe not that angry, but do tell me.
  67.
  68. Revision 3 - Date pushed back a week
