- >Camila shoves her hand down my pocket and empties it of change
- >she stands up and runs back inside the convince store
- >I get up and feel around, all she took was the change left over from buying $16.50 in gas
- >everything else was still there
- >I see her shove my money at the cashier
- >he quickly reaches down into his pocket in a panic and pulls out a bag with a small amount of pills in it
- >Camilia snatches the bag from him, takes one of the pills, and runs back out of the store
- >she gets back into her Dodge Charger and chirps the tires as she quickly exits the gas station
- >I'm left confused by what had just happened
- >decided to pick up the bags she left behind and head over to my car
- >I walked back to the car and sat the groceries in Eric's lap while removing the nozzle from the gas tank
- >"What the hell was that Anon?" my brother asked while looking through the bags
- >I walked around to the other side of the car and got back inside
- "I'm not sure. Her manticore friend stabbed her with a barb. I thought it would be the end but she just took my money and used it to buy pills off the cashier."
- >even I wonder how I made it out of that without having my pants ripped off
- >I started the car back up and left the gas station
- >I didn't want to wait around for such a long night to get any stranger
- >also had a paper to finish that was due tomorrow morning
- >the streets were lonely on the way home
- >nobody was really up that late this time of night
- >as if all the lights lit up the road just for me
- >late night television does a good job of keeping people home
- >Eric was about as silent as I was for the ride home
- >we listened to the hum of the engine and the surface of the road play their tunes
- >after a few miles of nothing, I left the main road and turned into the road that would eventually lead home
- >coming home was a sight to see though
- >several cars, all from people we knew in the order, were parked outside
- >"Just... Keep driving. Get back on the main road. I think I know where we can hide," says Eric
- >I coast by as if I didn't live there, but a lookout on the outside pointed out my car for everyone in the building
- >soon enough, my rear view mirror was populated by headlights as I left the area
- "They're following us. Where are we going Eric?"
- >he took his sweet time to think about what to say
- >I floored it as I got back on the main road, the rear tires spinning a little on the way out
- >it took them a while to catch up, but they were back on my tail once again
- >while I didn't want to get a speeding ticket from the night shift cop, I didn't want to stop for the order either
- >if they were following us, it was bad enough already
- >"Just keep going, we're going to the far east side by the lake," says Eric
- >far east
- >the lake specifically
- >quite literally a ghetto full of mamono
- >he probably thought it would be safe to hide out with that hellhound that sent him to the hospital
- >the lights in the mirror edge along even closer to us
- >I push the pedal further to pull away from them
- >not much I could do except drive faster
- >and faster
- >each curve in the road, while fine going at normal speeds, made the land-barge suspension heave the car to the left and right
- >there was a tap on my rear bumper from the car behind, absolute mad men
- >I decided that cops were the least of my concern for the night, and sped off
- >the car behind wouldn't fall behind so easily though
- >to anyone outside of the car, it was plainly obvious we were in the east side
- >to us, the chase was still on
- >the corner up ahead was rather sharp
- >I would have to slow down if I wanted to take it
- >as I stepped on the breaks, I noticed the car behind me had gotten to the left of me
- >as I turned, he turned in the opposite direction, slamming his bumper into the side of my car
- >I braced myself as my car lost traction
- >their car, however, kept going straight at the same speed
- >my car slammed into an overpass bridge pole before spinning around, blowing my tires right against a curb, and my door into a light pole
- >my vision faded to dark as an airbag blew up in front of me
- >I wasn't sure what was going on
- >all I could hear was an engine struggling to run
- >and more crashing in the distance
- >I could smell gas, and other fluids leaking out of the car
- >all why a throbbing pain aggressively pulled me out of consciousness
- >the sound of metal twisting and glass shards falling brought me back to reality
- >out of the windshield sat a familiar Dodge Charger with the hazard lights on
- >my body was lifted out of the car by my shoulders through the side window
- >I looked at my car as my heels dragged along the ground
- >the trunk was wide open, and the wheelchair was gone
- >Eric was gone
- >and my car was totaled
- >I get tossed into the seat of the Dodge Charger
- >out of the window, I can see a guard rail white a large hole torn into it
- >behind it was a sharp drop-off into a drainage ditch
- >the car suddenly started moving forwards
- >I turned my head to see myself alone with Camila in the car
- >no friends in the back seat, no Eric either
- "What's going on?" I asked
- >Camila kept driving east for a little bit before answering
- >"I don't know. What happened to you Anon?" she asked
- >I looked out the mirror to see if we were being followed by anyone
- >nothing was in sight except for my car
- "Well, my brother and I were being chased by the order. He just got out of the hospital and told them something that made them pretty upset."
- >"I see now," she said
- >"Word spread around about your bother Eric Anon. I'm sure she went out to find him the moment you two entered the east side. We can smell you from miles away."
- >I turned my head to look at Camila in disbelief
- >the moment our eyes met, she quickly looked away
- >"Sorry, did that sound too weird Anon?", she asked
- >I sighed, not really quite sure what to answer
- >there was an awkward silence as she continued heading east
- "Thank you," was all I could say
- >out of the corner of my eye, I could see a small orange flicker coming out of the corner of her eye
- >she couldn't seem to speak
- "What was all of that back at the gas station?" I asked
- >she hesitated before answering, "My friends played a prank on me when they saw you. They knew about my crush on you so they-"
- "Your what?" I asked
- >flames shot out of her eyes as she placed her paw over her mouth to cover it up
- >she turned off the main road and before too long, we we wound up in a parking lot for a public boat ramp
- >Camila was pretty strong too, she was able to lift me out of the seat and move me to the back with her arms
- >before I know it, she's hovering above me, breathing heavily and looking down at me
- >"You want to know the truth?" she asked, her eyes flaming out
- >the truth was plainly obvious with all the fire coming out of her eyes
- >but was I ready for it?
- >ever since I did that project with her, I've always had Camila as an exception
- >after all, she was from Argentina and behaved very differently from the other monsters
- >I never hated her like I did for everyone else, I would even go as far as considering her more human than monster
- >yet here she is, and I could still appreciate her for who she is despite not being a human
- >the order did have its use back in the day, but now, I think it is time to let go
- >before Camila could say anything, I leaned up and kissed her
- To be continued?
